i've already done this two things. Unfortunately things don't changes so much. Reducing the tile size increase enough render times and you save only few frames from crash.

yes, i'm using image sequence. Right now i'm using segments, but it's a shame that i need to stay always next to my Mac, it would be nice to launch my render at night. Modo have no problem with large amount of fur, but as discussed the other day it don't have audio scrubbing that is very important in this case because it's a music video. Maybe i can try to export the entire animation inside modo...

Yes, 401 it's a piece of art, very stable and solid. I haven't tried C4D 11, but i'm sure that is a serious software. I'll try it for sure.

Update is a critical thing for me now, i've bought enough softwares this year... Now i use modo for 90% of my work, but sometimes Carrara it's still the right application for me.

I've splitted the file with Amadeus and the files work perfectly in carrara, but placing them correctly it's a real challenge. Another bug!

the ridiculous thing is that i have another problem with Lightwave 9.6, importing a file audio crash the app! Modo don't have support for audio scrubbing, so i'm a pro, i've bought pro apps and know i need to find "temporary solutions"! AAAARGH!

BTW i'll try with QT Pro, but the real problem is that carrara import the sounds randomly so i'm not sure if i create 5 segments of 1 minute if carrara will import them correctly. I've tried to import a 1 minute song and the resulting file is 3 seconds.

Hi Mark,

the length of the clip (a song) is 5:21 minutes and the file is ok, but when imported in carrara it is only 1 minute. The trouble appear on every new file (also a blank scene), so if you want to test create a new file and import a wave or aiff file in C6 pro.

this is a simple test, you need to UV the torus and usa a simple movie in the alpha channel.

I've Uvmapped the torus with modo because it's too simple, but you can use also Carrara.

Remember that with the bend modifier you can change the value beyond slider so maybe you can reach a full ring using a value of 360.

i feel the same exactly as you. Years ago there are more pioneers and dreamers in the 3D industry, Metacreations was one of the best, now all the products they have sold to others (including Carrara, especially now at DAZ) are not softwares with that spirit. Regarding me i really admire software (and people behind them) like Modo, 3D Coat, Zbrush, Moi and a few others. Maybe i'll buy C7, but for sentimental reasons above all because Carrara was my first approach to 3d and when i open it i feel at home:-)
