Quote - Again, doesn't make it right. If this person had been a true pirate, he would have kept quiet about his mode of acquiring the software, don't you think?
I agree, you also must take into consideration that Poser has problems and is not working properly. Any pirate can download any software that is working and without any problem

MeshLab doesn't preserve groups and materials and turns quads into traingles.
Use PropViewer 3, it can correct most the problems of a mesh.

Quote - Load figure cr2, load hair hr2, save the combination in the figures library.
Load this saved combinations cr2, and it works when you put a transparant plane in front.
Now close Poser, start Poser again and this time load the plane first and after the plane was loaded, load the cr2 with hair and see what happens

OpenGL is unable to handle transparencies in a correct way, what can do is limited to only one transparency in the path of a ray

Turn off the transparency of the hair and set the trans map image to none and the hair will appear propรฉrly behind the fog

Thread: Weird fog problem? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It's a preview mode problem. The hair use transparency and the fog plane also does.
The preview mode is not sorting and puting the transparencies in the right order. Depending which transparency is rendered first, fog and hair, the result is correct or not.
If you load the hair first and then the fog or the fog first and then the hair the result is different.
With more transparent planes or objects the result is even more unpredictable.
The final render (firefly) handles transparencies in the right way.

To create a Lux material structure can require some work, but once it is done it is very easy to change and customize. To apply the material to a figure is as easy as a material pose with the difference that is also very easy to customize. A material pose is very easy to use, but nothing easy to customize.
The example that I posted is vicky.lxm (I changed lxm to txt extension for posting) I have created only one as I have used very little LuxRender. Now if I want a scene with Vicky I only need to put
include "vicky.lxm"
in the *.lxs file before vicky geometry or include
It's a like a material library, in my case is very poor because the library has only one element. With time it will have more elements and shall replace the text editor with some GUI.
You can have a library of geometries too, table.lxo, chair.lxo, monster.lxo, mike.lxo and so on....

Quote - Although you might have a point somewhere, somehow, I just don't see what it is. Sorry. Please clarify (as I'm sure it's me failing).
But your comment reminds me of my own early days in Computer Graphics, say 32 years ago, ....
It is only an example and it doesn't mean that you have to edit a text as in PovRay, you can use a GUI.
Analyze the text and see how it works and compare with Poser. For example you have Victoria 4 that has a lot of materials. In Poser if you want her to have a darker or an blue skin you have to go to the material room and change one by one the diffuse color of each material and it are a lot.
A direct translation of each Poser material to Lux material will change nothing, you still will have to change one by one the diffuse color of each Lux material.
But if you create a LuxMaterial as in mine example you will need to change only one parameter to have all the materials of the figure change. You can have a GUI with parameters such as skin color, skin reflectivity and so on that work on all the figure and not material by material.

He, he, he. It's a Preview rendering problem.
You are using a two-sided mesh, so you have a front face and a back face. The vertices are not weldedand so each face has its own set of vertices.
During the rendering process the render engine must decide which face have to render. The faces that have the normal looking forward are rendered, but for each point there are always two faces with forward normals in the overlaping region and the renderer is picking the wrong face. The renderer seams to be biased and not symetric, in one side picks the right face and in the other side the wrong face. It also looks as the distance of the faces are not used for the decision of picking the correct face (No Z-buffer ???)
Inverting the normals of the mesh solve nothing, the distance between the front and back face is very small.
In the final render there is no problem, the renderer always render the correct face

Thread: A question about Daz Studio 4's cr2 export ability | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - > Quote - The Daz Studio Collada exporter works great; the result is a rigged posable character in Maya. Sadly, it appears that the advertized PP2012 Colada import is false advertizing as all you get is the mesh. Hopefully S-M will either fixย their Coladaย importย or stop claiming that they support it...
This is wat Smith Micros claims PoserPro 2012 can do

Stop with your false accusations

Is Collada format able to export cr2 ? I didn't find in Collada format specification all the elements needed to support cr2 files.

Quote - > Quote - I did some funny experiments. The scene is a figure, a simple plane with refraction index and a paraboloid mirror mesh behind the plane.
If you put a light at the focus of the parabaloid you could make an interesting custom spotlight...
I think that with bidirectional surface integrator it must work

Thread: Prop with morphs to reference an obj? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Delete the txt extension and leave is as pp2. Import the pp2 into Poser or put the pp2 in some prop library and load it. You will have a ball and a cube because it is a valid pp2 file.
Now take again the CubeBall file and rename to CubeBall.obj. Import it in Poser or any other application. Do you see now a nice cube and ball or something strange ? Depending on the application you use to import this fake obj even can make your app crash. Poser at least doesn't crash.
