In the main, my wife likes my art. But she does somehow regard it as "cheating", and says she would prefer me to get back into physical painting/drawing again. But I like the effects I can get in digital art, the lighting etc, that would take me months of trying to achieve in paint. Plus, there's no drying time, and also if I don't like a pose I can just repose it and render again, in a matter of minutes, something that would take hours if I was drawing it.
It's funny, cos I originally got Poser for the very reason it was invented in the first place: to act as a virtual 'life-model" for artists.
Thread: new mac user problems loading bryce and poser. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
 Hi,
I'm a longtime Mac user, since the early 90's. I've also been using Bryce & Poser since versions 4 (currently on Poser 7 and Bryce 6). Congratulations: once you get to grips with it, you'll have a (mostly) trouble-free life. No more security worries, and simplicity itself to run:)
I just got a new Mac Pro a month ago. It too came with Snow Leopard. But I heard about some issues, particularly concerning the creation of PDF's from Adobe software. As I use this function a LOT in my work, I decided not to risk it, and did a complete system reinstall back to 10.5.7 (which is what I was using before) before transferring my stuff across.Â
However, I'm not aware of any issues with Poser or Bryce, and suspect that the reason might be as suggested above: that you're trying to install the files with the wrong expander.
Try the free 'stuffit expander' or 'MacZip': they work fine for me. I sometimes have issues with .rar files that are created on a PC: they give me the scrolling window with lots of code instead of what I expect to see. I usually avoid downloading .rar files.
good luck
Thread: Is it illegal to incorporate morphs from DAZ in a product? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ah, that's what I was seeking: to supply the dial settings so that people who had already purchased the package from DAZ could get the same effect. Obviously, people who hadn't already purchased the package would get no result, and merely the texture would load.
Thanks very much. Just thought I'd better check to save myself a lot of grief:)

Thread: How big is your runtime folder ?.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - They have to be installed there, but you can make a copy of the files installed and put them into your external runtime. That's what I've done. The only time I access the main poser runtime is for materials which I keep in one place, primatives and Python scripts.Â
I don't understand: do you mean you're not actually using the V4 in your Poser runtime, but the copy in your external runtime? If not, I don't see the point of taking up even more space with copies.
Thread: How big is your runtime folder ?.... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi, I've currently got 28 external runtimes, on an external hard drive, arranged as: Aiko3 & Morphs Aiko3 Clothing Animals Buildings Creatures David & Morphs David Clothing DAZ Skeletons Dinosaurs Effects & Poses Freak & Morphs Freak Clothing Furniture & Household Hair M3 & Morphs M3 Clothing Misc Items Nature Other People Other People's Clothing Stephanie & Morphs Stephanie Clothing Tools & Weapons V3 & Morphs V3 Clothing The total is around 25GB. V4/morphs/clothing is in my Poser 7 runtime, which totals 3.16GB. This arrangement has worked fine for me up to now, but I'm about to get a new Mac (a 3.2GHz Mac Pro), and it's time for a little spring cleaning. My new mac will have bags more room and bags more processing power than my current machine, so I'm thinking of moving everything back to the main hard drive (but keeping a back-up on the external). Given V4 has GOT to be in the Poser 7 Runtime, this looks like the way things are moving, and I suspect we can expect to see M4 and other future figures requiring the same. I'm wondering what the future holds, because if everybody does this (not just DAZ) then our Poser runtimes are going to get overcrowded again. Even if I move everything back, I'll still keep it in sub-folders and load as and when I need it, just to speed things up a bit.
Thread: Questions for Poser 7 Mac Users | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I guess I'm just going to have to bite the bullet and give it a go. I really would be happier with a nice graphic interface and a button to click though:)

Thanks for that. Frankly though, text editing scare the hell out of me. Aside from the fact there's very few decent text editing apps out there for the Mac (although some new ones have appeared very recently, they're getting some dodgy reviews). I'd really like a simple little app that did this for me: isn't there one you know of? Isn't there anyone out there in Poserland who could create one?
Thread: Questions for Poser 7 Mac Users | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think I've ever felt so foolish:) Sometimes we miss the most obvious of things... guess I'd been staring at the screen for too long LOL. I have now clicked the plus, got a message saying the materials didn't exist, would I like to create them? I clicked Yes, and the file was duly created. I have now successfully applied the textures to V4, and then I clicked on the Pose file to apply the Pose. However, this still only applied the Poses I'd created myself, and didn't include the commercial Poses..... any ideas why this should be so? Is there some sort of restriction on re-saving commercial poses? Moving back to creating a single character for sale: which files have I just created, and what would I need to include in a product? Many thanks.

Quote - I hope my tone wasn't abrasive; it wasn't supposed to be. I'm a mac user since August - all of my Windows boxes in deep storage.
No, not at all, anyway you can be as abusive as you want as long as I get the answers:) And congratulations on joining the ranks of the Mac: you made a wise choice:)

Quote - Poser 7 should work much better on the Intel machine than on the G4. I had it on a G4 and it was pretty non functional but it runs smoothly on my new machine (but I am not sure about 10.5).
That's great news. My new Mac will be coming with Leopard, so I guess I'll find out:)
The easiest thing for the materials is this.
Set it up how you like, to to the material room, In there there will be a plus, on the bottom of the library area, click that, tell it material collection versus single material save it. That should be good for P6 and P7.
Ah, now this is puzzling: there's no plus sign at the bottom of my library when I'm in the materials room. In fact, there's nothing there at all.

Strange, cuz for a long time I didn't have a credit card, and the ONLY way I could pay for purchases here was with PayPal. I've been a member here for 5 years, and I've only ever used PP here. My first purchase was in early 2003, using PP. But in that 5 years, I've seen some pretty racy items for sale, particularly in the area of female attire. So I'm guessing that there's no real "policing", and the rules, such as they are, are actually fairly lax. I mean, if you can have torture devices, you must be allowed to have items for tying people up, right? I guess they draw the line at sex toys, and stuff like that.
