Thread: If you are into Realism in CGI... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - The only way one can tel it's not a photo, other then the WIP posts, is her toes. There's no weight on them, and the feet look a tiny bit floaty.
Amazing what can be done!I wonder if it would look that realistic if the author went for high quality photo look.
I thought the face looked rather flat, somehow, and that "times table" poster looks off to me... can't put my finger on it. Otherwise impressive.
*Edited to add for Cheers: I thought the scale was off because it looks like she's in a children's classroom, which is a subject for a whole other thread.
Thread: Do they sell Poser-like dummies in art stores? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Dick Blick art supplies website has them... I remember noticing them the last time I went to check on acrylics prices. I went "wow, posers" :D

Have fun.

Thread: Modo Forum? | Forum: Suggestion Box
I was just about to suggest the same thing :D
With Modo 301 version shipping soon, and the rockbottom sale for the 103 version on another vendor site (is it okay to say DAZ here? if not delete this comment, heh heh) meaning people will be getting 301 at a nice upgrade price, I think Modo is going to be huge this year. Especially with the recent animation and sculpting functionality added.
Thread: What was your favorite SuperBowl Commercial. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Favorite was by Bud Light... just three little words had me cracking up all night.
"... and a chainsaw!"
Thread: I do not want to make of polemic because, | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
If I am following the gist of this conversation correctly, I remember seeing several pieces of "art" posted like in the original topic three or four years ago. They had about a hundred comments along the lines of "OMG that's so great!" and "Great use of textures!" when it was plain as the nose on your face (no pun intended) that they'd taken a photo of a real person and photoshopped a pair of posette eyes and other features onto it. At the time I thought about marking up a copy of the artwork and posting it to show people what they were praising, but it seemed pointless.
The part that grieves me about such pieces is that the manipulation was done only to deceive people, and not to improve upon elements of the image. The elements were added only to give the impression that it was a rendered piece. Seawolf I see nothing wrong with your image, you used poser to improve your illustration, and the perceivable intent makes all the difference to me.
I hate the deception type of images, and it's pretty much why I stopped going to the gallery unless specific artists I like have posted something new.
Thread: Forum mistake or did I "lose" status? | Forum: MarketPlace Customers
Quote - Hi Tilandra, You no longer have any products in the MarketPlace.
Looks like they were removed due to lack of sales.
Yah, I noticed after I posted that while I had updated my customer address and email, I had not updated my merchant payment address and email, so I didn't get the notification when my last product dropped off the radar and my store became empty.
Hopefully that is changing soon though... :D
Thread: Merchant fails to answer , but has the CASH ! | Forum: Community Center
Um... just because they don't answer a message, doesn't mean it's anything personal.
I was away from the community for two years, and when I logged in here, I saw there was a question from a potential customer that had been here since last June. I never received a notification about it in my email. I feel badly that that person thinks I ignored them, but there's not much I can do about it now.
Has it occurred to you that maybe Renderosity's BOT just failed to let the merchant know you've sent them a query?
Thread: A silly thread about the mole and the modeller... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I don't know why you have a mole in your computer room there, but what is highly likely to happen is that he will tell another modeller what you are trying to make, and just before you release your wonderful model at renderosity, someone else will release a better cheaper version that will have a truly remarkeable resemblance to your own work. Love esther
You've had that happen too, eh? Lol
Hmmm... you have a mole on your computer to remind you that you are blind as a mole without your glasses and you need to stop squinting at the screen? Hmm... maybe I need a mole.
Thread: A question to all poser content creators... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - I mean, if I don't like it, and I made it, no one will, right?
Teyon, I wouldn't say that. Americans go gaga over "American Idol" but I can't stand that show... the taste of the average consumer can be perplexing at times. :D

@Tilandra - do you mean that some 3d programs are more "poser friendly" than others? can you please give examples?
I've been out of the marketplace for two years, so I can't point to any of my current products as examples just yet... I cleared room for the new stuff I'm planning. :D
However, while getting back into the swing of things and going over the various programs I've collected over the years (I've been playing in 3D for... I think 10 years now. Wow) to try and decide what one I'm going to concentrate on now, I've found that certain programs like C4D need a lot of tweaking export/import settings to get it right, or require a plugin. However, Shade has been amazing... Just using default export OBJ settings I can do all the texturing in Shade, and when I import it into Poser it's already textured and ready to go. Including effects settings like ambient glow. Although I'll usually go into the Shader nodes and adjust a bit more, as I get finicky. :D I created a prop yesterday, textured, and imported it in Poser and it looked exactly the same.
This makes sense, as Shade and Poser are owned by the same company now.
However, Shade as a modelling tool has been difficult for me to wrap my head around. But for various reasons, I was pretty much forced into choosing it as my modeller. Not that I'm complaining! By concentrating on one program, and quitting my usual switching back and forth between tools to accomplish tasks, it's made life a lot easier. I just have to change my way of thinking a bit to do the same things I did in other programs.
Being a merchant here is not easy. The product verification can seem restrictive and overly-harsh sometimes. You pour your soul into creating a product and for weeks there's not one nibble in the marketplace and you feel like giving up. But it can be a tremendous source of satisfaction as well, especially when everything "clicks". So don't give up, you'll get it. :D
Thread: Cynics Anonymous!! | Forum: Carrara
I ordered the Pro version with Archi tools for me and the Basics version for my daughter the second day of the promotion, and I had everything downloaded and burned to CD (did it myself, thank you :) in less than an hour. That includes the time I took to strip out all the French readmes and other things I was never going to use so I could fit the program and extra content on one disk.
I'd say the word got out and their servers are straining :D

There's also an IRC connection in Trillian. I use it for a podcast fan channel I go to regularily.
Thread: A question to all poser content creators... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Agree with Barcode... there's a million ways to answer that question. It depends on a lot of variables, such as skill and experience as you mentioned, which modelling program you're coming from (some import into poser with dreamlike ease, while others take a bunch of fiddling and tweaking to get it to work right), what you're making (I made a fliptop lighter, with rigging and pretty renders in under a day, but there's a clothes outfit that I've been working on for weeks). And lets not even get into waiting for the Renderosity testing queue or having to have the item beta tested if it fails the acid test.
That's for models you've made yourself... for textures for other's products, there's a whole other process. Getting the right seam guides, re-mapping the UVs if necessary, checking for stretching on the textures, and again if you fail the Renderosity upload testing, then you have to turn around, find beta testers, etc. etc. All that eats into your time, from project beginning to being available in the marketplace.

Thanks. Actually, Manga I've heard about, and 'Batle Angle Alita' I think I cpuld've figured out; but what the HECK is a Hugo Motoball, and -why should any of us even care?
DPH
I'm guessing they're story arcs covered in the three volumes he mentioned. As to caring, well I like most of John Carpenter's stuff so I'd be interested in what he does with Manga material, even if I'm not a big fan of the subject matter. :D
