Thread: Corel Comes Through! | Forum: Bryce
i'm glad to hear that- looks like product support will be just fine from now on : ) i've heard that corel's a pc-based company though, and am wondering if the mac side of bryce will slip... anyone have any insights/information? -Gecko
Thread: Grand Piano model- almost complete | Forum: Bryce
thanks guys :) i think this one's going in the store pretty soon... a couple things missing as of yet: hammers (ouch!) a pinblock (where the strings are wound... aka 5000000000000000000 little brass pins :P) the brass frame the strings are strung around (with the steinway logo inside which i have, coincedently, a heightmap for :) ) there's probably more but i really cant think of anything right now lol Gecko
Thread: Answer to Gecko's challenge posted. | Forum: Challenge Arena
Love it! great realism- only things i can see (minor details..) are that the coins seem a little too big and the transition from the wall to the floor seems a little odd also... maybe a wood border or something like that... but in any case (esp. since you're not going to change it :) ) it's a great picture!! Well done! -Gecko

gotcha Locke- will do ASAP (of course, with school, etc. it may be a little while :) ) and rosh- just a reminder- it doesn't have to be a photo- it can even be something you make up (sci-fi, etc), but try to make it as realistic as possible (objects as well as materials and skies) Gecko

sounds neat! not quite sure what you mean by intrusion into nature.. you mean a nature vs. progress theme? and i think i'll take you up on that rosh :)... hmm challenge... how about making a scene (subject doesn't matter) in bryce (imported objects, of course ;) but they have to be your own) that is as real as you can make it. try to replicate a photo, for example ; ) Gecko

Thread: The Modeler's Table #2 | Forum: Bryce
ok this is kinda ticking me off... i wrote the equivelent of a small essay in here :P and it didn't post... sigh such is life... ok anyways i think i will add landing gear... sometime ;) thanks everyone for commenting... boney- great idea! i'll werk on that too... just one question- dremel? can you tell i havn't modeled (physically, that is :) ) for a while? and jstawarz2- i don't think i'm gonna put it in the free stuff- mainly cause i can't upload to my site (:P don't ask) instead of emailing it i think i'll just try to describe how i made this right here so here we go... the handle is simple a cylinder set to positive grouped with a stretched sphere set to intersect (for the curved shape). the bumpy shiney middle place thingy ;) is one main cylinder forming the base and about 30 cylinders arranged in a circle around it (i moved the origin handle to the center of the big cylinder and mult-replicated). the small cylinders were then cut by negative cubes (i think it was cubes...) to get the 'ridge' thingys... hehe... the blade itself is all cubes, positive and negative. i'm sure you can figure that one out if you look at an x-acto knife while you're doing it :). Thread: Selecting objects | Forum: Bryce
an easier way to select objects is using the control-click feature. if you control-click a mass of wireframe objects, a pop-up menu appears and you can select specific objects from there. another way to select objects (or object types, i.e. lights) is to click on the icon in the very bottom right hand corner (it looks like a circle with grid lines on it). once you click that, a menu appears that covers the animation controls. you can select individual objects or object types through this menu. along with the tab and plain old clicking, those are the only ways i know ; ) Gecko

Thread: Bryce and Limp Bizkit? | Forum: Bryce
I'm actually not sure if it's bryce or not... i'd assume so it looks very much like it. when i saw this at first i just had to do a take-off.... hehe http://brycetopia.com/images/space/Z.JPG looks like some touchup too- maybe photoshop? i dunno... looks brycean to me! ; ) Gecko
Thread: Cessna WIP- take 2 (let's try this again ; ) | Forum: Bryce
Thanks everyone for commenting... spooky 3d gfx: i took a postive cylinder- rotated 90 degrees and stretched to the width of the wing (this at least resembles if not forms the curved aerodynamic shape of a wing). i then (i think!) duplicated the cylinder and converted it to a sphere, which i set to intersect. i then rescaled and grouped; hence the curved front edge. i'm not quite sure what i did next (minor memory blank ; ), but it probably had something to do with negative cubes (for the back slopes). hope this helps and i'd love to see the picture!!! oh- just a minor nitpick- the cone on the rear of the fuselage should have a propeller as well- and there should only be 2 blades ; )
