Thread: Can't deselect polygons | Forum: Carrara
Quote - Strange. If I shift-click on a selected polygon, it deselects, but if I shift-click on an un-selected one, it adds it to selection. 8.5 Pro build 243
You are absolutely right. I don't know if I was thinking of a prior version of Carrara, or some other program, but it seems shift was to add and ctrl was to delete. Since shift does both, I can deselect again.
Thanks.

Well, shift + click selects (adds) polygons, not deselects. That's how it works for me.

Thread: So what happened to Dawn's fire ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Dawn was a good lesson for content creators. Those who chased the "ultimate figure" were disappointed and have, one by one, returned to developing for a more mainstream model. At this point it is a relatively minor annoyance to verify that an item is not "for dawn" prior to purchasing. Neither fish, nor fowl, she has extremely limited potential ... regardless of her pedigree.
If one designs and manufactures accessories exclusively for Trabants or Wartburgs, one should not be surprised that the market is rather limited.

After 8 is unavailable. As is "After 12" it appears. I have these, and they are exactly what the OP wanted. No idea why they were pulled, perhaps didn't sell.

Thread: Thoughts of a departed Moderator | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In my humble opinion, a great deal of the issues come down to simple laziness. Someone reads a post that infuriates them for whatever reason and, rather than take the time to formulate a cogent counter argument, simply shoots a dagger at the offending writer. It's quick and feels good for a few seconds, but doesn't really add to the overall discussion.
Still fun though!
I feel bad for trolls. They used to be real characters, hanging out under bridges and haranguing passers-by. Now their name has morphed into a mere description of unruly, intemperate writers. How sad ...

For your information, I hold the UK patent for the arse-a-phone and I intend to defend it vigourously! Expect to hear from my solicitors in short order.

I must agree, this comment is devoid of information and smacks of borderline trollism. It is the on-line equivalent of a shaking finger aimed a the OP's face. Others were perfectly willing to help, but that seems to be a source of annoyance. While asking for help is a shortcut, and apparently seems lazy to some, the OP is correct that without such questions this forum would be as dead as a dozen others.

Yes, after I posted. Apparently because I can't read and comprehend at the same time.
Remember, I'll buy you a boubon the next time you're in Denver.
Mark:
Could be a while - my entire Denver team defected to a competitor and I closed our office in the DTC. If I do get there (spending more time in FL and AZ these days) I'll give you an advance heads up. Would love to collect that Bourbon.

Thanks everyone. I got some good tips over at DZ forum. This model (bar lounge) uses bones throughout (god knows why for four walls, a ceiling, floor and some lights). This somehow ties the objects together and seems to confuse this light function. I am going to play around some more, but for the time being I just used a spot light with 90 degree angle placed at the bottom of the light fixture to get the effect I wanted.
Someone suggested I just need to uncheck casts shadow for the light fixture object, will try that just out of curiousity.

Quote - Regarding HDRI:
Make the HDRI lighting work in indoor scenes that have no windows (Like Poser and, I believe, Lightwave).
HDRI shouldn't be implemented as a background image but as a light type whose properties are supplied by an hdri image. In the case of a spherical hdri map, each point of the sphere is a distant light **composed of only one ray **that is perpendicular to the sphere at that point and has all the behaviors of a distant light except it doesn't cast shadows.
This would be my number one request. I would lilke to use HDRI inside without removing the roof and/or walls.
