Actually, I'm planning a project that will use alpha planes like this. My plan is to recreate an entire structure based on photos, and then do some animation. I was wondering just how many alpha plans are in your image?

Thanks. Funny thing is, it seems to happen sometimes even with the poses I buy. You'd think theprofessionals would get this right, even if I don't:)

I wasn't laughing to begin with. As for your unquestioned (and quite impressive) ability to post crap, I don't think anyone would dispute that.

The 2 images you posted in your gallery are clearly composites, in 1 case of a single rendered fern pasted over a PHOTOGRAPH of a gorilla. The second has an exploding P4 female pasted (so badly pasted that you can see the cell reflections around the figure) onto another PHOTOGRAPH. These hardly qualify as "rendered in Vue". And the use of someone else's photo as your own is probably a violation of copyright, unless you can confirm that these are public domain or your own. Then again, perhaps you may now appreciate how difficult creating good Vue/Poser images is. And on the off chance that you want to try, there are excellent tutorials here for both these programs. I don't mean this sarcastically, since I hope you will straighten up and fly right.

I'm responding here to the assertions of rmuller, and I don't want what I about to say here to sound like a critcism of pmermino's work, which is absolutely fantastic, and I hope I'm that good someday. But I like people. I like people in my images. To me a place without people seems a bit empty, even if it's beautiful. So people. But you either have to get them or make them. Yes, if one wants to go to the trouble, one can build those people from scratch in Studio Max or C4, or whatever, and bone them, and then texture them in BodyPaint, or whatever, and then bring them into Vue, but why would I want to do that when I have Poser and lots of figures and textures ready to go with little or no modification? And for those who say this as not real art because it's too easy, what about photography? Is it an art? Did Ansel Adams make the forests and mountains he photographed? To me, 3d art represents a meeting of two forms, photography on the one hand, and painting on the other (postwork and so on). And it can be done well, or badly, or (as seems to be the case with rmuller) not at all.

Actually, when I did it in Photoshop, it was black against a white background. I'll try it the other way and make sure about the black. But it was definately an alpha plane.

It's kind of like a zip file. You need to open it first using something like WINRAR. You can get a free to buy version at: http://download.com.com/3000-2250-10007677.html

I haven't read all the comments posted here, so maybe somebody already mentioned all this, but I'd take that terrian (the one she's standing on) into the editor and work on it some, trying to erode it down some, maybe ues a function to clip off some of the high spots. Right now, it looks like a hill that should be somewhere behind her, rather than one she's standing on. Also, make sure you actually drop her onto the terrain so the shadows are right. For the forrest in the background, I'd sprinkle (using the scatter do-dad) some alpha plane firs in front of and among the terrian firs you've created, since this will make it look like two differnet species of tree (I think those are terrain trees, if I'm wrong ignore the following). And also (I never shut up do I?) you should take the terrain you did the firs trees on back into the editor and click the erode defusive button once or twice, since this will give you fatter, more realsitic firs. You may have to then adjust the size and position of the terrian a bit, but it will be worth the trouble. Good luck:)

I do say thanks. But a bit of self-deprecating humor isn't a bad thing. Sorry if I gave offense.

Thanks. It's amazing how you can spend hours searching the bowels of the internet for something that you know has to be there, and still not find it. Thanks again.
