Hello all, I've been using Poser for several years and I still can't figure out an ideal way to make clothing fit the figure perfectly so it doesn't look so fake and awkward. I'm thinking it might be better to just render the figures nude and paint the clothes on them in PhotoShop or Corel Paint. I'd get things done twice as fast and probably look a lot more realistic. I have Poser 6 and I put a skirt on Jessie as she sits crosslegged in a chair. I can't get that damned skirt to lay properly to save my life.

Thank you, retro. Your answer did provide a bit more, shall we say, depth than antevark's rather...abbreviated.. response. I shall look for that book straight away!
Thread: Too Many Files | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've become somewhat lost in the area of organizing my Poser files. I'm currently running Poser 5 and I've downloaded tons of pose and prop files from various places and now my Poser files are a huge pile of folders and I'm pretty sure alot of them are in the wrong places. For example I have in my Pose folder files that look like they should be in the materials folder.
Is there a definitive way to ulitmately organize all your Poser files and also make them easy to find? Has someone invented an instant organizer program yet?
For example, is there a way to see ALL the available poses in the pose library instead of searching through folder after folder for the one you want? Like a big page of thumbnails?
I really want to make my Poser5 as efficient as possible because I plan to use it to create digital storyboards and I need to find a particular pose fast.

Thanks to all those who've contacted me so far. Still need a few more if anyone's interested.

Good point, Wolf359...
And to answer your question, there's nothing from stopping you from doing your own animation and promoting yourself at DragonCon, Hollywood or anywhere else for that matter.
If you're a professional animator with lots of connections and promotional and marketing skills then you certainly don't need this little project at all.
I'm looking mostly for those who might be just starting out and could use the exposure but perhaps don't quite know where to go with it.
I have a few connections for example:
Dan Myrick (co-creator of the Blair Witch Project)
Marvin Gleicher (President of Manga Entertainment)
Kelly Kole (The Sopranos, Playboy, very big on the internet as a model...several of my paintings are of her so she'd certainly promote the animation that has her pictures in it)
Lilith Stabs (actress, model, web diva, lots of connections in the horror film business)
Alexandra Wolfe (President of The Wolfe Agency, Canada...big on scifi properties...many Hollywood connections)
etc.
I have ways of getting the CD in the hands of people who might make the trip a bit shorter for some of you. As for usage rights, I really only need it for the DragonCon convention. If no one responds to this project, then I'll abandon it and just do a painting demo or something.
I just had this cool idea, but don't have the animation skills to pull it off. It's like when I was in college. I entered a t-shirt design contest that was only open to art students at the college. There was no prize money, but getting my shirt printed by the biggest t-shirt company in Hawaii looked really good in a portfolio and opened a few doors. They got a shirt and I got the publicity.
If you have your own marketing program then by all means, go do that thing, get your stuff out there and I wish you success.

Everytime I try to import a Poser PZ3 file, my Vue d'Esprit crashes. Anyone have any idea what's wrong? Bob

I'll try some of the suggestions posted. In answer to your question, Nuke, I'm not sure what you mean by Kosher?
Thread: Poser Problems | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
In reply to skj77, Poser starts up with a blank viewport instead of the geek-dude who is normally there. But when I try to open ANY of the figures, they do load up because I can select body parts in the roll-down menu and I can select body parts in the render options menu, but nothing appears in the viewport and when I attempt to render, I get a memory error and the program shuts down.
Thread: Bryce vs. 3DS MAX | Forum: Bryce
I appreciate your input, Joke. It's true Bryce will take forever to render the final animation and time is not exactly a luxury here when it comes to our satellite broadcasts. MAX will certainly do a faster job and it seems to be the standard for animations here. I don't think they've ever considered using anything else. I also need to learn how to use MAX. I've had it on my computer for 4 years now and only now have I had a chance to really use it. I wonder...can you bring Bryce constructs into MAX?

Thanks, Ron... Like I said, I have toyed with Poser off and on over the past 3-4 years because it was on my office computer. I managed to teach myself how to make a person, move the arms and legs, add clothes, etc. But I didn't have any real use for it. Then a friend of mine told me about Victoria and Michael. I checked them out and decided it was time to get serious about Poser because I suddenly saw the awesome creative potential of blending the realistic Poser figures with Bryce and 3DStudioMAx backgrounds. So I'm in the process now of learning as much as I can and preparing a portfolio of NEW 3d work. Not that I'm giving up my paints and airbrush, but rather I'm exploring a new uncharted path in my nearly 30 year art career.

Yeah, the background stuff is all Bryce and then I worked on the whole image in PhotoShop 6. I've only been using Poser seriously for the past two months or so. I've had it on my office computer for four years, but never had a reason to use it! But I'm really getting into it now! Bob
Thread: making poser clothes-mac omputer | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I see, well the reason I ask is that I'm planning several projects that will require the creation of some original characters for a graphic novel and some digital paintings. Thing is, I'm nervous about the whole copyright thing. If I take a Victoria figure, add the Asia photo-realistic body texture, put some clothes on her from the CDs that they sell at DAZ and change the colors,etc....everything still belongs to the respective companies that created them right? Even if I morph the features to look like my wife, it still belongs to Poser, DAZ and whoever made the clothes? Somehow it doesn't seem logical because if I do a painting using a Fredrix canvas, Grambacher Paints and Badger airbrush colors, the painting is still MINE to sell. I should think the same sort of thing applies to our 3d creations. Or am I way out in left field here. Bob

Okay, I'm very new at this and I'm trying to understand something... The basic mesh diagrams of the clothing upon which you place the various store-bought, default and freebie clothing textures is something that can not be manipulated or created in a drawing program? CR2 files are text? So if you want to create an original item of clothing for a Poser figure, it's a programming type thing right?
Thread: The LONGEST RENDER EVER!!!!!! | Forum: Bryce
Well, I guess there's no way around it. From the sound of it, it's normal to have renders that last several hours, if not days. Do you leave your computer running for the whole time? Another question involves demo-reels. If all you do is 3d models and scenes, what sort of demo-reel can you do with just still images? The reason I'm asking is that I'm planning on looking for work in Hollywood later this year. Bob
