Thread: Carrara 5 Pro stability | Forum: Carrara
oops my mistake : i meant Xsi Foundation in EUR 449 (not 499 !) otherwise my answer meant nothing :)) Otherwise regarding Iloco excellent words, i really feel like a sheep, but noone will get my skin... ba ba !!!
Thread: Carrara 5 Pro stability | Forum: Carrara
Well as far as i've seen, some 3D companies do the same, some others not ! I.e Xsi foundation is USD495 in the US, while it's EUR499. In the countrary, C4D is EUR699, but USD695 !!!
Maybe a way for some companies to enter easier the North American market when lowering the price in USD ?????

Sorry to say that, but if you want serious (professionnal) support on your product, buy something like Maya, and pay an extra annual fee of 1299$ for platinum support.... Otherwise welcome to the club :))

Thread: Carrara 5 release! | Forum: Carrara
I don't think that choosing something so hard to learn and to masterize like a 3D software should be only a matter of bucks ;) Carrara5 is cuurently under beta testing, but beta-tester are under a N.D.A. probably so they can't talk. I would say that if Carrara suits currently your main needs, then wait for the offical new version information ! Otherwise the public price of Lightwave has almost been divided by 2 by Newtek to be decreased down to 795USD (http://www.newtek.com/news/releases/08-01-05d.html), so it will be always time to made up your mind and to switch to LW if you want. Just my 2 cents :)

Anyway, this offer was not relevant for Carrara Users, as far as i've seen (Otherwise i would have take it !) !!! Seems that it's not considered as a major product...

Thread: Network Chain Render 4.1.1 | Forum: Carrara
Don't you have activated a firewall that could have blocked the port used by the network rendering engine ?
Thread: Curious about Carrara's claims about art done with Carrara | Forum: Carrara
Hi all,
Marcel's artwork is amazing but mainly made with Zbrush, where Carrara was used to render, as Carrara rendering engine supports millions of polygons for models, while being quite cheap regarding the competion.
However, it sounds to me also like a rip-off for the newbies, who could be fooled thinking that they can do the same artwork than Marcel with out-of-the-box Carrara's tools. Also don't forget that Marcel have first TALENT, then after the tools....
But lot of things in the gallery are also made with Amapi/Carrara, and a few images done with extra products don't discredit the software itself.
Also Eovia grab various artwork made with Carrara/Amapi for its internal use and promotion, but don't show them all (or can't)...
:)

Thread: C4 Memory allocation error and Rendering Failed | Forum: Carrara
Hi, I just received my CS4 pro copy and i've jumped into rendering of some "heavy" scenes that were fu*** up by CS3 because of that "memory allocation error". GOOD NEWS : this bug vanished in the air !!!! I can render the previous scenes i've never been able to before :-)
Thread: Rendering, not that fast....!! | Forum: Carrara
Hi, Light thru transparency can be really painfull to compute sometimes. If u try to use that feature with many CS3 trees, when you'll be stuck for hours to render them :-( BTW Did u check if the "no light when fully transparent" was check on your hair texture ? This might speed up the render ? Anyhow, using bump really slow down also the render...and that's probably reasons like that that made Eovia introduce the network rendering capability with CS4 pro... Anyway that's just my 2 cents ... :-) Pete
