Bryster: thanks for the link, but I've already got all John's extra primitves; very useful stuff. Many thanks for the thought, though! Electroglyph, what about gears? I've just spent 2 days multi-replicating prism-primitives around the edges of cylinder-primitives to make a clock movement. Gears would be nice... 8-)

There are quite a lot of these about as freebies, particularly variations on squares & triangles, but what does seem to be missing are variants of cylinders & spheres. I would be very interested in something like chamfered cylinders, and any of the more common shapes like pyramids, octagons, etc that have rounded edges. Using round-edged objects makes things look a bit less "computery".
Thread: Fishy lighting revisited - anything worth keeping? | Forum: Bryce
It's a great idea for a pic, & I think you've done an excellent job. I bet it was far from easy. I agree that the fish might be repositioned, possibly the goldfish, as I don't think it's showing its best angle... What about a cheesy little plastic treasure chest or sunken ship in the foreground, just to make the point about it being an aquarium, or one of those aquarium aeriators with bubbles coming out of it? I think it's definitely worth re-posting if you decide to do more work on it.

Talking to people, I do English (the british variety) and French (could do Latin if they were still around). When dealing with the dominant species on the planet, I can get by in assembler, cobol, PL1, REXX, EXEC2, SAS, DOS, Korn Shell script, AWK and Perl. Also have a smattering of Java and Python. Shows what a sad life I've led 8-)

I think that one of the best things about the image (it's all good) is the wonderful windblown effect on the leaves, grass, and even the sky. I think that sometimes if you create a picture quickly something subconcious takes control, and you can actually end up with better results then if you'd thought about it and tweaked it a lot.

Chohole, another reason it might look familiar is that the house was used as the model for Lady Penelope's mansion in Gerry Anderson's "Thunderbirds" (knowing that dates me, doesn't it!) Thanks to everyone for your nice comments about the model. I just wish there was some hope on the horizon for improvements to Bryce to allow it to fulfill its full potential as a serious contender to the "real modelling apps"....

Thanks guys, but now I'm totally confused! 8-( I already have the Daz Buck, and I got Bloodsong's free Big Face Buck morphs, but when I try to use these I get "Can't find RuntimeGeometriesZygoteAnimalsBuckbfbuck.obj", which I assume means it can't find the original figure. The Daz buck is blBuck.obj, and is installed in RuntimeGeometriesZygoteAnimals. I can only assume I have the wrong buck to use with these morphs. Does anyone know if there is (or was) more than one Zygote Buck / Deer figure? Thanks for the info on the Doe and the Eagle; I will be renewing my Platinum membership I think!
Thread: a tad bit "jealous"..... | Forum: Bryce
Perhaps we should suggest to Curious Labs that they take on Bryce... it would save them having to write a decent render engine for Poser, and the two products would be back under one roof again. Their existing Poser users would find the Bryce interface very familiar, and they could maybe bundle the two packages at a discount. It would give the figure artists a great renderer and background-generation tool, and it might give us Poser figures/textures that import a little more easily into Bryce. Plus some hope for a Bryce 6...

I keep getting connection resets and SQL errors - "too many connections" Funny thing is I'm getting this on other sites as well... thought it was my ISP...
Thread: importing 3ds | Forum: Bryce
How many individual objects in the big files? Someone posted on here the other day that Bryce5 has a limit of 512 objects for a 3ds import. Could you try exporting in say, DXF, from Rhino and see if B5 will accept this?

Rayraz I think you read my mind - I did do a scene pretty much as you describe (see link). However it's still a WIP - the cathedral has so many objects that I'm having trouble with Bryce and I can't get enough detail into the rest of the scene. I might try rendering the building on its own, then mask-rendering the foreground scene on its own and putting the two together in photoshop. As for doing an interior - that's an intriguing thought! I'd love to... so much to do, so little time... ;)This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience. Our own cookies make user accounts and other features possible.
