idova, Thanks for your post, It just occured to me that a lot of people may be unclear as to why we're doing this. Our purpose is not to prevent you from running it on multiple machines, or installing it home and on your office computer. Or moving it to another computer that you own. If anything we've taken steps to allow those scenarios. Two days after we shipped the Pro Pack, we could easily locate more warez servers that were giving it away than we'd sold copies. My hope is that whoever sold or gave it to people to pirate will not be one of the first to register their serial#. If that happens they'll have to contact us with their serial# to register and we obviously will be able to match that serial number with one that's available for download on warez. We're just trying to stop the massive illegal proliferation of the product. If you paid for it then you won't have any problems. If you're planning on distributing it, or getting it from warez, then you'll be SOL. It's that simple. The product will not run without being authorized, and that serial# is required and the number of times it's used will be tracked. **************************** Steve Yatson Product Manager Curious Labs Http://www.curiouslabs.com ****************************
Thread: Do you have questions about software security and Curious Labs? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Well I just posted a reply to about 8 questions that seems to have vanished. I'll be answering 15 through 20 a bit later. Sorry I'll be unavoidably detained for a bit. I'll also adress 21 but I must comment on this part:"Do we simply "get the shaft" because we like to have an upgraded system, and therefor have to go through an insane hassle everytime we even consider an upgrade?". I understand your frustration and fear of the unknown but you haven't gone through the process yet. It took me longer to set up online banking and to order tickets from Ticketmaster.com, so please lets keep this in perspective. This will be something that we will all unfortunately come to expect when buying software. I have 4 other apps that I own that require something similar. Piracy is forcing this on everyone. It's become a hobby. We're doing this out of necessity and we're trying to make it as painless for our legitimate users as posssible. We really have thought this out and as in just about anything else, there will be extreme cases. We will have to handle those on an individual basis as they come to us. We have quite a few users that swap hardware often, including some that have very tight deadlines. We have a great customer service department and I'm confident that we can minimize any hassle on your part. **************************** Steve Yatson Product Manager Curious Labs Http://www.curiouslabs.com ****************************

I just wanted to jump in and help Kupa out. PJF: 9)The code is generated using unique hardware identifiers. No personal information is used, and we don't check the contents of your drive except to locate your copy of Poser and Pro Pack. Crescent: 8)Both Poser and Pro Pack are hybrid CD's so we decided that two uses of your serial numbers was a must. One Mac and one for Windows. We actually allow your serial number to be registered 3 times. The third to hopefully eleviate the need to contact us, for example, when you get a shiney new Titanuim G4. Cheers: 10) To unregister will require contact with Curious Labs either through an automated web connection, calling Curious Labs, or faxing us. 11)Repartitioning will not remove the authorization.. Searose: 12) You do not have to reauth each time you format. 13)We absolutely do not check the hard drive at all for any software other than our own. **************************** Steve Yatson Product Manager Curious Labs Http://www.curiouslabs.com ****************************Thread: Ok, what should I beware of concerning the PP? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
We're working on such a page, and not specific to the Pro Pack, but Poser also. An FAQ/tech support type of thing. ******************* Steve Yatson Poser Product Manager http://www.curiouslabs.com *******************

Marie, There's no new file format but it is possible to compress runtime files to save disk space. The string in the open dialogue that's accessed from the walk designer is simply incorrect due to the routine being used. The options there should be: Character File{.CR2} Compressed Character File{.CRZ} Right now you only get Compressed Character File{*.CR We'll have it fixed soon and post a patch. I've asked QA to look into the conforming figure problem in max and post a reply as soon as we figure out what's going on if anything. Thanks ******************* Steve Yatson Poser Product Manager http://www.curiouslabs.com *******************
Thread: poser pro pack problem or me? | Forum: Poser Technical
TRAVISB, I've only seen this when moving a morphed figure through the Setup room but ScottA's explanation seems possible. Can you send me the file? We do want to have an updater out quickly and I'd like to have that file for testing. Also if you have a file that consistently causes the greying menus it would be really helpful. We're working on the Max4 plug now. You should get a message that the plugin is obsolete when trying the current versions under Max4. I haven't seen any system lock up yet due to an obsolete plugin but I suppose it's possible. We'll really try to get this out fast. I believe is a workaround for Vicky's textures. I'm going to try find out and if so, get it from one of our QA guys and post it as soon as I can. We hope to have this fixed in the first updater which will hopefully be done the same time as the Max4 plug. We're really watching the threads so if you have a problem ask about it. You can also send mail to me if you think you have a bug. steve@curiouslabs.com. I can't guarantee I'll respond in a timely manner but I will pass it on to QA and Tech Support... ******************* Steve Yatson Poser Product Manager http://www.curiouslabs.com *******************Thread: We who can't afford lightwave ...Poser still rocks | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes, the Pro Pack does require Poser 4. ******************* Steve Yatson Poser Product Manager http://www.curiouslabs.com *******************
Thread: Poser Pro Pack Question | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It Does work in 6.5 and has been tested. I'm not sure who sent that email out, but we actually recommend that you upgrade to 6.5 since 6.0 does not handle UV's correctly. There's no Platform or OS specific problems with 6.x and Poser that we know of at this time. 6.5 seems to be a huge improvement over 6.0 though.

Yes unfortunately it is. To what extent? It is possible to damage Runtime content. It's a good idea to have a good idea of what you're looking at before you run it.

That is ABSOLUTELY not true! It DOES work with LW6.5, and HAS been tested with LW6.5. I don't know where that came from. It's possible that whoever sent it was confused and meant Max 4. I'm the Poser product manager by the way.Thread: The Reason Why You Need Lightwave 6.5 ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It does work with 6.5. As it does with 6.0, 5.5, and 5.6. We recommend getting the free 6.5 upgrade if you have 6.0 because UV's were not properly supported prior to 6.5.If you do get the Pro pack take the time to look at the LW section of the Readme. We did our best to outline the differences in the LW versions as they related to Poser. BTW I'm the Poser Product Manager.

Max 4 was out a bit late for us to do any real testing. It's in the works and will be a free update when finished.Thread: ProPack- A Necessity or A Treat? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL

Hey, just a few comments. It has been tested with LW6.5 and we strongly advise that you upgrade if you are using 6.0.It's a free download. LW6.0 didn't correctly support UV mapping but with 6.5 your good to go. Also, and let me be clear, you are hosting a poser scene inside of LW with the Pro Pack, so YES, animation data is brought in, as are texture maps, props and the rest of the Poser scene. We're hoping that an entire Poser/Python community pops up around this. Let's call them Snake-Heads. :)The .rsr is no longer needed and for older Poser content, it's read in and a .png file is created which is entirely cross platform. The Setup room rocks. You can now bring in content from elsewhere and apply an existing bone structure, or create a new one. No more hierarchy files to create characters. One of the UI enhancements is the ability to view through up to 4 cameras at once. Hope this offers some insight. ThanksThis site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
