Thank you for your help. The old files I purchased from DAZ for characters like V4, The Girl 4 , etc did not come in a ZIP file but instead were .exe files. So if I were to re-download them from DAZ, would they now be ZIP files that I could just install directly into Poser like the ZIP files I purchase from Renderosity?
Thread: Poser 11 Reference Manual | Forum: New Poser Users Help
After a long absence, I am returning to my digital art hobby with Poser. Previously I purchased products such as Victoria 4.2, Genesis figures, props, poses, etc and brought everything into Poser. While I kept copies of my purchases, I have forgotten how to install them into Poser. While I enjoy the content included within Poser, I want to use my other material tool. I would really appreciate some help. Thank you.

Thanks for your suggestions re content files formatting.
Yes, you are correct. Windows does not permit two folders with the identical name to be inside the same folder... and these folders WERE identical. This includes the same upper and lower case characters. Yep, I was just as surprised as you were. In fact, I once had three identically named folders together. I don't know how the DAZ installer circumvented this Windows OS prohibition, but it did. I was able to manually fix things, but it was a hassle.

Thanks to everyone who offered advice regarding the DAZ Installer problem. It appears the only practical solution is to reorganize my Poser installation. I guess I'll tackle that project when the new version of Poser becomes available later this month.
It seems installing Poser files in the My Documents folder is popular. Is that the best place? What configuration do you use that you have been happy with?
Thanks, --- cjw    Â
Thread: Backgrounds that don't cover after rendering? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hey, You gotta love the great response you get on this board when you have a question! Thanks all.

I really appreciate all your suggestions. Now for a simple question: Where do I set the "maximum texture size." I would imagine it's in the Material Room... someplace. I went to the Material Room and selected the background and tried to find something that said set maximum texture size, but have't found it yet. Thanks.

Thank you both for the information! A bug... and here I thought I was doing something wrong. I appreciate your response.
Thread: How much is enough! A Poll. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Results of the How much memory is enough poll.
Sample Size: 57
Percent Satisfied with Poser Performance (Ascending Order):
256MB or less--- 50% N = 9
1GB -------------62% 21
2 GB ------------67% 6
512MB -----------72% 18
Over 2GB -------100% 3
Comments:
Several people mentioned that P5 needs more memory to perform satisfactorily than P4/PP.
Individuals who were satisfied with less than 512MB often mentioned that they did not use hi-res figures like the millennium characters, or at least they kept the number of characters and other items low. This probably contributes to the higher than expected level of satisfaction among owners of machines with lower memory configurations.
Just 65% of the respondents in all the categories were satisfied with the level of performance they were experiencing. Of course, there are many other factors that contribute to performance such as processor speed, platform, OS, version of Poser being used, and others.
*Some people mentioned their experience using other memory intensive applications like TrueSpace (OK at 512MB) and 3DSMax (not OK at 512MB).
Conclusion:
It is no surprise that Poser, especially P5, seems to work best with plenty of memory. However, the sweet spot for most participants seems to be between 512MB and 1GB. Obviously, if one wishes to run many other applications at the same time, more memory will be necessary. However, it appears that computers possessing memory within this range may be sufficient for most users.
Thank you to all those who participated in this poll.

Thanks Sveva for all your suggestions. I will definitely follow up on them. Also, I took a look at the pictures in your gallery. BEAUTIFUL! I especially like "Solitude" with that glowing lamp. Very cool!
Thread: Getting rid of little red handles! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks to one and all for the suggestions on how to disspell those little, red dickens! Apparently, there is more than one solution depending on the original creator of the object. At least now I have some new things to try. Thanks again.

Thank you all for the information. It is much appreciated. And thanks, Dale B for helping me feel less guilty about all the stuff I have managed to jam into my runtime folder. I am sure I will eventually catch up to the rest of you. There are just too many nice additions that I still want for my Poser library. ;-)
