Thread: BLOOD IN THE WATER...my first tutorial and not a second to soon! | Forum: Bryce
Wow, that really doesn't look as realistic as your previous blood render (in my previous topic). Maybe it was b/c it was darker and not anti-aliased. Regardless, it's still an excellent tutorial and will come in handy. Thanks for your time and sorry about your PC. ~JKS
Thread: underwater blood? | Forum: Bryce
It reminds me of squid ink. You could say there was a squid hiding behind the rock and shot some ink. But about the blood, I had asked about making realistic blood in water in bryce awhile ago and Vile has a pretty good method (b/c I think his looks pretty realistic). Hold on, let me fish out my old post... Ah, here it is: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=381488 Anyway, Vile was supposed to be making a tutorial and I'm still waiting for it. But looking at those pics, it may help you get a little idea of what you're going for. Hope you find what you need & I hope Vile makes his tutorial soon. ~JKS
Thread: truth | Forum: Bryce
Hey, that's a pretty cool website. They've got mental state of confusion (which was basically what I was talking about). They used a little tornado-looking drawing to illustrate that, though, but still said to put it over a person's head. As for truth, they had two symobls. So Mercutio will have to look at those and see which he likes best. Thanks for the site, IndigoSplash, this site will also come in real handy for me. ~JKS
Thread: Bryce 5: Is it worth the upgrade? | Forum: Bryce
From what I've heard about B5, it really is an excellent program, better than B4 in many ways. I personally am not going to upgrade until B6 (it shouldn't be too long before they come out with that, maybe a year and a few months, right?). ~JKS
Thread: truth | Forum: Bryce
Truth is usually represented at a bright light in everything I've ever seen. You could always do the whole book theme, but that's usually knowledge, not necessarily truth. As for mental illness, you could make something up. I imagine a human head with two arrows chasing each other in a circle above the head would work. Unfortunately I don't think there is a standard symbol for mental illness, so the best you can really do is just make one up. I'd go for the whole bright light to represent truth, though. It kinda goes with that whole enlightenment idea. ~JKS

Although ringbearer's image looks awesome (granted I thought the birds were the talking flowers from Alice in Wonderland at first), I'm afraid I'm going to have to go for Irish because, even though I've never heard that clich it's still funny and a good illustration of that clich ~JKS

Who says I didn't rotate the camera -20? :O) Thanks. Anyway, do you see the hidden person? That is the point of this picture. ~JKS
Thread: Anyone have an Earth (globe) Material? | Forum: Bryce
Thanks, I'll keep those for future reference. I ended up using the earth image #2 from http://www.wam.umd.edu/~kamelkev/Ssystem/#Maps. It worked well for me. Chemical Studios looks pretty nice, I'm surprised I never came across that site before. Thanks again. ~JKS

Thread: Digital vs. Regular photography | Forum: Photography
Well, for starters, I really only intend to do scenery and poses, which I believe will be easily covered by digital. My one concern was print-out. I've seen plenty of digital cameras on the market w/ a huge resolution maximum, and although I haven't done the math yet to figure out what resolution is reasonable (it'll only take a few seconds to do, so I keep putting it off), I heard that if you want extremely high print-quality on photo paper, you'll have to set the dpi/ppi (same thing, really, but depending on program used, the acronym changes) to around 300dpi. That means I'd have to have really large pictures so they don't print really small. Not that this would be a problem, as most images are good to be increased in size by 50% of the original when using smart sizing capabilities without losing too much quality (although a little detail). And with film you can print at pretty much any size you want and still have a crisp picture. So my main concern is print-out. Other than that, I'm leaning towards digital for ease of use. Any information on the print-out area would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the info & opinions thus far. ~JKS

Alright, I think I get it now. I just always assumed that it was really only piracy if you downloaded it from one of those warez sites. On a side note, I used to use Napster (when it worked), and I still pay for my CDs, I just download CDs that aren't available at my music store or aren't even manufactured anymore (like Pushmonkey's first CD, "Maize"). Of course, if I'm just looking for one song from a CD, I'll get that instead of buying the entire CD. And as far as you musicians out there, I don't blame you for being against Napster. I figure you'd like to make a decent living off of your music, and if they actually do make a working CD that is 100% Un-copiable, and still plays music (is that possible?), then you should go for it and use that type of CD to advance your music career. I for one am about freedom. When I start programming, I'll have people pay for a few of my programs, but most will be cheap or free. If they can't handle the minimal fee, they can download it from a warez site. I don't like warez sites because of all the porn that pops-up. But, I'm rambling now, so I think you get my point. I didn't think that I was committing a crime by getting a copy of my friend's Poser4 and I do pay for software about 98% of the time. ~JKS
