Here's a quick hack that needs work. I don't need this as I don't keep my browser window maximized, but maybe it helps :) I tested this with Stylish (Firefox addon). table.content_table * { background-image: none !important } table.outside_table { width: 100% !important; } table.content_table { width: 100% !important; } td.content_cell { width: 100% !important; max-width: 100% !important; }
Thread: Daz generations/families of figures list? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - Also the Gen3 figures was the "unimesh" - the Gen4 figures are not 8meaning that Gen 3 Mike and Vicki was essentially the same mesh with slight alterings in the grouping, Gen 4 are separate meshes for Vickie and Mike (at least I think they are...)
Nope, all 4th gen figures (V4, M4, K4) are based on the same mesh. You can apply the same textures and morphs to all of them with little difficulty.
Shameless plug: see my posts here for details http://araneldon.blogspot.com/

Quote - > Quote - Displacement is also limited to deforming a surface along its normals, so the types of baked deformations would be limited.
stewer (Stefan Werner - SM's maintainer of Firefly) told me that Firefly displacement is actually 3-dimensional. It accepts a vector, much like normal maps do. But only a simplified form (equivalent to bump mapping) was exposed in the material room.
I'm not 100 % sure about this, it's been several months since I saw the thread at DAZ...
In DAZ Studio normal maps can be used to control the direction of displacement. I.e. you'd use a regular displacement map and a normal map together. I don't remember exactly how this works; I don't use DS so it was just a curiosity quickly (almost) forgotten.
Thread: Updated V4 & M4 | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Quote - The low rez V4 I have was bundled with DAZ|Studio 3, but no M4 is included. If it's available anywhere, it might have been packed with a newer version of D|S than what I have (3.0.1.120) but I don't believe they got around to that. A low rez mesh is not provided with any of the M4 download packs that I've seen.
The low res meshes are now in the M4 base installer. Reset and redownload.

All content is downloadable.
They probably ask the shipping address because some of their subscription options include DVDs.

Quote - They are converted during the subdivison process.
The result is a new .obj, new .cr2, with subdivided mesh and subdivided morphs.
Ah yes, of course. Shouldn't post before having my morning coffee.
Could be very useful sometimes.

Quote - I made a program that can highres-ify a figure at selected faces. Not sure if it can help here, but it can be used to create highres-hips, at least ;). Morphs and textures do still work after subdivision.
Should work on any figure, on any body parts.
You mean the original morphs will work without any conversion?
Thread: If you want Poser 8 or Pro 2010 and don't have it yet... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I just got the email.
Apparently Morphing Clothes is also sold at CP, so this may be your chance to get it at 50% off :) I'd certainly go for it if I had any money to spare.
Thread: No more purchases | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
When the power of one customer's opinion isn't sufficient to bring about changes in policy it may be necessary to raise awareness of the issues. Posting in the appropriate forum is not going to accomplish this if very few people visit such a forum.
I consider posts like this (sometimes) a necessary first step in communicating the importance of an issue to the site administration. The second step is of course to bring the issue to the attention of those who make the decisions.
Thread: Carrara 8 is live | Forum: Carrara
Quote - Once again, no email to this previous user. Fifteen offers to Platinum Club, sure...but never an alert for as much as a single upgrade for the software I've previously bought.
They don't send anything unless you have subscribed to their mailing lists. There have been several mentions of Carrara 8 in the non-PC newsletter.
Thread: I had heard..... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
A low price will make me wonder whether there is something wrong with the product as someone else pointed out. However, this is not an issue if there is sufficient information to determine whether or not the product meets my expectations. Quite often this is unfortunately not the case.
And of course an unconditional refund policy does away with such concerns entirely ;-)

Try this series of tutorials. The author has a rather peculiar style, I found them a bit slow but to each their own :)

Quote - hoplaa: I dont know why the scale on the gens would not be working in carrara, but I shall endeavor to find out. I read somewhere recently that I can pick up Carrara for fairly low cost these days, is this true? and where do I get it? (who makes it)
Problems with scaling are fairly common in Carrara.
If you're seriously interested in buying, the best deal is to get the book which has a full version of Carrara 6 Pro, and upgrade that to C7P which then also gives you C8P for free:
http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=136508
I would give you a link to the book but I can't remember its name. It's sold at DAZ and various bookstores. Let me know if you need it and I'll dig it up.
There's also a free demo (Carrara 7 Pro, fully functional IIRC) at download.com
By the way, loaded Brad in DS and the genital area is broken there as well, but in a different way.
