Thread: Problems with Stephanie | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I've had similar problems and initially suspected the huge bump maps. Thus, I reduced their size to 2000 x 2000 pixels. This helped, however Poser was still behaving funky on me (I'm using a 500 MHz machine, with 376 MB of RAM). So I took another approach. Not needing the high resolution maps for most of my work, I decided to reduce the size of both the texture and bump maps. First, I archived the original maps. Then, using Photoshop and working with copies of the DAZ maps, I reduced the resolution from 300 pixels per inch to 150 pixels per inch. This, in turn, reduced the maps from 4000 x 4000 to 2000 x 2000 pixels. Now I could have left the map names the same, placed them in the original texturesDAZCharactersStephanie folder, and used the MAT files as is. However, this ideal didn't appeal to me as I wanted to keep the original maps and MAT files as is -- even if they're giving me trouble. Instead, I created a second "standard" resolution folder, placed the nenamed modified maps in it, and edited a duplicate set of Stephanie MAT files to reflect the new file name and folder. Now everything works fine. Certainly, all I've done is side stepped the original problem. However, I think that it's a reasonable solution until someone comes up with a better one. Hope that this helps.

Being a huge Buffy fan, I have to add my opinion as well... This new Buffy looks great, but please also do Willow! Then maybe follow her with a new Anya; Tara; Dawn; and, of course that bad girl Faith. Thanks for all your wonderful Buffy characters.

Grammer oh no, the very person I dont want to hear from considering my condition at the time that I posted this message! But seriously, thanks for your suggestions Karl (aka Grammer). I understand you with regard to the light and dark tones in the bump map (question 1). However, I dont follow you with regard to the resolution (question 2). My bump map was actually made from the grayscale bump map that DAZ provides as a .jpg. In the PC version of Poser 4.03, the program converts this into the map that is actually used. I (or at least Photoshop) suspect that the map is actually a .bmp file, although Poser labels it .bum. This takes the map from a few hundred kilobyte .jpg file to a whopping 12 MB .bum file! And, what is the deal with the MAT files? Thanks Leather-Guy for the research and Grammer for putting up with mine! Take care.

Sorry, but as I understand it, you're out of luck trying to apply Stephanie's morphs and textures to Victoria. Although Stephanie can use Victoria's props and wear her clothes, Stephanie is built of Michael 2's geometry. For more information, check out the FAQ sheet on the Stephanie page at DAZ-3D's store (www.daz3d.com). Hope this helps! PS. Where did you find the 46 Stephanie morphs?

Oh, did I mention that I was up until 3:30 in the morning struggling with this issue? So please forgive my typos... Thanks again!

Just to let folks know: Although I'm unable to access the site using Netscape Navigator 4.78, Internet Explorer 6.0 works fine. Thanks for the great morphs!

Thread: Problems with Vickie knees. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
This knee thing has been a real problem for me. Lately Ive been exploring poses based on the classic pinup work of artists like Gil Elvgren, Earl McPherson, and Peter Metcalf (with the above image base on an illustration by Andrew Loomis). Many of these poses involve the subject kneeling or reclining, with that at least one knee folded past ninety degrees. I had hoped that there was a Joint Editor fix for this problem. If not a fix, are there joint editor settings that would improve the look of the knee? Ive also considered fixing the knee with magnets (which Im just learning to use). It has also crossed my mind to make a new kneecap prop from a sphere and try replacing the original knee with it (probably far more work than its worth). In the end, I fear that the final solution lies in the post-rendering something that I would like to avoid. Thanks all!
