But look: Math_Functions_9 is directly connected to
the displacement. M_F_9 is smooth, the preview and the
final render are not.
M_F_11 (not shown here) can change the phase of the sin.
But this tip remains always, no matter which value I enter
there.

minimum displacement bounds
??? Never heared of that. Where do I find them?
But if you divide by 0 the result is
infinite, anyway.
By the way, you can download this thing and play
around with it yourself now:

Well, it is not. But I did try a divide by zero on purpose
and Poser did not crash!
The wave-shader represents the following formula:
sin(40 * r) / sqr(r+1)
r (the radius) is the value of Math_Function_5.
It goes from 0 to 1. So, r+1 goes from 1 to 2.
But, as mentioned above, even without that shift
Poser doesn't crash, but renders the above picture.
The hole in the center is really a result of a div by 0.

Sure.
I also added another node Math_Functions_11 to
change the phase of the sin. Just enter something
in value_2
By the way, the renderer seems to have an error.
In the middle of the plane there is always this little
tip, no matter how the phase is.
Do you think I should report this to CuriousLabs?

Hello d-larsen,
this is also my experience, that Poser can behave very
odd from time to time when it comes to complicated
modelling. Or even sometimes with simple modelling.
I still have a character whose hair goes away sometimes.
In this case if I render it, is goes
back into the correct position.
Anyway, I'd say one should make security copies of every
step, like saving it as pinhead01, pinhead02 and so on,
and keep all theses steps for several days until you can
be sure that the last and final stage always works
correctly (posing, rendering, morphs ...)
And additionally, it could be a good idea to do
complicated modelling with some external software.
As far as I remember, this takes the following steps:
save the raw character somewhere in your library,
let's say as pinhead_raw01.
Then you export it as obj, import it
somwhere else, make all the changes and export it again
as obj.
If there weren't too many changes (like global scaling,
rotation, removing body parts) you can use the new geometry
with the old "skeleton" to get the complete figure:
locate the pinhead_raw01.cr2 file, open it with
wordpad and search for the references to the geometry
(there are 2 and they look like
figureResFile :Runtime:Geometries:ZygotePeople:blMilWom.obj
) Change the path to your new geometry and hope that
this worked ;-)
If not, import the new geometry into Poser and see how
it looks like. Maybe you must scale it or something.
Good luck,
Ernst
Thread: Poser5 modeling and joint help | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hello Kipper, for question #1, sorry, no idea. I have tried something similar myself, but I came to the conclusion that I have to use an exteral modeller and re-adjust the joint parameters later on again. For #2: you can do this within Poser by using magnets. The trick is to create a group which inculdes only the theeth (or the parts of the teeth you want to change). If you then add a magnet to the head, you can select the newly created group so that the magnet only works on the teeth. Also, the magnet zone can be deformed in various ways like scaling it in x-, y- and z-directions independently. So, you can deform it to make a better fit to the teeth. Additionally, you can edit the falloff of the magnet zone. Ernst

there is a button called "select Subset" Really! I have never noticed this button before, but now that you mention it ... Thanks alot, ernyoka1
Thread: Where are the handles? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Yes. I placed the dials over the palette on purpose to
show the effect. What I wanted to know is wether there is
a way to get the handle back.
Because then it would be a lot easier to use more of the space of the screen.

Thank you so far. But until I know what I am going to to, the request for bid continues. (I think it would be nice to have Victoria enhanced that way rather than buying me Poser-5 ;-) Ernst Hammann
