Heres an perfect image of ruins...Heres an perfect image of ruins...
Â
And a perfect example of my problem. With Stonemasons ruins, Lyher's excellent ruins I got from VP and Andi's models it's not to hard to do some ruin images. But if you notice almost all are done with a slight top down view and/or lack of detailed background. Notice the orangish area's?
That's where the postwork and extreme cobbeling together comes into play, which for an image here or there isn't to bad but if you want to do say a large series of images or a couple of comic books, your limited by your painting and postwork skills. I'll admit I'm looking for an easier way. ;)
Bar-Code: I'm smiling about the hint...
Angel_Natavi: You're not invisible to me. thanks for the links.
And Kathym, I know we're not the only ones who think this would be useful, in one of Stonemason's threads after his Urban Ruins product, there was quite a bit of discussion about more ruins being needed, but I'm sure it's a smaller niche than the regular city streets and space stations.

I have much of the stuff mrsparky mentioned, and Andi3D's stuff is decent but I would KILL for a well done modern/dystopia style ruins set. Doesn't matter if it's city blocks or individual buildings that I could manipulate.
Alot of the images I like to do are post-apocalypse or future war related and it's a real pain to find well done models that can be used to achieve the whole effect without a lot of postwork. For instance imagine a scene with a hero fighting a monster, in or near a the shattered/chopped off ruin of an office building, and mid-scene you'd have some taller ruined buildings, and further back that ruined skyline that you see in almost all end of the world movies.
Not to mention there is a lack of tall buildings for a flyby or high up scene, with shattered office buildings missing their top floors, or smashed walls exposing the jagged frame, blown out windows ect.
Someday though... someday. :)

Whisper sweet nothings in her ear, and then gently touch the breasts, that usually gets the nipples to appear for me.
Thread: Posable Anus for M3 and David | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Now I wouldn't say that Dave. Personally anytime anyone asks for a posable bunghole for any figure there should be an amazing amount of humor involved. It's just one of those subjects, serious or not, that automatically tickle the funny bone.
At least no one is screaming to high heavens about how terrible it is to be asking for such an item or what kind of questionable images will be made with it. Personally I'm thinking tonnes of GWB renders could be done with such an item. ;)

Ah I see, well no problems here Panko ;) I personally liked the M9 better. Heh. I likely use it for my 'Armageddon' renders, but the M7 will be nice for a historically acurate render, I envisioned when I saw this set.
My order is pending through Pay Pal, due to a mistake with using e-check rather than my debit so I'll have to wait a couple of days for it to process before getting my grubby mits on the set and those new ruins. I'm really impressed with the look and direction that items are taking over at VP.

Very very nice set, I'll be picking this up in the morning, Panko. I've been wanting a set like this since I first got into poser. As an ex-army G.I from 88-92 I've used all of this 'Nam era gear except the backpack and bed roll, while the new gear was phased into our units.
One minor nitpick; the M9 bayonet wasn't used during the Vietnam War. The M7 bayonet was, along with the M6. The M9 was developed in the early 80's and wasn't adopted by the US Military til the late 80's, I believe. My unit didn't even get them unti the Oct of 1990 during Desert Shield.
You can check http://www.army.mil/fact_files_site/bayonet/index.html for an image of the M7 and brief history of the bayonets in service, and http://www.m9bayonet.com/ for more detailed info on the M9's history.Â
Still, this is the coolest and most accurate set I've ever seen, not to mention the detail of having a sling strap on the M-16. That alone would prompt me to pick up the set ;)

Quote - Getting tired of it. Would still like to know how they got my email addy. They have no way to stop it on the mail they sent me.
'cause clicking reply and asking them not to send you another email would have to be defined as 'no way of stopping it'.
Of course I can understand your frustration; I too hate getting my email box bombarded with that singular email from them that just jams the thing up once each month or so. Gods it really pisses me off, it just makes me want to vent on a forum about all the effin spam!!!! OMFG That could be tweleve or so emails a year! WILL IT NEVER STOP?!!!

Always credit freestuff items used in your images. IMO it's the way to show appreciation to the author. As for MP items, well I'm likely to get flamed but it's a rare day that I credit them in an image. To me it's like buying a shirt with the designer's logo all over the front. I've already paid for the item, now I have to advertise it too? ;) The only time I do credit a purchased item is when it crosses that threshold of being just another purchase to something that was a joy to use. I'm sure a lot of folks see it differently and that is cool; but there is no rule that says you have to credit MP items when you post an image.

I care and I do read the read me files of items I buy before I buy them. But why would Rendo care about a link in the read me in the first place? Fear of competition? Heh, when the other guy is already selling here and supporting this store with his sales, that's a strange rational.
Thread: What is your opinion of the list? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Heh, so those models are 'teens' or 'kids' now? Hahaha. Okay I'll bite. Rendo's site, rendo's rules. We can live with it or leave. Sounds good when it's being yapped on a forum, wonder how it feels in practice? 90% of my '04 Poser dollars were spent at Renderosity. 90% of my '05 Poser dollars were spent at the 'other' sites. Great buisness model IMO. Good thing Rendo has that massive legacy behind it to keep pushing it forward. As for the real issue here, get with the program kids. Do you honestly think that a site will consider certain models 'teens' for store shots but not for gallery images? LOL. How naive do you have to be? I'll let you in on a not so secret, secret, it may not happen for a month or two or six, but that change is coming. You can bet your sweet pixels it is. And when it does the same folks will line up to tell us how great a change it is, how it's not a big deal, 'cause after all the store has been like that for a while now, and why would we want to do neekid pictures of those kid models anyway. :) Happy New Year!

I'm a LOST nutter. Have been since the first episode. I hadn't watched any TV show since Dark Angel was cancelled. And I just happened to take a break from the PC when it came on and the wife was watching it. I've been hooked since.

Thread: Ground Vehicle Construction Set appears at DAZ | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
The GVCS is a very sweet set that meshes with Davo's other sets very well. I've only had it since yesterday and I'm having a blast creating all kinds of new vehicles. About the dissapointments... 1: That is what the SFCS Equipment set is for. Davo said long before he began the GVCS that the Equipment set was modeled first to provide seats, displays and controls for all his other sets. PS it's on sale now. http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=2245&cat= 2: You're right here, the tracks provided don't look so hot for large tracked vehicles. Maybe we can get Davo to fix that with some sort of track model. 3: I guess you mean it's hard to guess the scale in relationship to other pieces in the set from the thumbnails. That's true, but since I generally modify the scale up or down on everything, documentation of that sort wouldn't be much help to me at least. Especially since I like loading up parts and saying to myself "Now what can this be used for?" while I twist and turn it around. Like you said flexibility is the main component of all Davo's construction sets. If you check out the FCVS show off thread at DAZ, you'll find dozens of inventive uses for each piece.
