Hi,
I think I really suck at doing WoE's :)
Yes, tho not directly around the eye. Care to guess as to what type of bird?

Work and family are really kicking me in the rear this week. Sorry for the delay. I'll get the next WoE this afternoon, definitely!
Oh to be independantly wealthy.

I seriously need to get one of these. Cutting many strips of leather freehand is a royal pain in the behind.

Hmm, isn't this a tool to cut strips of leather? I forget the name of the tool tho.

Darn! I thought it was going to be tougher. :)
Yes, it's a geode. Me and the wife found a neat little place in Upstate New York while driving around looking for photo opportunities. It's called the "Natural Stone Bridge and Caves" located at http://www.stonebridgeandcaves.com/ . We had a couple geodes cut, and a couple popped.
Anyways, on to you, Martin.

Thanks for the welcome. I've actually lurked here for a long time, but I've not been very social. I'm trying to correct that, especially because there's such a great group of people here.
Not looking for the type of crystal/gem, but the name for the entire object (that contains the crystal, etc). I'll give a hint in a bit if noone gets close.

What I'm looking for here is the name of the entire object, not just "crystal" or the specific type(s) of crystal.
So, WOE?

PS: The only thing done to this was levels and shrunk. No cropping or anything like that was done.

I'm running out of guesses :)
I think pastels look like that as well? If not, I'm out of ideas.

Alot of the replies here will probably be personal opinion, of course. I would suggest maybe waiting and saving just a little bit more. I have a Digital Rebel XT and I've been nothing but happy with it. The kits (granted, the kit lens isn't the best, but it's not horrible either) you can find for around $600 if you look hard enough. The newest Digital Rebel is the XTi, but I think you'd be looking around $800 for the kit.
Of course, if you can save up a bit more I'd recommend buying a body (~$499 for the XT body) and then buying a decent lens (such as the Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM which I bought used for $199 and has been a great walk-around lens).
Of course, even tho I'm a Canon guy, the Nikons are nice as well, but I'm not really up to the pricing on them. It's probably similar.
