I wrote PoserPhysics in 2005, and it was sold via the old eFrontier Content Paradise for many years. So yes, I created it, and yes it uses ODE which is credited in the download page.
Eugene Khutoryansky has done some excellent physics videos using Poser and the plugin which are worth a look - for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jarmWzGe78k

Generally,Yes (depending on your lighting) - set Kernel->GI Clamp to 5, Imager->Hotpixel to 0, and Kernel->Path Termination Power to 0.1.

I just tested this on PoserPro2014, and copying the C:/Python27/Lib/idlelib folder into C:/Program Files/Smith Micro/Poser Pro 2014/Runtime/Python/Tools and making the use_subprocess change works! So thank you!
Unfortunately I could debug a PoserPython Addon, since the are initiated from within Poser rather then the IDLE editor.

I have updated from Win 8.1 (which I already didn't like and had some issues with) to Windows 10, and have had a lot of problems. Poser now takes > 5 mins to start, and operations that took a few minutes in Poser under Win 8.1 now take minutes in Win 10. Looking at Task Manager and Runtime Broker is part of the problem - but I've disabled absolutely every Metro feature on the system and it won't go away (it uses up to 34% of my CPU power). So all in all, very disappointed.

I downloaded it. When I try to do an animation, it say "animations not allowed."

(tried octane, and it looks fast, but demo doesn't allow animation so I can't really test it in there)
The OctaneRender for Poser plugin (VR version) is FREE to use until the end of July - and it allows animation.

If you are running out of memory on the card, turn on Out of Core in the Device tab. That will store any overflow texturemaps in your CPU RAM.

I'll install gpuz and see if heat is the culprit.
If it happens again, go into the plugin Devices tab and copy/paste the Octane Log window here so I can see exactly what the issue is.
Also, if you install Octane Standalone VR it will tweak your registry settings to set the correct video card time-outs for Octane. Or you can tweak them yourself (see FAQ question 29 http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Poser/?page_id=182).

Kernel 3 exception code,
When rendering an animation, if you hardware/fans/etc are not up to it, you might find your graphics card heats up, and once it hits a certain temp, a Cuba error will pop (to protect your card from damage). Download GPU-Z and monitor your temps. If they are getting high, drop the Render Priority in the Cuda Devices tab (remember to click Apply).
