I got it. The exported OBJ or 3ds load directly into poser, no problems, just have to save the face map as JPEG or the head comes out purple. The eyes lack life but practice will remedy that. I've never been able to make realistic heads of real people before. Thanks you for your replies, I would not have taken this quite expensive step without your information.

Well, PP11 won't run, it says I've activated it too many time. I have not. I'm not going to fuss it with it anymore. I have versions 7, 8, PP2010, PP2012 and PP2014, as well as 11. I have spent enough on it. I Shall not upgrade or pay for any further versions of Poser. I can use PP2010 and 14 for anything I want to produce. Poser needs to be careful or it could sophisticate itself out of existence.

Thanks for the replies. The problem was that the email was sent to the address used by paypal, rather than the one I typed in when ordering at SM site. Set up and running now. TY.

I have decided to upgrade. The persuading factors were the render by BB (above), though I doubt I could ever reach that level of skill, and the positive opinions of pp11 expressed here.

I've read through all the replies, and I thank you for them. I did find BB's render impressive: I doubt I could reproduce the effects using other means, nonetheless the consensus seems to be 'no'. Given that, and that pp2011 would cost me GBP 199, I shall wait until pp2013 to upgrade.
I shall be posting in in freestuff under this name (My baptismall name) shortly.
