Here is what I have at the moment:
: DAZ 3D > lots of things including Studio and Runtime (this one seems to be only DAZ origin content) : Inside Studio > More bits and My Library : Inside My Library > Most of the content and another Runtime : Inside that Runtime > All of the usual Poser folders – Geometries, Textures, Libraries etc.
So I have three Runtime folders and a whole lot of other stuff.
I was hoping that maybe I could sort this all into one folder.
Then there is all of the odd junk that has accumulated in these folders: for example, in the “My Library” folder is a “My Daz Connect Library”. Can I move it to the DAZ 3D folder?
Yes, I know that when I move things around I need to get DAZ to scan the directories and find everything again and I know how to change the directories it looks in.
I really want to sort all of this stuff into some sense of order and I am hoping that someone somewhere had a system or an app or a set of rules to follow so that I can clean this up and cut down on a lot of junk files and folders so my 760 GB content library can be trimmed down before I pile more into it.
I'm not optomistic about this, but I thought I would ask anyway. Guess I will have to manually go through everything and sort it by hand.
Glad to see this forum is active! Thanks for reading folks, and my question is still open . . . . .

Thanks Andy but that doesn't answer my question. I know where my Content Library is, it's geting new content into the folders that I want to improve.

Howy2012: I use a small app called dittoGUI that will put all your stuff in the right folders - I'm on a Mac too. there is a small fee for it. You still need to load one folder at a time (basically one unzipped downloaded item from Renderosity) but it's a lot better than having to copy ever single item one at a time. I recommend it. Also, I suggest putting all of your content on a seperate drive and (of course) backing up regularly.

So (RHaseltine) you are saying that it should work just the same as it did in DS 4.8? Note that I don't use Smart Content - only the Content Library where I have everythiing under "Categories". Okay, I will try again installing 4.9 over the weekend and see if it works now.

This is why I still use DS 4.8. I didn't know there was a tool that would put my Poser content into the Smart Content list (Thanks hborre!)
My problem is that when I tried 4.9 it would not let me create new directories my own way which is infuriating. There are always things that don't fit with the "official" system and I need the choice of moving things around for a variety of reasons.
Thread: Making Spherical Environments | Forum: Blender
Thanks but that's not what I was after. He uses an already made spherical HDR image. What I am after is to make a "virtual" spherical image mapped onto a sphere so i can pu it outside the view for a full background.

I have not tried transferring weight maps (does it work?) but I regularly move items in OBJ format between DAZ and Blender. If I want anything in parts e.g. doors, windows I export/import them seperately then position, parent and set the axes in DAZ.
Re the size issue I suggest you get a scale sample (I use a standing or sitting V4), import to Blender then scale other things to match that - then when you export the OBJ it will always be the right size in DAZ. When you export from DAZ use the "Blender" preset and in Blender export, set it up until things match up both ways, which may take a little trial and error. I always have to put the cursor on the centre (shift-C) then go to side view (numpad 3) in ortho (numpad5), select the imported object and rotate 90 to get it the right way up, then change whatever I want, then reverse the action (rotate X -90) before export to get things vertical in DAZ but maybe you can find a setting in the export that will fix that.
Thread: uvmap always bend | Forum: DAZ|Studio
Looks to me like you need a better UV mapping tool. I'm no expert on this but I use the one in Blender (its free) - the one in Blacksmith is supposed to be better as it can even up the edge distortion effects . . . . . but I haven't got it to work.
In Blender the UV mapping tool has several options which would give you a more correct result than that shown. Like most things it depends on how much time you want to spend on it.

Slight expansion: Okay, i accept no overlapping polygons. I remove all exactly overlapped vertices and therefore polyogons as a matter of course. This is different from Interpenetrating polygons though, right? In my example, the polygons of the glass pane go right through the door although they do not actually coincide with any of the verts . . . but I am still getting objects that refusse to appear. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks again.
