His work really stood above the rest.
I met him in a hallway at the BAAF convention in New York I guess about 4 years ago.
He bowed and smiled and seemed like a great guy.
Have to re watch "Tokyo Godfathers" tonight. Really sad news.

What got you into using Poser?
A 386SX computer with nothing installed on it, a Poser 1 ad in a catalog and curiosity.
Thread: O/T First Moon Landing 1969 40 years ago today! | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
My father and I watched it in total silence (the "generation gap" thing was going strong that year).
Finally I said, "I can't believe what I'm watching!" He agreed and we "broke the ice" as they say. The moon looked very different that night and still does.

Thanks for making me realise the animation plugin was even available.****
With a keyframe editor this program is looking interesting again.
Strange way to develop a program though....

Thread: Animation methodology? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Just my two cents:
I create all the keyframes 1st and use constant interpolation so it jumps from one key to the next.
Then I create some in-between poses (when needed). I then change the interpolation to linear one section at a time, watch the transitions and tweak poses. (using the scrub bar).
Then I get out a stopwatch and act out the movements to get the approximate timing. Then start sliding keys around to match that timing.
If you know about anticipation then here is where you insert those keys. (eyes start to turn before the head and so on.)
The absolute last step is animating the hands, expressions and lips.
Hope this helps.

I've used this at work a few times.
It's tricky to get what you want, but yes it's powerful.

Programs going "poof!" and their gone, is always a memory issue.
At work we have switched to 64 bit and like magic the BS has disappeared. We have been lied to during the whole 32 bit era about stability.

Looks like it was done with Facegen which is really an easy program to use.

Thread: How 2 convert .max format to poser ready file - poseray won't | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Ask someone in the Max forum to convert it for you. You never know.
Just to set the record straight:
.3ds is the format 3D studio (DOS) used for years. When 3ds Max 1.0 came out (around '94 I think) the format switched to .max which is proprietary as stated above. The .3ds format is barely used any more because it has a polygon # limitation and is restricted to the old 8.3 name format.
The .max format changes with every new release of Max (9 is the current version). This has been their way of forcing you to upgrade all along and it has worked very well.
These guys have been around forever. They have a translator.

Thread: 3ds Max marrys Poser | Forum: Animation
I'm jumping in here late. Sorry.
Like many Poser users I went through the same torment as you did.
Up until recently my solution was to use Poser 4 pro pack and Max 3.1. The free plug-in worked wonderful despite the poser community almost unanimously denouncing it. But of course I was giving up many other features with this solution. The other Poser to Max solutions look interesting but I don’t like the idea of depending on a small company to be there for me on a big project.
A few months ago I switched to Max 8 Biped. I'm an experienced Max user but biped / skinning and the whole character creation thing was new to me. The learning curve was steep but I can now rig, pose, morph and animate as well as I was doing in Poser. Biped is very Poser like and has some really cool features.
I don’t use Aiko or Victoria so this of course made the choice easier (rigging them in Max would be too difficult I would think).
 Just my thoughts.
Thread: Just spotted M3 (I think) on History Channel tonight. | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Saw the show but didn't notice M3. I've have seen vicky and mike on a few shows around cable.
Btw great show: Very creepy watching Hitler chat about mundane things. They put a human face on a monster.
Thread: OT- Making firefox load faster. Sorry broadband users only | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I'm seeing a big speed increase in most of the places I have tried.
Not in this forum however. Slow as always.
