Just came back to say I finally got it all working.
The real hard part was getting the Jessi Improved installed, that was important because I have everything that goes with that, and I don't need to buy anything to have everything.
The install files were on a Website that has closed, and after looking for the file everywhere I couldn't find anything existing anyplace.
The existing one that I had wouldn't' install.
I finally placed the parts that I had by hand in the Jessi folder but no luck. The only thing that came up was Unable to find the such and such a file. So I wrote the file names down and started looking for them. I found an old Runtime on another hard drive that was from Poser 11.
I had previously tried to import it into Poser 13 but it wouldn't work. But when I started looking for the individual files I located them not in the locations that had anything too do with Jessi but in other characters, so using my stand alone search engine I found them on the other drive.
I copied the from there to the same location in the Poser 13 locations.
I finally got it to start loading minus the chest and hip, but I figured I could get it from where I was and finally just took all the files that I had found and copied and placed the whole thing in the same folder and and the whole body appeared and everything works. What a relief!
I've tried using the other figures but with all the morphs that Jessi Improved has I can make he look like anyone, any Race, Build, Color etc. I do my own textures and so there is no limit and the textures are all in only two maps. One for the head and one for the body. I put them together into one sheet so when I work in Photoshop I can change overall colors Intensity contrast etc. at the same time, and then separate them into the head and body when it's done.
It's going to be great getting back to the way I use to work.
Thanks for the help everyone.
Mike
If you shoot a mime, do you need a silencer?
Thread: I've been away for a while, need help!!! | Forum: Poser Beginners Hub
I found that because I use a 34" UHD monitor I have to change the resolution of the interface in Poser the first thing I do when I install poser, or the type is too small to read.
As a result the line of options above the library wasn't all visible when I did the first install and the message about installing the content wasn't visible on the screen without moving it over.
I finally removed all the stuff including the multiple Runtimes. It's all reinstalled and running correctly now.
The only thing I have left to do is the individual items. I think I have what I need but not in .zip format.
I have a folder called Jessi improved with Cr2 files etc. I'm pretty sure that it, and I have an other folder that is zipped the had Jessi head morphs that is .zipped.
I'll read you link above and then I'll take time to make sure that I do it right later today. Just copying the folder that has the title Runtime on it is the way I member doing it in the past if I placed it in the Poser folder above the Runtime folder it worked.

Sorry I did mean Runtime not Registry!
If I had a runtime folder I used to just add it to the Poser folder and it would place the files in it the Runtime in Poser in the correct places as I remember.
Or I could just add it to the Library as an additional Library in the Library.
For some reason nothing seem to get loaded during the install, I've never had that happen, it always gave me the opportunity to go through the downloaded content and install it category by category.
I finally got it working by finding the Runtime folder and just adding it to Poser in the program as a new Library and most things started working normally.
The problem started when I tried adding some of my old content. Notable Jessi improved.
I couldn't find the Runtime entry, I've actually have used Poser since version 3 but as I said I'm getting on to 87 years old and my memory isn't what it used to be.
What I need is a guide to adding new content?
I still have a few issues but for the most part everything is working.
I should have said that most of what I did was short animated films, if I can find one I'll post it on here.
I'm going to watch the tutorial that KageRyu posted now.

Thanks, for the help information.
I had some other issues as well, for one I have used Jessi Improved for many years, It's the most complete and realistic character for me! there are enough mods to create character that really look like I want.
Well I couldn't find it any more, I thought I had a copy of it but I couldn't find it.
I tried putting it in from files I found but was unable to get to work. After hours of looking for it online I finally gave up and then I thought of digging up one of my old characters. I loaded it into the new version of Poser and low and behold that old figure was fully functional.
All I had to do was load it, set it to zero then give it a name and add it to the library and I had a completely working complete copy of Better Jessie right there and ready to go.
Some how I had probably put the files in to the Registry while messing around with it but it didn't show up in the Library until I loaded the the character and put it in myself.
They really should put it in the new Poser themselves it's by far the most complete character you can get without buying a lot of mods. And I find it a lot easier to pose than most of the other characters.
Of course I'm used to it and have used it since about Poser 6, I'm no sure who created all the many dozens of mods to start with?
Anyone know who did all the work to start with?

Thanks, that was it there were no lights turned on It was so simple and I spent hours on this. I'll plead the fact that I'm 86 now...
I've been away for a while but I've worked with Poser for years! And I never thought of that!
Thanks again

I'll try that, I'm not sure if everything is loaded in the Runtime, can you tell me how big your Runtime is?
Mine is 705 Megabytes! That seem kind of small to me but I don't really remember.

Thread: How do you make a movie in Poser 13? | Forum: Poser 13
Thanks for the information, I kind of figured that out when I finally made a short test video.
So far, it does seem to run faster and do some things better than the earlier versions. It seems to me that it handles shadows better in Preview mode, which is a big factor for me because I never render anything that is going to be video. I usually had to turn them off, but they seem to look pretty good on the few things I've done.
I figured out a long time ago that rendering things in preview mode at high resolutions is much faster than actually running them through a render engine.
Once they are reduced to the size you want or in my case I leave them at 3440 by 1440, so they are full screen on my monitor, they look nearly as good and in a fraction of the time.
Now it's time to do a test with speech and run it through my editor and see how it goes.

That worked, funny thing though, it still said that it was writing .png files in the progress window while it was doing it. The other thing was that all the .png files that I created earlier would not let my batch delete them. I started doing them one at a time, but I finally got tired of it, I removed the other files that I had in the folder and then deleted the folder.
I don't know why I couldn't bath select them, but they weren't protected from being deleted. Weird. I've been doing animated stuff with Poser for years, but every new version adds something strange.
I still wish they would restore the old easy option for adding textures and colors to the figures and props.
I opened an untextured dog model in the Material Room, and I read everything I still couldn't figure out how to apply the texture to it, it said that I should drag the texture from the library, but I wasn't able to get anything to drag to the frame on the right side of the window from anyplace. All the props were clearly listed on the left side, but I couldn't get them applied to the dialog on the right side. Why can't I just click All and have a button to apply them?
Well, I can't get my spell checker to admit that "untextured" is a word either.

Thread: Windows 11 anyone? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi
I upgraded my laptop a week ago, and my PC yesterday.
I like it, it's faster, and easier to get around in, I like the new look it's more user-friendly and everything is easier to read.
I've had no problems other than some trouble finding a few things that have moved.
If you are going to upgrade, I still recommend making a Disk Image of your C:\ drive first, but I've had no problems at all.
It's kind of a breath of fresh air, after all this time with Windows 10. This is the first version of Windows that I did not beta test since I started with Windows 7.
And the first one I really am happy with since Windows 7. The upgrade process was painless after making some changes in the bios to make my gaming computer, compatible.
Normally I would do a clean install, but it went so well on my laptop I decided to save all the time reinstalling everything, and I'm glad I did.

Thanks, I'll go through this with Poser open and figure it out.

Thanks, I've got it set up, and I'll do as suggested and save a backup of my load profile so that I can get to it easy if I need to. I didn't even think of using my Poser 11 start page, which I still have installed along with 12.
I'm 83, my memory isn't what it used to be. I've been using Poser off and on since version 3 which I picked up at Best Buy just out of curiosity.
I used it to make and save little characters of people that I could add to architectural illustrations and restaurant interiors, it saved a lot of time. Now I just use it to do experimental animation, for the most part, since I retired nearly 20 years ago.
I now have a 34" UHD monitor, the only problem with it is that you can't get one that supports 3D stereo. I was really into making stereo videos, and I can't do that anymore. I suppose I could do it if I got a VR headset. I'll have to look into that. I figured out how to do really effective stereo movies in Poser or from video games.
I could only show it to people on my computer because no one had the equipment to view them, so I moved on to high definition.
Thanks again for the help, Poser 12 is kind of like starting over because I had my own way of doing things, and they don't work with 12! I especially miss the Simple Texture feature. I don't know why they removed that, it saved a lot of time.

Thanks, it's been kind of a pain having to delete them on at a time. I had to do 23 of them yesterday.

Thanks again, that worked, it now opens with a blank screen. Like I said, I go through this every time I install since I got poser 11, and now 12. Much better!!!

Thanks, I know how to set it up once I get rid of it. But getting rid of it is a pain.

I want the ground plane flat with no Grid or the up sweep in the back, just the plain flat ground pane that you can make the color you want. What I see is like a photographers' studio with a grid pattern on it, that's what I'm trying to get rid of, I should have gone into more detail to start with. Poser always starts out like this in the newer versions and I can never remember how you get rid of it, I think you turn it off someplace, but I can't remember how, and I can't find it.
