Okay, Does anyone know how they got the full body and head textures into one file for the P5 Characters... as a MTL (poser 5) file? This is what I am trying ot figure out how to do, I just sort of think it makes more sense for textures to be under "Materials" than to be under "Poses". Might just be me, but I'm like that.

Gareee, How about the other way around? Are there only two minor changes needed to make a MAT pose file into a Material collection? And will that work in P5?

Hi, Thanks for the replies. Guess I should have pointed out that I am still working from Poser 5 also... I was just curious if there were any benifits to doing it one way over the other, because I already have all the files within a MAT pose, and that library just keeps growing. Now that I am playing around with skin shader and whatnot, I'm looking at this setup and saying... "Wait, isn't this more or less the exact same thing, just done differently?" Obviosly the MTL files can offer more variety, as far as node setup... but then again, the MTL, once created, could be saved into a MAT Pose... Just seamed redundant to have these configurations in two places. Does anyone know, can the MTL file be edited to include all body or head groups in one shot?

Thread: At $60.00 Wardrobe Wizard has priced me out. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
At 60.00 it is out of my current "To broke to afford 3 meals a day" status. However, I have the page bookmarked so that when there is that little bit of extra, I can pick it up. Looks like it might actually resolve the issue of No clothes for Dina, which I would be very happy about. Oh and I rechecked.... it is actually 96Gig of clothing for Vicky II, the cost of re-purchase (if available) is well over the cost of the wizard. It is most definately on the "to get" list.

Mamba,
So is that the concept of WW?
To be a Morph manager or UTC for clothing?
Will it work Cross character as suggested? Has anyone tried loading up Dina, and seeing if Steph clothes are a one click transfer.
Would love to see something like this, I have about 84 Gig, of clothes for Vickie 2, but do not use her anymore, would be nice to be able to transfer over some of the outfits.
Thread: +++ DG#112 +++ Skull Caps +++ Page 1 ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
See, now this is why I ask these questions BEFORE I spent 5 hours working on something :)
Thread: +++ DG#112 +++ Skull Caps +++ Page 1 ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the info :) Okay so I make a skullcap, I make the hair groups, then I descide that the cap needs just a little tweeking to get an area right. I pull it into 3DMax, move some things around and bring it back into Poser... What happens to the relationship between the original hair growths and the new skullcap? Is that broken basicly making it so a person has to start over in the hair growth aspect, or will they still apply as before?
Thread: +++ DG#112 +++ Skull Caps +++ Page 1 ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Okay, This raises some questions: 1. Is the skullcap now a savable prop? 2. Is the hair growth group only constrained to that skullcap (I.E. a part of the same prop) 3. Can the skullcap be pulled into - say 3DMax and/or Maya and altered, or does that change the dynamics of the cap/head relationship? Someone mentioned Polys, what is a good rule of thumb for a poly count in a skullcap (or any cap for that matter?)

Oh, and PS to Paula, This is for P5, haven't been able to afford getting the upgrade yet, (starving student and all that stuff.) Guess I should have mentioned that.

Hi Folks, Thanks for the info, I'll take a look at the tuts suggested and see what I can figure out. Oneof the main reasons I ask is not because of the main head hair, but the extrenuous hairs... you know Lashes, Eyebrows, moustache, beards, etc. I've looked at V3, and interestingly enough she has a rim of polys around her eyelids, right on the edge...right where a persons eyelashes grow out of... So I think to myself...self, wouldn't it be easier to just put some hairs in there than to try and get these transmaps to do what everyone says they do? Eyebrows, you have texture maps, bump map, transparancy... yada, yada, yada... Again I say self... wouldn't it be easier to just put some hair in these spots? So Anyway, that's the idea, now if these tuts work out I might be able to figure this out. Thanks again.
Thread: How is Daz Studio better than Poser? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
The absalute truth about this comparison is it appears to be an attempt to look through the egg shell to see what kind of chickens there will be, to see if they should be purchased. The program has not even hit the shelves yet, and comparisons are being made. Even by me, I admit that, I'm going into the beta saying "How does this compare to Poser?" The thing is, it's not a fair comparison. It reminds me of the commercials on TV where they compare Dialup to the latest Cable connections. "It will be so much faster, it will be this, it will be that." Well yeah, it's a different kind of technology. So which is better? The point is mute. Which does what you want it to do. Right now, at the beta stage, DS is simply a rendering tool. You can't compare it to Posers animation capabilities, because it doesn't have them. You can't compare it to Posers Dynamic material capabilities, because it doesn't have them. All you can do is compare the apples with the apples. So does DS pose and render a figure better or on par with Poser. I'd say that they are about the same. I don't really notice any performance differences. Mind you I haven't hooked it up to my Digital stop watch to calculate render times down to the billionth of a second. I don't really think I need to bother, Does it really make a difference in the grand sceme of things if one renders a complete image .0382 second fater than the other? The question is which is better, the answer is: at this point they are both viable solutions to the rendering of 3D characters. Which is better, New York Strip, or Sirloin? yah know what I mean? ;D

Hmmm... Just a thought but how about displacement to fix the 3D aspects of eyebrows? Start>Programs>Graphics>Poser... Be back in a bit :)
Thread: The Last P6 Question: User Levels (no gripin) | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Should it be segmented out into three versions? I honestly do not think so. As it stands, it is a strong package, quirky at times, but still versatile enough that it is used by beginner to pro. What I know of 3D modeling, and texturing Ive learned by using Poser, I started just turning the dials, then I noticed the XYZ translations, then I noticed that people were making different textures for items, and learned how to apply them. Then I saw Morphs, and learned how to apply them as well, and then I thought, Wait that one isnt right, but its the closest Ive seen. Hey, how do you make a morph anyway? So I learned that, (not very well yet, mind you, but I dabbled.) I guess what I am saying is that Poser was ready and waiting for me to discover what it had to offer me. As I grew in knowledge, the package itself would lead me along, Oh like Dynamic hair, its in this section, do this, try that, tweak this. I might not be good at it or even understand it, but it is there, waiting for me when I get the gumption to try it. If I had to stop, go out and purchase a different version, or upgrade the one I had, I probably would have been on a stronger search for an all-inclusive package. I guess it boils down to that; I like that poser has all the bells and whistles it does. I might not use them, now or in the near future, but they are there, and I can/could if I wanted to.

Xantor, Yeah I know what they are supposed to do... I've just never seen any that actually look good when doing it. Might be some out there, I've just never seen them, and my own attempts are horrid enough to make me give up ;
