Yep, I don't see it in Complete either. It does show up in Infinite though. Perhaps clearing out your prefs file might help and restarting? Maybe it's a setting bug left over from an old prefs file?

Steve,
I am so sorry for your loss. Here on our ranch, we've lost a border-mix, too. Unless one is a true pet lover, it's hard to put in words how much these little animals mean to us. Holding their heads and paws while the Vet sends them to doggy heaven slays me for days.
We've a little pet cemetary which now has three dogs, three cats and a chicken. It is so very hard burying them-- and one look at my wife or daughter during this sad time seems to bring up all the emotions again.
I've a little rat terrier, "Petey," who follows me everywhere. I can't imagine the state I'll be in when he's gone. I, too, hope there's a heaven where we can once again go for walks and play fetch with our favorites.
All the best to you, Chipp

Quote - Chipp:
I want to know how you manage the round corners of that table with just Vue...
That's just a simple eps outline created in the free open source Inkscape. It's loaded as an eps outline in the text editor and a very small chamfer is added around the edges.
The chair rungs are made from a dingbat font which has the concave areas (might be WebDings font?) and some cylinders for legs. The back of the chair is a parenthesis text object. The faucet is a simple metablob. The base is another round rectangle eps, but open at the ends, so the sink will fit through.
I have a bunch of standard eps outlines in a library which I can use to create a variety of objects. Most of the bowls and vases are also created this way.

I'm curious, how many of you actually model in other programs, then move them into Vue on a regular basis? IOW, it seems there are some who just create scenes in Vue using C3D or other purchased/found objects, and then there are those who mostly model and just use Vue for visualizing their model.
My big issue with modeling in other programs, is it just takes too long, and you have to switch mental gears and now remember how that other program works. And if you need architecture, you need something like SketchUp, but for a car model, then you'll need Rhino or Modo. It's all very complicated and time-consuming.
For me, I enjoy just sitting down and creating something and seeing the results. I know there are those who prefer spending longer times creating a scene and each model in the scene as well. Where do you fit in?

While Vue doesn't have standard modeling tools, you can model in it. For instance: (I'm still working on this ;-)
And here's a quick kitchen counter scene all modeled directly in Vue.

Steve,
Sorry, I haven't spent much time rendering a spherical world yet. When I get a chance, I'll take a peek.
Pnina,
I don't know when 7.4 will be released. Also, to my knowledge, no one knows when 7.5 will be released. I suspect 7.4 will be released AFTER 7.5, but I really don't know.

Quote - Chipp - yeh I didnt get the emphasis on a beta even though you said it, my apologies!
Certainly, no problem.
Quote - I guess the balance in the e-on universe is maintained - for you the 7.5 beta feels like a released version. For me v7complete feels like less than a beta version :( Another week gone, not the slightest progress in making it any more workable.
Ouch, now that just hurts my feelings. I spent a lot of time testing your bugs, finding some workarounds and posting explanations to help make your problems a bit more 'workable.' So, I thought we had made some progress. No?
Thread: Is e-on struggling for cash? | Forum: Vue
Quote - Surprisingly? why surprisingly? is this because all previous/current versions are so full of bugs and crushes? but I thought you(and a very few others) were of the opinion that they were OK? hardly any show stoppers? not worth bothering e-on to fix them?
Now I know what you really think...
Pnina, 1. 7.5 is beta software-- by definition beta software has bugs in it.
Those are the points I was trying-- albeit unsuccessful in your mind-- to infer with my simple comment.

While not necessarily easy to find, 7.4 features have been posted on their feature comparison page for some time now.
http://www.e-onsoftware.com/products/vue/vue_7_infinite/index.php?page=14&BaseProduct=Vue%207%20Infinite
It's getting more and more clear, the Infinite line is for professionals who can afford the subscription plan. To this end, they have made pretty decent offer:
Pay now for the maintenance plan, and get immediate access to the 7.5 beta (by all reports suprisingly stable), then when 7.5 ships you also receive it. And then when 8.0 ships, you also get it as well. All for $395. Not too bad. And if you don't want any of this, then they will be rolling many of the 7.5 features into 7.4, which is a free upgrade to 7.0.
I have the beta 7.5, and it's not a rewrite of the whole application. Furthermore, I seriously doubt they would rewrite the whole application for 8.0, especially when they are talking about it being a free upgrade for those who purchase maintenance plans.
Thread: Is e-on struggling for cash? | Forum: Vue
Yep, I also winced at 'irregardless'. LOL. Probably not a bad idea to have someone proof read-- even so, the content of the newsletter, IMO, was positive. Upgrade to 8.0 from 7.0 for only $295. Purchase a maintenance agreement and download immediately the 7.5 beta, then upgrade to 8.0 for free-- all for $395. Not bad. Certainly not as bad as some were thinking.
It's clear e-on wants to promote subscription plans for the professional line. And historically, they have always offered periodic discounts for Esprit. At $129 for the next couple weeks, it's a great deal. Plus they have some pretty good upgrade pricing from Vue 6 Easel and Esprit. So, my guess is it's just business as usual.
Btw, it looks like there won't be any release of any Vue (Esprit, Pro, Complete, Infinite) 7.4 until 7.5 is released, which it's not yet. So, if one wants those features now, the only way to get them is through the Infinite (xStream) maintenance agreement. That said, it is clear 7.5 is still considered beta software.

Quote - Cool. I can wait for version 8 then for $295. Maybe the trend will be maintenance customers get ".5" updates while everyone else have to wait.
Shawn,
While I have no such knowledge, I suspect you are correct in your observation.

Quote - Too bad any comment less than "singing the praises of Vue" is considered full of vile and contempt.
David,
Perhaps you need to reread my comments. They were made to inform you, not to insult you.
The things I mention, I would hope are helpful. As Alex pointed out, it's not uncommon to have one hour rendertimes per frame in this business. Max can't do all the things Vue can and vice versa. You certainly know renders can take from 1 minute to days depending on complexity, hardware, render settings etc.. The goal is to find the correct mixture.
I don't understand the disconnect. When you say one hour renders won't work for you, I'm just pointing out there are alternatives to one hour renders.
Frankly, the best alternative is what surveyman recommends, just download the free version of the PLE and take it for a spin.
Even if you do, chances are you may need some hand holding, as the learning curve can be a bit steep. You might want to check for some tutorials around for xStream/Max. A quick Google search located one at:
http://www.imakeu.com/Tutorials/Vue/
Another good idea would be to check in over at the e-on forums as there you may find those more knowledgable regarding xStream and Max.
Good luck,
Chipp

Quote - btw it is a bit of a diversionary tactic to compare to other poor performing software and claim "at least we aren't as bad as them".
I suppose you're referring to the TG comparison. It was not meant as diversionary, but to point out the problem with your perceptions, and how I had the same problem, but realized how silly I was after learning more about the TG program.
Just wondering, can your Max program really render multiple trillion polygon scenes, with radiosity, full spectral skys, infinite procedural terrains with millions of unique plants and combined wind effects, in 5 minutes? If so, then I have no idea why you would be in this forum. If not, then you're not comparing apples to apples.
