Charlie Brown... check around, (if they have them in your area), at one of those "travelling computer shows". I go to the one at... http://www.supercomputersale.com/ every time it comes around. A couple of months back I picked up two IBM 15 gig HDs (on close out)for $125.00 each installed.

Thread: Chess set? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I donated a set of chess/backgammon/chinese checkerboard(s) to Renderosity for inclusion into the "company" store, You may want to contact DTHUREGRIF & find out when they will be available

Velvet Rose, I would think you could get rid of the seats with a trans map, (color the seats black & everything else white). That way you wouldn't have to fool around with the .obj file itself (I'll try it myself later tonight, now you've got me curious :-). As to alternative textures, that's why I included a template with the zipfile.
Thread: Canoe Stuff | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanx for the kind words... the zipfile is winging it's way to you via email, even as we "speak" :-) Contact info for the very kind gentleman who made the original .lwo file is... marvinl@amber.rc.arizona.edu

Thanx for the kind words...since the chessboard turned out so well I couldn't resist tinkering some more & it's evolved into a "Games Pack" now including separate backgammon & chinese checkers tex/bump maps too :-)
Thread: Dolphin Morph Target Needed | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Why not transmap it out?... just making a map with the fin black & everything else white then setting the transparency slider to 100% should do it
Thread: Darth said I should post this here | Forum: Community Center
I agree with Darth, it is a great idea, almost brilliant in it's simplicity (congrats bone :-). You're not really selling the information, what you're selling is the convenience & time savings of having all the tutorials & tips in one place. If a person wishes to they can still seek everything out on their own, but if this idea is adopted save a CD for me. IMHO my time is much more valuable than any nominal charge the compilation might carry.
Thread: Wish list goes here... | Forum: Community Center
Otay here goes... but try to keep the snickers down to a minimum & keep in mind I know nothing about modeling so I don't know how easy/difficult any of these would be Clothing- Vicki Bathrobe terry cloth w/tie Long dress gloves Sweats Trenchcoat Poser Dork Handlebar Moustache w/ morphs to "Fu Manchu" style "Buddy Holly/Drew Carey" style glasses Chaps Props Canoe w/paddles Dome tent Divan (lounging couch) Revolving door Ladies hand mirror Purses Hammock JetSki My apologies if any of these items are available anywhere, These are just things I've either looked for & not found, then subsequently worked around or done without
Thread: Help Keep Renderosity ALIVE!!! | Forum: Community Center
Apologies if this posts twice but the 1st time I tried to send, it just disappeared!!! Although the idea for voluntary contributions is a good one, at best, it's only a short term fix. Why not consider incorporating a couple of the suggestions together? One possible scenario, (& there are others), would be to have a nominal yearly membership fee in order to keep it affordable to everyone & then rebate that amount, (or possibly to "sweeten" the deal, a bit more) on the users 1st purchase from the online store? This cut would come entirely out of Renderositys' end, so as not to penalize the artist, but would give Jack, ed, et al an immediate & ultimately predictable influx of $$$ that would be paid back at a much slower rate as people bought things. This would solve a number of problems. An affordable membership fee would drive out the least number of current members. It would serve to promote traffic, & ultimately, (at least in theory) create more purchases from the store. Another suggestion would involve "levels" of membership. Again a low initial amount so as not to freeze too many people out, but an escalating scale so, $100.00/year gets you "X" number of benefits, $50.00 gets you "Y" benefits, etc. etc. These "bennies" could use the ideas of a "Renderosity Calendar", CD with models, morphs, textures, etc contributed by the more skilled of us here.
Thread: Is Vickey/Millie really worth the money? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
VicMillie has been more than worth the money, especially after the freebie morph pack was released. For me just the time saved in "post production" due to the increased vertices was worth it.
Thread: Freeware character wanted | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have the "Cara Loft" character in rar format. Phil Hokusai graciously gave me permission to post it to usenet when requested. As I recall it is being stored on a webpage but I don't have the URL. If you don't find it elsewhere feel free to contact me at cooler@ameritech.net & I can email (5 rar files 1.64mb), it to you.
Thread: texturmaker free!!!!!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanx for the link I just d/l'ed it myself, but from a cursory glance it seems that the freeware offered is a texture viewer/previewer. The shareware on the page is the actual texture creator ($35.00). Still some very cool effects in the viewer & should come in handy for those of us who do web design

Thread: Anyone else have this problem with transparencies? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had a similar problem when making a mesh version of the unitard. You have to make certain that the "Transparency Falloff" slider is set to 0% otherwise Poser will attempt to "blend" the edges into the background
