Thread: Need help reinstalling Daz 3d | Forum: DAZ|Studio
to be honest though there are a lot of daz products that will not work with that sort of spec (the recent samurai for instance, AM's lion cub with either dforce or lmah hair will keel over a 24 gig system). On 24 gig I am finding Daz to be getting more and more flakey to use. It isnt helped by the way windows 10 instakills high memory use apps so if you havent upgraded to win 10 I would maybe hold off
Thread: What's Happening at DAZ? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
To be honest I wouldnt be surprised if Daz is being bitten by its own decisions. Yes a centrally managed system doling out files a la Daz Central would cut down on copyright protection problems but it is doing it in the most expensive way possible to imagine. Even an Amazon server farm makes me wait minutes just to get up a favourites list of a couple of hundred items. A central index for thousands of multigigabit daz directories of users is just using so much server processor/ network packet / switch time that I would guess the Daz Central versus the store are fighting each other for resources
Thread: How to install Renderosity purchase in DAZ3D? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
the one thing I change with Daz installs that try to default to a user/documents/my library location is because this will install on the C: drive and with an ssd this can be problematic so I always move everything over to a different disk

apologies for misleading about the DB texture set - it is the Dark Beauty Merchant Resource for Genesis 3 Female off Daz
Thread: Can anybody make Nazi uniforms for Genesis 8? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Tannenbaums uniforms are the main reason why one should keep V4 and M4 figures in a daz inventory. Although making the necessary changes to metallic or gloss channels in daz can be a drag, the main problem once you have that done is that these figures will make most other daz war assets look low res and poorly textured : )

my favourites for hair are just about every Linday dforce capable (Side Layered Messy, Classic long, Bang Bob, Classic long curly). Using the G8 to G3 hair converter being able to use these with dforce on V7 s now is great
for textures Blue Jaunte has several Morph/Texture packages Sahel HD is probably the one Id really recommend. For pale skins the other texture makers who impress are Second Circle and Brahann.
I dont know the reason why creators do this but some skins you find out if you look at the value, red green and blue channels that the curves have basically been compressed into a thin band. Maybe iray is meant to work best with this part of the curve but they can look flat - the other possible reason might be that altering tone, curves or contrast quickly turns into a useless mess so people are less likely to modify the textures.
For darker skins Uchenna is good, or V7 Makeda by Samsil. There is also a renderosity product - a dark skin merchant resource for V7 that I often use that had subdermal, SSS, Epidermal, normal and bump channel textures but other than each texture beginning with DB I cant remember the name

https://texturehaven.com/ seems to be similar and has some of the same textures up but also has them in png format though the files do get big
https://hdrihaven.com by the same people is good for hdris up to 16 k
Thread: Poser Has a New Base Figure!! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Im really in two minds about this. Blackhearted's images do look good but for me the problem is not so much the corneas (though there is a weird curving off shape above the eye in a couple of the product renders). The mouth area in many of the renders is the elephant in the room. The default mouth shape just doesnt look realistic. Im not saying that the face cant look realistic if you work on more morphs, but you have to work against the basic nature of the figure
Thread: Is Daz offline for anyone else? | Forum: DAZ|Studio
dont think it is Daz related now - getting the same ssl error on googlemail as well now and with both Firefox and Chrome. Something in Kaspersky AV is blocking the sites because of ssl certificate errors

Thread: Daz version 4.10.0.123 and local installs | Forum: DAZ|Studio
as the laptop has a small ssd the program was in c>programs and all content was in an external drive. Id pointed daz to that content folder, and restarted daz a few times after entering the serials but where in the past you could see the thumbnails of dufs in nested daz content folders with the new daz studio pro there were no thumbnails and none of the content would load. In the end I took the daz studio program folder from the older laptop and had it overwrite the contents of the newer install
