I use Crashplan, a cloud based (or local too if you want} real time backup service- it works GREAT!. Losing data is the least of my worries. :)

Thanks for replying! That was the answer I wanted to hear.

Simple answer: Yes
Ah! So I was making things more difficult than I had to. Thank you SO much!!

Easiest way is, you install your Poser content into Poser Runtimes and DAZ-Studio Content to a Studio Folder. If you need an Poser item in Studio, so add the runtime to Studio and for Studio items you add My Library to your external Poser Runtimes, you need the DSON Importer.
So Jules, it's okay to mingle the new Genesis stuff with the older Studio 3 things?
Thread: Dyson Question | Forum: New Poser Users Help
:) I don't know why this confuses me so much.
I have Windows. I have a Runtime for Poser named 'PZRntm- all Poser goes here.
I'm going to create a Runtime also for all (?) DAZ named 'DS4.' So are you suggesting Paolo that I put all DAZ Studio files & Poser DSon files (even the Poser files) in here together and ignore the duplicates there will be?

Richard-
"...and optionally (if you download the thumbnails for DIM) the OverrideThumbnailDir..."
I don't know what they are?? Googling is no help. The manifest one I understand.
Thanks

Ah!
I don't know how I missed that, the manifest part; it's so intuitive. :P
Thank you Richard!

Crud. Swing-and-a-miss!
DIM now shows that I have '0" items insatalled, and there is no Smart Content anymore.
I moved everything back to how it was, and it's still broken. Must be like Poser. I specified that IT install the Download Manager to 'D', but it insists on C: > Users. I argued with customer support but when I gave up, it was left with me not knowing what a path is. :)
Well...I guess I'll uninstall everything and try again. In hind site, I wish I would've went with the 500GB SSD since I'm finding out that even IF you're given a choice of where to install things, they might not end up there.

All the Applications, Download and installation paths are correct- no C:
That's what I was thinking too. I was looking for an answer like that! We'll either both be right, or wrong.
Thanx!

Thanks everyone for the excellent input! I think I have enough info now to start building it & screw things up. :)

Last (?) Questions. I realize you can build multiple runtimes anyway you want basically, but I want to make sure I start out right, and not 4 months later think, "gee I wish I would've done that differently. So:
  1) Do most of you create a Runtime with subcategories to keep it neat, or do you just make everything a separate Runtime?
    Example: Runtime/Creatures/Character/Vampires                     Runtime | Creatures:Vampires
            Runtime/Creatures/Character/Werewolves                   Runtime | Creatures:Werewolves
            Runtime/Creatures/Character/Zombies                      Runtime/Creatures | Zombies  Â
(same Runtime W/Subcategories)                              (All separate Runtimes)
If I make a Runtime named 'Generation 4' for the various DAZ bases & their Morphs, what do I do with 2nd party designers, like P3D, or Seven, who like to make their     character FBM's out of a combination of Morphs++, Aiko Morphs, and some times even S4 Morphs? Do I either put a subcategory of 'People' in my Generation 4         Runtime, so it can pickup all needed Morphs, or is their a way to make a separate Runtime named 'People, without duplicating the various DAZ Morphs? Guessing not.
Same basic question as above for a 'Creature' Runtime. I can put Creature Creator Morphs in there, but sometimes. depending on what the creature is, it isn't it's own     CR2, it';s V4 or M4 with Morphs++. Same deal- either put it in with Generation 4 Runtime, or duplicate Morphs++ in this Runtime?
Again, I know I can do either, but how do most handle this situation?
Thank you

I use CrashPlan (too?) to backup to the cloud. It's a good feeling knowing that you don't have to worry about a drives's failure, theft, or natural disaster.

Oh. I didn't even think of that. I bet everything back over at DAZ is a Zip now- just re-download..
Thanks for that!
Thread: Is your monitor darker at the top ? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have a NVidea 750TI, and the color or brightness is uniform accross all of the screen area.I do though have a 'band' about 3 MM around all edges. It can't seem to be adjusted through the card's Control Panel, so I assume it's the monitor. I could fiddle with the monitors settings, however,as my Grandmother used to say, "don't sweat the petty stuff; pet the sweaty stuff." Your situation isn't petty however.

So now the last ignorant Question (I keep saying that).
Zips you can control where things go. Extract it on the desktop and move things over. What about installers (*.exe)? When I had just one Runtime, which was named MyContent > Runtime > Libraries, etc., I extracted the exe's to MyContent. With Multiple Runtimes, I'm assuming if you have a Runtime named:
Animals > Runtime > Libraries > Character > Domestic, you'd point the installer to Animals, and then move things inside Animals to the Domestic (if it was a Doggy; Razorback Boars would go to 'Wild, as they don't make good pets) folder??
But then again, assuming it's not a DAZ Morph file, you could extract the installer too, to a temp folder on the desktop, right?
