Doesnt take much to modify the viruses to attack other systems.. But why bother? Doing it for Windows ensures fast and wide spreading due to the massive user and server base. Their goal is to see networks shut down, and they often get the results they desire. You could probably make the same type of virus for the MAC. But when they make up less than 1% of web servers, and support no major backbones or networks, who is going to care?
Thread: Help!! Poser does not respond to Renders if I have more than 6 figures ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just a bit of FYI.. It doesnt matter how much RAM your video card has. It doesnt get touched in any part of the rendering.

Yes, I had the same problem in not only poser but anything I tried to scroll (IE, OE, Photoshop, Etc). I never did pinpoint exactly what was triggering it (but if memory serves it would happen after watching streaming video) but it would start suddenly and not stop until I rebooted. I have yet to experience the problem since I installed the latest Nvidia reference drivers.

I am currently running a 1.2 and 512MB. Everything, including Poser, runs great. A 1Ghz will also run everything pretty damn fast, but since the price gap between Athlons is so small there isnt really much savings for you if you drop speed. BTW, it is Athlon, not Athalon.

Thread: HELP!!! What the heck happened? Anybody seen THIS before.. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
It is a video card (driver) problem, not a poser problem. I have never had it happen to me in Poser yet but get the same thing on occasion while surfing the net, reading email, etc. I havent pinpointed exactly what is triggering it yet, but a reboot makes it go away.

Man, I just love this assesment on the ease of todays programs: "In a way, that can harm digital art." Easy programs harm digital art? Is that even possible? If it is, then digital art harms art to begin with. I can open Photoshop and create a nice image in an hour that would take me a week to paint by hand. :) I think what he really meant to say is "In a way, that can harm my bank account."
Thread: Hardware effect on Poser performance... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
You can do all of those and more using Direct3D or OpenGL, but using a software renderer is the safe and dependable way to go. Hardware accelerated preview/posing mode would be great tough. Especially if they also support the HW T&L engines of current cards.
Thread: Serious bug in Poser "renders" it almost unusable... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I agree with soul, it has to be a bug. I have 256MB RAM and my system is optimized to give me maximum free RAM (instead of Windows using it all up for BS). I also have plenty of swap/page space. This problem seems to have no rhyme or reason to it. Sometimes if I open Poser off a fresh boot, load Vic2 with high res maps and bumps and the program will lock up on rendering. Other times I do the same thing and it works like a champ. I know it isnt specifically a memory problem because I can be using Photoshop, Usenet, and surfing web then have no problems loading up Poser and rendering the same large images while those other apps are open.

Cool program man but I am having a little bit of a problem with page faults in nvopengl. Anyone else with an Nvidia based card (mines a GeForce2, but they all share the same drivers) having any trouble? Im currently using the 6.50 drivers from Nvidia. I see they have now "officially" released the 12.x series drivers so ill give them a try and let you know.

Thread: Information on PC ONLY entries | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
"PC/MAC only" would only really apply when there is an actual executable. PCs cant run MAC files and vise versa (without the use of emulators/converters of course). As far as archives go, both systems can open either .sit or .zip. Some people might think it has to be .zip for PC or .sit for MAC and select it on their upload according to that idea.
Thread: Well.. No Vic2 for me this weekend. Damn. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The .sit wasnt the problem. I was already able to extract the file within the archive. The problem was the actual file. DAZ uses a setup interface to install their models. The setup file was compiled for use on a MAC, so it would not run on the PC. Fortunately they have a great support section over at DAZ. They sent me a new link this evening so I could download the Windows .exe.
