Sure, but it's at 2048x2048. Give me your email, I'll send it over... OR I could just post it here? It's only like 10MB or whatever...

Not any better, alas it's still rendering but my tests suck. I think I'll put this one down, Ole' Yeller style, for a while and focus on something else until I figure out NURBS water... These terrains just aren't looking how I wanted...

You are dead on. An LCD does refresh, though. There's no software or hardware to tell it not to. So, every second each crystal is told to either keep it's color, or not keep it's color, but there is still some energy transfer from what I understand. The only problem with this is lifespan. Your LCD will never make it past the 8 year mark, alas... But I have seen some kickass LCD's, and if you're doing graphics at a set screen res and stuff, you'll never have any of the framerate problems we were talking about anyway, so who cares? I just like spouting off useless technical drivel sometimes, and I've been up for like ten hours working on some damned Brycean water... Grrr...

Some interesting statistics for anyone who cares... (of course, 90% of all statistics are made up on the fly, including the one I just typed!) "in 2000, video game and software sales roughly 6.5 billion US dollars in 2000, motion picture industry sales roughly 7.5 billion US dollars 29 million video game consoles sold in 2001 36 million households in the US have at least one (80% of households with children 13-17)" And also, the PlayStation's specs : "1995, PlayStation, 34 Mhz CPU, 2MB RAM, MaxRes 640 X 480, 24 bit colour, CDROM, launch price $300, 70 million sold" In many ways, this device spawned the latest console crazes. Without it's revenue, Gates might have never turned his evil eye towards the X-box, and the wonderful(laughable) Pentium 3 and Nvidia's Geforce might not have ever been so blasphemed... Funny Fact : The X-box 2's development kits ship with Apple G5 setups. No more Intel, no more Nvidia. Whoever thought you could play games on an Apple? With a one button mouse, no less!Thread: I'm considering a 24" Sony Monitor CRT. Any advice, warnings, etc? | Forum: Bryce
Aye, I can't imagine life without a CRT. I'm using a 17" Viewsonic, and far as I can tell it's the best 17" monitor ever made. LCD's and Plasma's don't have the refresh rates I need for (games!), and they are never, EVER going to be as bright as this bastard! Also, LCD's have a native resolution. Meaning, if you get an LCD monitor set at 1280x1024 natively, it has 1280 Liquid Crystals across, and 1024 Crystals vertically. So when you sqitch resolutions, you lose clarity as crystals can only be either on or off, not HALF of a crystal on and half off, and certainly not in thirds. I would go so far as to say that most people with LCD's, Drawbridgep excluded of course, have them for their small footprint and "futuristic" looks... Still, that's just technical BS. Get what looks good, just make sure you get a good deal!

Aye, but if it's a Bryce scene, how will the Posers use it?!?! Going along with what OCDDoug's latest image, perhaps find someone who wants to texture the scene in a collaberative effort? Looks tedious, but you gotta do SOMETHING with such a great kitchen!

It's entirely possible to make great skies in Bryce, it just requires that you spend a LOT of time in the DTE trying to make sense of what those idiots programmed... (Still, I love those idiots!) The Deep Texture Editor was, apparently, originally created only for the programmers to make Bryce preset texture, and was thrown in on Bryce 3D!'s Material Lab as a kind of "bonus", although how you can make procedural textures in Bryce without it is beyond me. Still, to answer your question? Sackrat was right, get Universe. Don't even waste your time with Bryce night skies... A child could do better with crayons. In the meantime try and use Photo Skies, you can find many online for free and simply map them to a 2D pict-object! Here's some links : (Astronomy Image-of-the-Day) http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html (Stellarium, a realtime 3D plantarium renderer) http://freeware.intrastar.net/planetarium.htm (and one other site I saw which had some cool pics...) http://www.astronomynz.org.nz/phoenix/images.htm Hope one of those helps!

Alas, many of you are sadly mistaken... It's NOT a PS-One, it's a PlayStation! The PS-One is a tiny, smaller version of the PlayStation that was released alongside the PS-2, as technology shrank they were able to get the bastard down to the size of a garden pea... (really, about the size of a large Discman!) Point in history : The PlayStation was the first video game console to produce games which grossed more than box-office hits. Many games on the PlayStation, such as Final Fantasy 7 and Gran Turismo 2, and of course Tomb Raider, helped to fund the massive video games corporations which are now (apparently) taking over the world!

Pretty smooth texture map, and BIG too! I like how the camo is kinda faded, but the decals are nice and crisp. Good stuff...

Aye, I've tried many techniques and just spent three hours attempting to create physical waves in Rhino (with the actual rock spire models in their correct places and whatnot), but to no avail... I'm just gonna have to let this one go and focus on materials and scaling... There's really no way to make the water "hit" the rockwork. In Bryce, it has to be faked. I may revert to some amount of postwork on this one, yet...

Aye, the PLE is useless, I've had it since Unreal Tournament 2004. My employer uses Maya 6 for Windows, finally, and they let me play on it after hours sometimes... Unfortunately I'm just in the marketing department and don't get to do graphics much at work anymore...
