Firstly, it does'nt have to cost an arm and a leg to set up your own website. There are hundreds of deals out there for hosting that offer a great service for little money. But I can recommend Servage.net as one of the best we ever came accross. And trust me when I tell you we've tried a hell of a lot, lol. Although we have our own dedicated server these days we still host sites with Servage for some of our clients who want to webmaster their own sites. If you don't want a dedicated merchant account for credit card payments then PayPal will cost you zilch to set up. OK their commission rates aren't the most competitive but their good enough to get you started and their a lot less than the 50% you pay Rendo. If you want a cheap but effective and secure digital delivery system then may I recommend a program called SmartDD. This software will auto respond your customers with information and download links. It will also create a client inventory database that will keep track of all your sales and customers.
When it comes to site promotion then I suggest you do what Dana (Jaguarwoman) and Lucie amongst others are doing which is include links to your site in any forum posts you make. Also send a thank you e-mail after every sale and include a site link in it and use a site dedicated e-mail address such as yourname@chaosoutlaw.com. Just say if you have any problems then please contact me through my "web site" or "e-mail". If you have returning customers then surely you would prefer them to buy direct rather than through Rendo. You can keep your Rendo listings running and hopefully wean loyal customers over to your web site. Give a freeby away  to anyone you signs up to your web site newsletter. You may be suprised how many people would sign up for 10 free poses.
I could go on and on but hopefully the above may lay to rest some of your missgivings and make it worth the time to take a look at the possibilities. It ain't going to happen over night but for some cutting loose can be the making of them.

Maybe after I have established myself yes. And I do know how to set up my personal website, I have a premium 250Free site. Working on setting it up now. But you have to pay to have PayPal or the credit card companies make your site able to accept payment. You also have to maintain that site, something I am not experienced in and with all the learning on my plate I have no wish to start another learning curve at this time. This may come in the future but right now it is not financially feasible to do. As stated before I am just starting out.. You made some good points but its not as easy as you are stating it. I would actually have to raise prices. I believe it is around $150 a month to have credit card access on your site I am not sure about PayPal. Some months I dont make that.  And just putting link in your forum posts isn't great advertising. I have looked into this a little cuz I feel that both DAZ and RMP really undercut the vendors. When I have made a name for myself with loyal customers and alot more steady income this might happen.

As for JaguarBroad (figured since she twisted my name and tried to insinuate I am a thief or something I would return the favor) I am glad you are doing something with your stuff, I wasn't talking to you though. And the name is ChaosOutlaw, I am not a bandit, I have never stolen anything in my life other than a few womens hearts. Don't know why you chose to insult me when I was neither insulting or crude in my post. Whatever.

Some of us have a very small target audience with the items we produce. We would spend more than we make trying to set up our own website and store with credit card and/or paypal access. Plus advertising isnt free either. DAZ, as much as it chokes me to say something nice about them lol, at least will let you link to your products on other sites in their forums. Rendo wont, 3DC wont. RDNA wont. Plus alot of these vendors were with these sites for years before they went out on their own. You have to have time to build a reputation for yourself.

So what choice does the starting out vendor have but to use these sites to broker our products? I would love to sell all my products at 3DC where they offer 70% commission but I dont get many sales there. I do think RMP should give more to the vendors but I dont control them. To be honest I dont buy a whole lot of items from RMP mainly because if you do get a crappy item, it is next to impossible to return it for a refund. I sell here because they have large target audience and my products sell. I just started being a vendor earlier this year and I feel the prices I ask for my packages are reasonable. I am into pose packages right now and none have less than 130 poses in each one. I sell them for $12 bucks. I feel that is fair, especially when I see a lot of other pose sets where you get 30-40 poses, some even less, and they are charging $10.

You make some valid points but at the same time it seems to me your acting like we can wave a magic wand, a personal site appears, we sell for cheaper and get all the profit. Doesn't work that way bud.

Thanks for the input guys but I am looking for a replica lol. I have several katana props but need/want the Highlander one. Looks very similar to the image that Acadia linked to. I would have sworn that I saw one on a free site a few years back but cannot seem to locate it now. It was with a bunch of other movie sword replicas, such as the Conan Sword and the Lord of the Rings ones. Oh well Ill keep surfing. Thanks again for the replies.

Um...in the mean time, if you need some sort of EQ fix, the most I have right now are some woodie & dark elf textures for Mayadoll (on my site and here in freebies), and a DE set for Aiko on my forums. Am also getting a newbie pack going for DE Hiro as well. You would have to sign up for the Aiko set....she's a special download for members only. But it's free to join....and you'll have a better chance of reminding me of impending Iskar goodness there too. (I don't always remember to visit Rosity every day)

Got a personal email from one of the few friends I still have in this community and had to come back on here to clarify one more thing then I will not bothering with this post as I have already turned off the email me function. I know that the comment I made in DAZ about the illegal warez was wrong. If I could that back, and a few other things then I would. I was drunk on rage and spouting off to get attention because DAZ was ignoring me. I dont know how many times I can apologize but I have done so. I wont apologize anymore. I do use usenet, I am part of a group of "programmers" that seek out and try to destroy child pornography web sites and see that the people out there distributing it go to prison where they belong. Im proud to say that after four years of doing this we have stopped the flow of most of the new hardcore stuff from being posted. Thats why I know whats on there and said that. It was an attempt to get some attention that backfired on me what more can I say that I havent already said about it. As for this post, I will write here what I wrote at the others. It has done exactly what I intended it to do. That is bring my problems to the attention of the whole poser community and allowed me to view their reactions and comments. I have learned more here today about this community than ever before. So I am happy with the results I got and thats why I did it. I also made quite a few enemies today. That doesnt really bother me. I will master poser with or without your help. I never let anything beat me although at times I do lose my mind and act irrationally. Im only human. The mistake I think I made is that focused too much on badmouthing DAZ and not enough on the problems I was having and that soured alot of folks towards me. Im learning I will try not to make so many mistakes in the future. As for what I said to the guy being rude you are right I was wrong and I was acting like a bully. That I will apologize for. But thats who I am, in real life if you run your mouth to me without cause just to be ignorant then expect me to retaliate with violence. Im not trying to intimidate anyone with what I just said I am just trying to let you know how I am. Now I know by saying this Im going to further alienate those that are already not happy with me and probably add to that list but I figure if I get it out in the open it wont happen again. I have not once today badmouthed anyone on any of the forums where I posted this unless they badmouthed me first. My attack was against DAZ the company not any one individual. In a public forum you have the right to disagree with my views and to post your views in kind. Im learning, seems like Im learning it all the hard way, but I am learning. Thanks Beryld. Good post. I have had no problems with P5 and items other than those at DAZ so I dont think its my program. Someone also sent me a private saying it might be my pc. Well Ive loaded Poser on my labtop and went to my fathers house and loaded it onto his pc and have the same problems so its the software not my hardware. And as to P5 you folks selling items and making it seem like there should be no problems using it with the versions of Poser from 4 up should have to put a big red flag on your products saying this has not been tested or is known to have problems in P5. And most of them do make it seem like you should have no problems using the products with P5. Funny thing is I have not had any problems with P5 and my pc other than those I purchased at DAZ. P5 is what got me into this in the first place. And its whats going to get a lot more new users into this in the future so P5 is here to stay and you guys have to realize that and begin to embrace it. God I hope this doesnt offend anyone offhand. Im scared to type anything cuz whatever I say gets misconstrued.

Wow. Lot of responses on this site. First off Im not going to repeat myself much I hope. Ive made my feelings pretty plain with this post. I would like to add some things though. Some of what these folks are saying is true. I was in a rage the other day when all this happened at the DAZ forums. This rage was not over 1 item or problem. It was also the culmination of 6 weeks worth of frustration with DAZ and my bad experience with them. Did I handle the situation very well. No I didnt. I let my emotions control me and said a whole lot of things I probably should have said better or not at all. I cant change that now. I will apologize for some of it. Especially to the people that I offended unintentionally. But I did try to resolve the matter the correct way with no success before the blow up happened. Some of you folks are right in that I did disregard what you were saying even though you were trying to help me. Let me tell you why. Because most of you were saying the same thing or this is how I saw it. DAZ is great, just relax, the problems are yours and noone elses be patient and they will help you. Well I was tired of hearing that because as Ive stated, for the several weeks prior to this explosion I had been just that, patient. I was tired of being patient. I tried doing things politely and got nowhere. Thus this happened. Is it my fault? Yes it is partly and I accept that. But the blame is not all mine. And from the posts here I can see Im finally also getting others who agree partly with why Im so angry and not just praising DAZ. These folks know there are problems with DAZ and arent afraid to admit them. I cant change what Ive done and now I guess Ill have to deal with that. So be it. Doesnt change the fact that my problems with DAZ are righteous. I really want to thank you folks for all your replies cuz I do read and absorb them when Im calm. I dont want to alienate this community completely so I hope those of you who understand where I am coming from will forgive me. Id like to just come on here and be happy but my experiences with DAZ so far have prevented that. Im having enough problems with the program itself. :o) PS there are so many posts here that I didnt read them all but I thought I saw something about telling folks not to buy products for poser. I never said that. Im saying that they should go elsewhere because DAZ is not the only game in town. Oh and I dont have a better internet connection because Im too lazy to get one its not a matter of finance. I would still order hard copies even if I had a better connection.
