Quote - Point taken, however have you tried IDL rendering instead of IBL for ambient lighting to see if the same problem occurs.
Yes I have. The line only appears with IBL and AO. Every other lighting scheme does not show a line. If I turn down the AO Scene bias to 0.0004 the line goes away, but so does most of the shadow that I want to retain. When I render it in Lux through Reality, there is no problem and there is no problem with Firefly's IDL.

Well, I set the bias down to 0.0004 from 0.0009. It did the trick, but it feels like I turned off AO. The shadow is really no longer visible. No worries though. I felt that it might be a limitation of the Firefly renderer.

Quote - > Quote - Well, through all my troubleshooting, simply turning off AO on the IBL light gets rid of the issue, but that also leaves me without the deep shadow effect I like to have with these renders. I just got a reply back from SM saying, basically, they don't know either and have forwarded the issue to a Project Team.
I will check the shadow bias when I get home though. Thanks!
Yes, the width of the white line is the AO-bias you get for intersecting objects. Lower it to make the white line thinner. You can even assign negative values, but too small values will make the edges of your mesh shine through. You can set the bias value in "Scene AO Options" in the properties panel of the light.
Thank you!! I will try that tonight and post the results.

Quote - I remember seeing that. Which Poser version do you use?
I currently use Poser Pro 2012 with the latest SR.
Oh, and I would like to apologize for the thread name. I fat fingered that and it should read "IBL", not "IDL".

Will Dawn's texture maps be better than V4's? So many seams to take care of. The all in one mesh of Aiko3 worked very well.

Have you gone into the Display menu? Choose Display from the top, then scroll down to Guides, then choose Focus Distance Guide. This will put a large "X" in your current window with a sphere and torus in the middle.
Above your parameter dials is another dropdown menu. Click on it and choose Cameras, then Main Camera. When the dials show up for the camera, you will see a dial called "focus_Distance". Depending on what you want to focus on, turn this dial to the point where the large guide (the "X") intersects whatever is your main focal point (what you want to focus on).
Once this is complete, go to your Render settings. You should see the Auto settings. For sake of argument, let us go with what I use. Your mileage may vary ;-) Move the slider to the Final setting. Once that is done, click on Manual Settings. This will take you out of the slider area. You will see a BIG button called "Acquire from Auto". Click it. Now your settings have changed. Move Raytrace bounces to 2 if you have no transparencies. Near the bottom of the list is a setting called Pixel samples. This is where the magic happens. Set it anywhere between 15-20. This will cause your render to take forever, but it will be worth it. To the right, under Options, is a box called Depth of field. Put a check in there.
Now all you have to do is click on Render Now. Site mail me if you have still have issues with DOF.
Thread: Poser 8 Starts Up, then Disappears... | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I have this issue from time to time. What I did was create a shortcut link to the preference file. When this happens, I just go to that folder and delete the file. Poser comes right back up, I move everything back in to position and work as normal.

Bill, thanks for the driver advice. I thought Windows update was taking care of that, but obviously not, so I went to the NVIDIA properties and updated the drivers. The message window issue has disappeared.
Now if I can just keep the Library from crashing when I am trying to open up the folders. I am possibly moving to fast though.

I am running an NVIDIA FeoForce Go 7300 on a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop with 2 gig of RAM. OS is Vista Home Premium. I submitted a report to SM so now I just have to wait until I hear from them.

Ok, I just wanted to see if I was the only one. I wouldn't mind hearing what SM tells you :D

I just bought P8 this morning. I have been using Poser since version 2. My issue is with any message window that pops up. I have installed SR1, but with P6 and P7, I have never had this issue. Anytime a message window pops up (ex. Deleting just one light with only Andy loaded) and I click either Cancel or OK, P8 just locks up. I even switched over to SreeD to see if that would do anything, but to no avail.
Has anyone seen this problem?
