Now that is a good idea, showing Vector how many downloads have been done for Bryce products. Perhaps those who have these figures can band together and email the numbers along with a nice letter to Vector. BabaLouie
Thread: Need to know how you guys really feel about the petition thing... | Forum: Bryce
Drac, It can't hurt, any well thought out non-bitter petition I will sign. Obviously, by my previous posts, I feel it is a lost cause but, I WILL sign the petition. :) Let us hope that Vector takes the high road and offers Bryce at a reasonable price to Mr. Musgrave. BabaLouie

It is my understanding that the Vector group is out of town this week, meeting with the folks from Corel. Vector has a hugh responsibility concerning Corel and their employees. Corel got themselves into this mess and hopefully Vector will be able to save the maximum number of jobs and products. To us this is about Bryce, to Vector it is about investment, they will not 'plunder' Corel as the core of the Corel business is packaged as a group of tools, together they will thrive, spun off they will die. It goes with out saying, that it is painfully obvious that Bryce is not a part of this core group of tools. I am nobody, a nothing in life, but I did call Vector and Vector did tell me that they would continue to market and develope the current products. I applaud Vector for this, especially in light of the fact that in the last 11 years I have been sold twice and I know what it is like to have your job on the chopping block. I hope that as many of our Canadian friends can keep their job as is possible. On the question of Bryce, I was told that they really could not comment on Bryce at this time. I understand their reluctance to comment, this is often the case if a product is being discontinued or is being offered for sale. Mum is the word. I certainly hope that Ken Musgrave can manage an agreement with Vector concerning Bryce and I hope that Vector takes the high road concerning Bryce and the users of Bryce, and offers Bryce to Mr. Musgrave at a price that will enable Mr. Musgrave to buy Bryce. In the long run, Vector is not the bad guy here, they will ultimately save the Corel products, in spite of the Corel managements inability to manage. As far as the petition, you can certainly consider me as a signer of the petition. BabaLouie
Thread: "Let Them Eat Cake" A Previously Deleted Post From Vue Forum | Forum: Bryce
Sounds a bit like my experience with CL a few years back. One of two reasons I did not upgrade to P5, the second being their registration scheme. It is sad that they have treated you this way, about all you can do sometimes is vote with your wallet. Is there a toll free number you can call? Now I see why they discounted VUE so deeply for Bryce owners, I suppose they were trying to broaden their user base in anticipation of the 'PRO' release. :) BabaLouie
Thread: Corel's been bought, I think it's time to go for the jugular -all read please.. | Forum: Bryce
In light of the fact that Corel no longer employ any of the Bryce programers, as far as I know, a petition would be a waste of effort. It would certaintly make us feel as if we have attempted to save Bryce, but in the final analysis, Bryce is already doomed, at least in the hands of Corel. When BEOS when t*ts up, I witnessed the same, well actually a more feverish reaction from the BEOS users, but once again, the decision had already been made and BEOS is no more. In this and other groups I have seen comments about a new Bryce 6, or perhaps Bryce 5 going gpl and so forth. All pipe dreams. The only realty we have now,is to patiently wait, not get our hopes up and pray that somebody buys Bryce. Even then, if Bryce is bought, it is a strong possibility that it would take at least a year for a full version release, unless of course, all the ex-Bryce programmers bought Bryce, then a release may come quicker. :) If Bryce were bought by another party, one would surmise that Bryce would then be gutted and used in another application. I hope that does not happen, but the learning curve would be quite high for even the most accomplished programmers to sit down and learn the code for something they did not write, which is why Bryce would likely be gutted and smaller routines used in another program. It takes a lot of capital and a good size, experienced team of programmers to handle the complexities of a program the size of Bryce, even if Bryce is bought, and is not gutted, I would not expect anything more that bug fixs for at least a year and a half. MD Well, I can not find the article I was really looking for. The basics of the article dealt with the fact that not all power supplies would output the wattage as specified and when tested under a load, some of them failed from slightly to severly, severly being the power supply caught on fire. I do recall that the Antec and I believe a unit named Vanta did quite well. I have used 5 or 6 Antec power supplies and have been quite satisfied with them. www.antec-inc.com www.pcpowerandcooling.com BabaLouie

Md Here ya go .. took a bit, but I found 3 articles, they make interesting reading. BabaLouie Http://www17.tomshardware.com/column/20011012/index.html Http://www17.tomshardware.com/howto/20030609/ Http://www17.tomshardware.com/howto/20021012/

MD Not knowing what components are in your system, it would be difficult to say, but, I will say this, the power supply is the last place a person would want to get tight fisted with when it comes to money. In short you get what you pay for. :) Antec and PC Power and Cooling make excellent power supplies. A good power supply does more than just provide power, it needs to regulate the input and output as well as cool itself and protect your motherboard and components. Take a look at the two above sites and hunt up some reviews, I believe that Tom Pabst did a smoke test on a load of power supplies earlier this year. Some of the power supplies did actually catch fire. BabaLouie
Thread: Little Renderosity Annoyances. | Forum: Bryce
Personally, IMHO, if an account has not logged on in 45 days, it should be discontinued. Why? This person is not actively participating at this site, they are sucking up a user name and other hardware/software facilites. I realise that there are folks that post/participate at several sites, as long as they participate actively it should not be a problem. The short life span of an idle account would probably deter, to some extent, those that bounce back and forth between sites just for purpose of trolling, well hopefully. :) BabaLouie ( was skydiver )
