hi all, as BB has advocated already, lots of stuff is available already just to save you sorting out things all over again. And it does need an update, I guess, due to new developments. But all notions on basics, principles, settings etc will be fine. Happy Posing, aRtBee

Thread: Cloth room ... tips ... tutes ... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This table dates from the times that Poser did not had a Cloth Room at all, and perhaps even did not even existed itself. Cloth Room itself originates from a 3DS Max 2 plugin.
See http://www.book.artbeeweb.nl/dynamics-iii-2-3-values-on-the-net/ and http://www.book.artbeeweb.nl/dynamics-iv-3-cloth-simulation-in-perspective/ I wrote on this about 4 years ago. Just consult my website to build an understanding of the Cloth Room parameters, and don't forget to take an aspirine every now and then when wading through the Advanced section. Alien brain is recommended.
have fun.

Thread: aRtBee? Any one know where I can find him? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
hi Boni, and all others,
I'll post in the sitemail as well. I guess I've structurally eliminated the tech issues of my Missing Manuals site, and revamped the site layout as well. Material Room is available directly as http://www.book.artbeeweb.nl/book-poser/material-room/ so you can guess the location of all the poser stuff (Hair Room, Cloth Room, and more), and all the stuff respectively.
A lot of material is waiting in Draft mode to be published, and I've got the Poser 11 extentions under investigation too.
All the best, Ronald

hi Boni, and all others,
I'm still alive, and so is the "books" website. So let me answer some questions raised above, and in site mail and contact form. Thanks for those, anyway.
About the site: It worked last week, but this funny looking book makeup (theme) continues to struggle with new versions of Wordpress and new versions of plugins it uses. Thanks for pointing out it went wrong again, I've disabled the major cause of issues and now it runs sort of fine again. However, it's this theme which got out of date and I have to change the site to another layout to ensure it keeps on working for a long time. That implies that one day the current reference http://www.book.artbeeweb.nl/?book=material-room into the material room pages will disappear, as will alike references into the cloth room pages, and the other ones. They will be replaced by other refs. But in all cases, the site front door www.book.artbeeweb.nl will remain intact. I'll give you a change warning, promise. And Rendo site mail always works.
About me: To say the least, I have not been doing well the previous year or so. I'll save you the horror stories but I managed to run into all issues on money, jobs, home, marriage, physical and mental health at the same time. But it didn't kill me so I'm recovering now. The last months I've been back to Rendo as well, passively, reading forum entries, visiting galleries and more. I'm not into actively participating yet, but that will come in due time too. At least I've picked up making images again.
see you, Ronald

Thread: Image comments: a community service | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Boni, I've commented on images and encouraged artists in the galleries for say 10 years. Then Rendo stopped with the e-bots, that alerted me when one of my fav artists had issued a new entry. This sort of forced me to stop visiting the gallery, as I have to wade through lots and lots of images which are not of my interest, to (not) find the ones I like. I also experience that it stopped various artists from issuing into the gallery, as they saw a drop in visitors and comments.
So: give me back the e-bot alerting, and I'll be back commenting.
PS: I would encourage e-bot alerting on freebies as well, as I do have my fav artists in there too. It is working fine on Marketplace. I would also encourage e-bot alerting on the forum. Now it exists for threads, but I'd like a note when one of my fav guru's posts anything anywhere. Give it a thought.

"parenting the cloth to a bodypart of the figure will keep the cloth with the figure"
This is not true (*) for all cloth vertices in any dynamic group, these are driven bij the sim mechanism only which looks at external forces (gravity, wind/air damping), at other cloth vertices (stretch), and at the vertices of any underlying object (collision)
This is true (*) for all vertices in the choreographed group (this is what choreographed is about, child object follows parent)
This is not true (*) for all vertices in the constrained group, these will stick to specific vertices of the underlying object whatever parent/child relationship is present
This is not true (*) for all vertices in the soft of rigid decorated group, these will stick to specific vertices of the cloth itself from any of the other groups
(*) as tested on PoserPro 2010, and communicated in this forum and in my tutorials. The sim result is not relative to the position of the parent object, when you move / animate the parent figure after the sim, the cloth won't follow but the sim needs to be re-run. Not retested on PP2012 / 14. You never know :-)

My personal opinion: I like Firefly a lot for its artistic functions, but it takes far to much time and effort (and dedicated skills etc) to bring it close enough to quasi photo real / PBR like results. That's it, have fun !
