outstanding! You win my hero award (with barbed wire cluster) for the work of translating raw date into such terrific results :)

05 the file dialogue has lost the Explorer commands - not even scroll wheel works .. boolean difference with an imported object works badly .. all else good

Because Bryce's red button for selective rendering is useful and fast, I'd like such a render button easily accessible in the camera control panel. Left-click to render, right-click to switch mode (button green for render-select, orange for render-all?)..sometimes I wish this camera panel was undockable/redockable and able to be sized when undocked as well.

Likewise on losing the hook to Explorer commands. Only thing left is the ability to rename a file by slow-clicking in the name. Not good.

Used Bryce almost since it began, and for just $50 more than the upgrade from 4 to 5, I got this amazingly easy and powerful program with faster renders, easier animations, veggies that look right, and a much nicer color tone. All I want now is something that will convert all my bryce files to .vue!

Thank you! I've tried finding specific places before, but had given up trying to pick my way through the labrynith of links that didn't lead where you'd expect.

good point sitting blue
there oughta be a bug base on e-on site; with a form that asks the pertinent things we forget they don't know (hdw, reboot? etc..) But all the forms submitted need to be visible to anyone testing a beta so we know there's a potential problem and can test it ourselves to see if unique.

no 3ds ability to discover if so, but just found that hard edge assignments are lost on obj imports (figured I oughta explore further before restore)

Outstanding sails and sun position! Good reminder to me to add some seam texture whenever I get around to a sail setup. Only thing that keeps it from fully feeling 1st person is the lens flare.

Hi Steve Bell,
In the 1st post I entered the path after c:, but forgot html is on..
anyway.. reading the lwo error, I recalled having a few tucked away and tried - they don't even show in the file menu to open.
Also discovered that while I can pick my way down through nests of folders toward a file, that won't happen on desktop folders - I can go 2d level (cwindesktopfolder1, but no deeper.
..and did you change the color scheme in that file-open menu? files seem fainter, and with a big monitor with a high-refresh, the bright white makes me feel like I need shades and anti-radiation creme - sure wish we could preference colors.
..the manual's rather skimpy index doesn't show anything about this restore from back, so I'm hoping best guess will save me from reinstall of 4.02/4.03

4.02 w/full 4.03 incremented to .05 on Win98: Nothing with .3ds extension imports. Have tried a goodly number from archive and all fail 'unable to read file c:' All other formats import fine, and 3ds opens fine in other apps.

Not surprising she's unconcerned - those Laura Croft water-wings keep her safe :-) but wow - that would make a great tute!
Thread: I love Wings3D! | Forum: Vue
I'm glad you like it so much Bernie :) If anyone is interested in getting into sub-d modeling, Wings is certainly the best deal going. The biggest caveat is that 3D isn't easy; you have to learn the tools through trial and error. While Wings has the easiest interface, and advanced tools/functions found in no other freeware, it lacks a manual. I own the Wings forum, and we do have a section on the manual in development, as well as plenty of help with questions. It's now on a lot of pro 3D seats; and Bay Raitt and others of the LOTR crew are using it, praising it, and participating in the forum. BTW - greetings to all of you! I'm Mike Owen, and while I'm ancient in rendering, I'm new to Vue, and am as excited with it as Bernie is of Wings! Once I get caught up with my realworld docket I'll start sticking up some vobs for y'all to play with. Been lurking for awhile, and this's a nice community :) almost forgot! Wings Forum
