Forgot to mention that objects created in the Vue editor this way can be exported as 3ds objects and used in other programs. Good luck.

If you have access to either Vue or Bryce, you could take a a public domain image of the masks into photoshop, convert it to grayscale, drop the contrast depending on how high and low you wnat the end result, and import it into Vue or Bryce in the terrain editor, then apply metalic mat.

I'll be damned! I had no idea you could vary the colors like that. That'll be very useful. Is there anything you don't know about Vue, gebe? :)

Hey, I didn't know that. Does anybody out there have anymore useful tidbits about rendering Poser figures in Vue? I know about turning the ambient lighting down. I'd like to find a way to get the same quality of render of skin textures in Vue that I get in Poser. Impossible dream maybe, but it's my goal.

It's back (release the doves!!). I wanted to thank everybody for the advice. It turned out to be some kind of weird glitch in the Roxio DVD burning software, which I would strongly advise anyone against ever using! I'm going to buy another. I've heard about Nero and this other one called Pinnacle. We'll see. Thanks again.

No and no. The disk I got is the kind that would restore back to factory condition, which would wipe my files. The computer guy next door was able to get it to the dos window, but that was it. Even when you try to bring it up in safe mode, it crashes as soon as the desktop comes up. Thats why I was thinking about a new os, and wondering if loading 2000 would at least give me access to my files.

Might want to look at Kutter's tutorial on Displacment mapping. It could make the blends between beach and non-beach smoother and more natural. Good luck.
