As a long term Vue hobbyist since days of Vue 4, last year I upgrade to Vue 2023.  I am retired now and also was into Lightwave 3d - but the latest Lightwave owners don't update the code and was disappointed with the change. Graphics is a hobby for me and I also got into Rebelle 7 Pro.
I was not planning to upgrade, but I just downloaded all files and thinking of Installling and revisiting it.
I do have 3 questions
1. Should you use the 2023 or 2024 version
2. Should I uninstalled original versions
3. Can 2023 Mac version work on ARM like the M2.

Well I be out of touch of Vue for many years - own Vue 6 xStream but recently I got started back into it. I was curious about upgrading my 6 version to new one - Vue 2016 Studio was one I decided - to get since the prices have skyrocked on Vue 0 oddly Lightwave 3d was only $200. Changes in website was interesting and disturbing - could not get me comparison list but got in contact with Walter and notice change in email. So I finally got download from Motion Media and I notice in emails from Walter that he was on holiday in Italy. I also notice that links in Vue did not work - but it been about 48 hours - but I still have not gotten my activation.
I am curious about actual state of Vue and also it relationship with Bentley - hopefully my fully legal license for Vue 2016 Studio will activated - I was thinking about some upgrades - but hearing about possibility of Vue 2018, I think I wait - EcoPainter is probably what I need -not sure Vue is much more complex than the Vue 6 xStream

I running Vue 6 xStream on Supermicro X7DA3 based Dual Xeon 5160 system with 8G of memory. Latest updates fix most of my stability problems with Floating license system. I have notice that the renders are very fast and use all 4 cpus.Â
Is there a good benchmark for Vue 6.

Vista does bring up an interesting issue, I have the License server installed on XP64, if I have Vista and desired to use Vue, I will need the licenser server on Vista - will that be allowed.

One way E-on could solve the problem with protection and such, is too have unprotected tree option. Its been a while since I dealt with Vue, but during Vue 4 Pro days before I purchase it, I remmeber a lot of issues with crashes because of there protection scheme.
I actually don't mind the way that Lightwave does it with there dongle. At least I can use it on a Notebook not connected to my network.

Thats sounds perfect, now I just hope floating licenses get fix.  I will definely have to try this out.
Thanks a lot.

So is there a requirement for paint ecosystem on only surfaces facing down. Can I paint ecosystem on a ball for example.
I just Hope E-on fix the floating license issues - it would make it much easlier
Thread: ...The Big 64 Bit Question... | Forum: Vue
Quote - I am running nodelocked vue6 infinite on a xp 64, and it's fine :)
The problem with licenses is related to Floating License, not sure about the crashes - but I believe others have also seen it with Floating licenses. My version is also xStream version if that makes any difference.

Thanks for response - I will have to give it a try - but in my idea its actually more complicated than just a wall. Its actually part of 3d Object. But most of time architexture ( Building ) objects are rectangles.
I believe Ecosystem can be done on non rectangular objects, I seen some images, so is this limitation only for painting ecosystems.
That brings up to another question. Can object previous purchase at Cornucopia3D store wotk with Vue 6. My situation might actually be more complicated. My previous purchases were done on my original Vue 5 Infinite product. But I got another version of Vue 5 Infinite when I upgrade my Lightwave 3d to version 9.0, I use that version for my upgrade to Vue 6 xStream because I deisred them to work together.

I have also responded in e-on thread. They need to fix this problem ASAP. This one ranks up there with ExtraCD content problem.

I believe once the license, content and crash issues get resolved, Vue 6 will be the most awesome tool out. Specular lighting and displacements are so cool.

Vue 6 xStream on my P4 has the same license problem, but it takes longer for to happen.
Does any body else have the Floating License version working.. could it be a port issue.
Thread: ...The Big 64 Bit Question... | Forum: Vue
Both 32 bit and 64 bit versions can be installed on same Windows 64 bit - they share documents area.
The license problem still happens - not sure about reliability issue .
Thread: License server problems | Forum: Vue
I installed 32 bit on same machine and the same problem happen with License server. I will test it with running on 3.2Ghz P4 machine connected accorss network.
