Dang - I just knew it was going to be something simple! Thanks so much, guys! Jeeze - I'm still such a noob...
"If you wanted a figure to cast a shadow shaped like it is falling on a wall and the ground, you could add a wall, also set to shadow catch only."
I love it!!! Thanks, BB - one of those things that's so obvious I've overlooked it ;-)
Thanks again!

I just sitemailed you, Roxy - dang..... shoulda jumped in here first.
Aside from being knocked right out of my chair by BB's render above, I can see I have a lot to (re)learn... Great info here!
I did notice the blue color in diffuse that BB alluded to. Making this white, or slightly warm makes the skin pop without turning off SSS.
Now, I'm gonna go play with the gamma setup..

Don't know of any, but it might be a fun challenge to try and create a morph....
Might give it a go if I get time in the next few days...

Well, that's enough of a reason for me.....
I've pre-purchased 2012, now I just need a few hours to download it - probably this weekend...
I've been using P8 for a couple years now, and I can't wait to start playing with 2012!

Quote - Totally unexpected, the HDR merge discriminated against cats and mechanical beasites. And, it kept a parade man but the man waiting for a ride is gone and only a cat ghost remains in the foreground. How two Hippie VW vans got in there I don't know.
Anyway, there you go.     Tom.

Humm...maybe I should market the technique as "Dali Meets Warhol Effect" : )
Tom, I forgot to mention..... That was a Stealth beastie.... Can't explain the cats or VWs, though... probably some kind of interdimensional wormhole or something.

Here's an abstract study for you. :)
That's cool, Tara! - Jeeze, don't get me started with filters......

Thread: I have to say on the new 'site look' | Forum: Community Center
Quote - It is their site, and people don't have to come here if they don't like it.
And this is the part I really don't get..... They don't HAVE to come here. There are plenty of other 3D sites with great merchandise.
I mean, if I had a website that I wanted lots of people to come to, spend a lot of time on, and SPEND MONEY on, I would do everything in my power to entice those people to stay for as long as possible. That includes using a color scheme that my potential (and especially my existing) customers find soothing and relaxing.Â
Aesthetics plays a huge part in the "sticky factor" of a site - especially a site geared towards an artistic audience.
I don't know - maybe I'm just a simple-minded country boy, but it just makes no sense to me..... Somebody must really be fond of oversaturated blue...
I guess we'll just have to "get used to it..."

LOL @ Tara.... A pig in poo, huh??
Glad to see the gray next to the artwork - it really does look better than any bright, saturated color.
I think the big thing is that a gray or at least a gray/blue is a lot easier on the eyes over a long period - it's simply more relaxing, IMHO. A lot of your viewers are like me, they spend a LOT of time on Rendo. And it's a lot more calming and relaxing to have a muted color scheme than a large expanse of brilliant, saturatd color assailing your eyes for more than a short time.
Thanks for your hard work, and 'listening' to your visitors.

Thread: DS VS Poser | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Hey, Mr. Bat! ;-D
Spackoine isn't just a place, it's a state of mind...... Speaking of which, if you find one lying around (a mind, I mean), it's probably mine....
"Help? I need help defying the known laws of 4 dimentional space-time to make this thing fit! It's HUGE!!! Once i've violated most of the known universal laws, I need to port all my content over....yugh!"
Yah - fun, isn't it? That reminds me - time to backup my runtimes again.....
I DL'd DAZ4, and once Rene figures out all the angles (LOL) I might play with it a bit.. Assuming my freaking schedule calms down a bit... ;-P

I use Poser 8 exclusively for my 3D work. It seems to run pretty well on my HP quad-core system w/Win7 64 bit. It still has a few quirks (such as when I change a figure's pose, sometimes the hair and clothing don't follow the figure - reconforming one item results in all items snapping back where they're supposed to be..LOL).
I have DS3, but haven't had time to play with it much. I just DL'd DAZ4 - but I think I'll let the Cyberdoc figure out how to fix the bugs before I install it myself... LOL!

Thread: Free stocking+leg shader | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yeah, I know what you mean, BB - on both counts. I'm a lot better versed in the busy with work arena than I am with shaders, believe me!
And on the other part, I can relate as well. I learn best by just getting in and screwing things up, then figuring out what the heck happened... Not really, but I've learned so much in the past year both by just messing with it, and with your help through tuts like this.
I'll have to look into that Matmatic thing. I've read about it in a couple of these forums.
Good luck on the work, and thanks for all the info!
