Try this...maybe... -Open the original in photoshop. -Convert it to LAB color. -In the channels...use a gaussian? blur of about 6-10 on both the A and B channels. -On the Luminosity channel, use noise>despeckle. -then convert it back to RGB. -then do your adjustments. -then a bit of "smart sharpening". -THEN scale your image down to viewing size. see if that does any good. BTW....I'm making a set of Photoshop actions....

Yes....an Epson perfection 636 with transparency unit. It sucks, and tends to add noise and Newton rings....sometimes I can get away with it and get around those flaws to a degree......

OOPS! my fault. Hey don't think Jerry Uelsman never heard "there is no way you didn't use photoshop" (after it was available) Keep up what you do, and don't listen to me.......mouth opening......foot inserting..... I would just take it as a compliment....If you can do that type of work "in camera" and make people think you used photoshop. It takes skills. btw, this place is far from being photo.net.

Ahhh, thanks. I now see why you removed the background. I agree that it is a bit distracting. I like the version you posted in the gallery. It is nice to see what has been altered and be able to compare. A really fast lens would have been nice to have but you handled it well.

".......care about photography and not naked DAZ models ; ) " Poor phrasing, but you get my drift.....

Misha883....I'm not really sure if there is such thing as a "short" zone tutorial ; ) I'll see what I can find or do. Jordy....I threw away my 4x5, stopped using the zone system and started doing snapshots of cats. Jay7347.....I find that I get better feedback by posting in here in the forum...I'm not out for mega hits/ratings, just some decent feedback from people who actually care about photography and not naked DAZ models ; )

Actually the Fixer is where most of the silver is.....That SHOULD NOT be dumped...just collect it in a jug of some sort and take it to a lab or back to school...they should have a reclamation system or collection somewhere.

What did you clone out of the bottom of the image? Just curious, cuz I can see that it has definately been altered. Nice sky.

This one is my favorite one so far....Donald. The tones and composition are great in my opinion. The grain dosen't bother me at all. Don't know what else to say. I'm sorry I missed out on this event...I've been working Swing shift and was just waking up when this event was going on.....damn! I need a new schedule.... Keep up the great work. You have good in camera technique too BTW ; )
Thread: Sill working on it...old fart question | Forum: Photography
Rules are meant to be broken......AFTER you completly understand them.....although breaking them is part of the learning process.....just do it correctly by following the rules of breaking the rules.....art rules.....and I say this with an alcohol blood level of .08 ; )

I believe that photo was part of his "migrations" body of work.....I think the piece about his photoshopping was in Outdoor photographer...or one of those rags. Art still does great "real" photo work...I go to his gallery in REI here in Seattle all the time, but I just like to brush him off since he pulled that manuver. By the way, I'm going to have to bust out the macro equip after looking at your fungi images....thanks for the inspiration.... Suppose I'll have to update my gallery, now that I've been talkin' all this about that......seeing how everything in there now is 100% digitally produced....(they are in the correct galleries though)
