Maybe you could try to reinstall and see if it appears then?

Or, there is a version posted at RuntimeDNA. It is for the original Poser Pro but it is almost identical to the one I have in PP2010.

In my installation (Intel) it is also under the menu item Scripts->MaterialMods.

I agree, please let the products stay in the marketplace until the vendors themselves remove them.

It has happened to me as well - finding old products no longer for sale that I would have purchased if I could.

 I put the script in the poserScripts folder and called it Testdir.py and this is what I got:

 When I try to run a python script with the second version I get this error message:

NULL (or empty) script name passed to PEPythonEngine:DoScript()

The script doesn't behave on my Mac with PP2010.  When I double-click a script nothing happens at all - it doesn't work and I get no error messages.

The script allows me to choose a python editor and the "Edit script" option in the menu isn't greyed out anymore but I can't actually edit anything - when I choose edit nothing happens.

I downloaded Dizzi's script as well and it seems to work, at least the simple scripts I tried with it:

This bug doesn't affect everyone, so presumably none of the testers found it. I've imported all my libraries and have no trouble at all viewing the contents.

I only found a minor glitch, which seems to be more or less specific to my system, as Technical Support couldn't reproduce it although it is very reproducible on my system. It shows up when the name of a folder starts with a #. I have an old set of poses with names like "#PT_Floor" etc. In this case the thumbnails don't show up. The item is still loadable though, and the simple fix is to change the name of the folder.

 And thanks to you both! Before I read this thread I thought I couldn't do anything about the automatic settings window always coming up. I don't remember having to do anything in P7 to change it to open the manual settings window.

At first P8 would open with the automatic settings window and I only use the manual ones, but now I just made a test.

I opened P8, went to Render settings, changed to manual settings and chose "Save settings".

Then to Poser Preferences, Documents tab, clicked "Set preferred State" (Launch to preferred state is selected), clicked OK and closed Poser.

When I restarted: Bingo! the manual settings window comes up.

 And why the birthday? In Sweden where I live that is part of something like a Social Security Number and I don't like to part with that information.

An external library is exactly what you said: adding an addtional Runtime through the libraries. And you can have several. I have sorted my content in different libraries to make it easier to find i e Victoria 4, Michael 4 etc.

I think there was somebody asking about a similar problem in the DAZ forums. I don't remember if there was a solutiion though.  Also IIRC there was somebody else whose external runtimes worked fine when they put them someplace in the Documents folder (Users/myusername/Documents/somefolderhere).

Also I find that I can add both a folder containing a Runtime folder and the Runtime folder itself to Poser 7 (mac, leopard, Intel). There's a folder called Runtime in my applications folder that either DAZ Studio or Carrara installed there. i tried adding that to Poser 7 and sure enough, it turns up in the list with the name "Applications". :)
