Thread: Normal maps in Carrara | Forum: Carrara
Thank you GK, I hadn't heard of these programs before.  Shadermap Pro especially looks  like a good one to buy.

Thread: NEW Carrara 5 book - comments | Forum: Carrara
I haven't seen the Carrara 5 handbook yet, but I did get the C3 handbook by the same author. The tutorials were in the form of run-on paragraphs, instead of clear steps, and the book seemed to be more for expert Carrara users than beginners. So I don't think this latest book will be any different.

LCBoliou, I got WB 3.6 from 3D World too! Great program. I did check out the Onyx software...a bit too expensive. I think eventually I will get Xfrog Lite. I will try to learn more about Carrara's tree editor. I wasn't impressed with the stock Carrara trees, but I didn't know you could improve them so much. I think the worst tree editor is Bryce 5's Tree Lab...totally unrealistic-looking trees, and even though there were about 60 different species, they all looked pretty much the same!

I downloaded PlantStudio. It's a neat little program. You can only make flowers and small plants, and they aren't as realistic looking as Xfrog or Vue plants, but still, it's a fun program. I just recently got WB 3.6, I didn't know it had a plant editor.

Mark, thanks for all the information. I will try to make some trees with Carrara. For small plants and flowers, I think I could just model them in Carrara, like any other object. With Vue, I thought you couldn't export Vue plants because they are in the .vob format. Not sure about this though. I think eventually I will get XFrog, but for now I will be making my own plants. Thread: World Builder Pro ver 3.6 FREE issue 74 3D World | Forum: Vue
I got WB 3.6 from 3D World and have been playing with it for the last few days. It's a fun program to use and you can make some beautiful scenes with it. I'd love to get WB Pro 4, but it seems way too expensive to me ($700, $500 special for 3D World readers). WB Pro seems to be about equal to Vue Esprit ($250). WB Genesis ($180) has too many features disabled to be worth bothering with.

Thread: Yafray site is gone. | Forum: Blender
Thanks archdruid and haloedrain. I checked out some other Blender forums and found out that the domain name did expire. Some Blender users have contacted Yafray's developers and they are apparently working on getting the site back online. But if it isn't back soon, I will definitely get back to you about sending me a copy of the installer. Thanks! :-)
Thread: Is it ok to give away old version of Carrara that you purchased? | Forum: Carrara
Tunesy, If you can't give your friend your old version of Carrara, there are lots of good freeware 3D programs out there. The link below has a list of some freeware apps and their download links. http://www.computerarts.co.uk/downloads/3d__and__animation?result_page=2 I downloaded Blender and now use it for polygon modelling. If I couldn't afford Carrara, I'd be using Blender full-time. Just a thought. :-)
