To be honest it maybe best for you to contact E-on support so you can get the correct answers to these important questions. Renderosity is a good place to get opinions for sure as everone seems to have one. To get specific answers before you make any investments contacting the sorce maybe your best bet. These are my systems specs I am by no means an expert on systems however. Operating system: Windows XP Pro CPU (type & freq.): P4 2.4 mghz RAM & HD space: 1.00 GB of Ram 80gig HD space Video board: NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 I also asked Steve Bell this question and this was his answer hope this may help. Regards. Question What is the Ideal system? by sbell I'd recommend a dual Athlon system. No need to go for the very latest. You can usually save a significant amount of money if you give up on a few hundreds of MHz. Keep in mind that a dual system will render almost twice as fast as a single proc system. Go for a lot of fast RAM. 1GB at least. GeForce 4 based board should be good. I don't think it's worth going for the latest and greatest video boards. It won't change the way you work all that much (IMO). Hope that helps.

I think you are on to the problem Bog I only have a 1 gig of ram and V4P will pop up a window on very large scenes that I want to render in large sizes and say something like this render will require 873g of ram and you have to click ok before it will start any rendering so the program has been modified in my version to at least recognize the situation. 2 gigs should be plenty however as you mentioned Poser can really raise that requirement a lot. My next machine I am going to shoot for at least 5 gigs of ram to avoid some of these limitations. All problems with the program interest me as I am still testing it so thank you for bring this up. Regards.
Thread: New to Vue... does not import .pz3 files at all. | Forum: Vue
Well just opened up Vue4.2 its been awhile since I used it. Clicked object to load found my pz3 file in the directory clicked it and was asked to find the Poser exe. file so I went to the poser file and clicked it and every thing loaded great. Hope this is of some assistance for you on just how to do it. If this is not working then we may need to make sure your vue4.2 is up to date perhaps. Regards.

Using one scene rendered as an alpha plane and then using it as a portion of your next scene is a great way to save on polygon count to be sure. If you group your trees and put them in a separate layer you can turn that layer off by clicking the small eye looking icon on the right. X-frog trees also can be made in a lower polygon count I think as I don't have that program I can not really test this out. I do know in V4Pro you can increase and decrease polygons in any given plant or tree in the plant editor and that really is helpful. Good luck on your effort no doubt you are learning a lot over all this and BTW so am I. Regards.

Well the results went well I can render to disc with out any problem in what ever size. I must admit I did have this problem in an earlier version of v4p however it seems to be fixed in the latest update. I would be interested in any error reports or examples of this problem and if is repeatable. Thanks for bring it up. Regards

Have you tried to save the scene and then reboot and try it again? Sometimes I have to do this myself however I can never repeat the problem so it is hard to report. There are ways to reduce your polygons as mentioned in another thread by turning off certain layers or perhaps save the high poly objects to be added last? Just some thoughts. Would like to hear more on this problem and if it is repeatable. Regards

I was a former Brycer myself since Vue3 I have never looked back. Bryce is an excellent program to be sure however Vue I find to be more flexible and much easier to accomplish my ideas of creations. Try it you'll like it is my bet. Thanks for asking before hand as this shows your serious nature about computer generated art. Regards, shoop3D.com

bogwoppet, will try and duplicate this error tonight on a large render to disc as it may take a day or so to render a large scene but I will get back to you on results. Thanks for the heads up and if this is a problem it should be reported and fixed. Regards.
