Yes, for the last 3 days, I'm getting the same pair of emails regarding 2 items in my wishlist that apparently have gone on sale. I expect I'll be getting them again tomorrow...
Thread: Any python scripts to remove all textures from a figure? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks, nruddock! I am indeed using P5. Would you know offhand of a similar function call in P5?

Hi templargfx, I tried running the python script you supplied in msg #5 above but nothing seems to happen as far as removing textures from the figure except for this 3-line message that appears in the python window:
Traceback(most recent calls last):
File, line 8, in ?
AttributeError: LoadMaterialSet
I tried placing my "Clear.mt5" in different folders and also supplying a complete pathname (starting with "c:...") to the LoadMaterialSet call but nothing seems to help.
Any ideas what I should try?
Thanks!

Thanks templargfx, that's a perfect explanation and I'll be trying it soon. Also randym77's link to a thread about shading rates as an alternative to texture filtering helped a lot.

Hi again, sorry, I still don't know what exactly the contents of this material file you refer to should be? I want every body part to not have any texture. I don't care what color the body part itself is--pure white, black, it doesn't matter. What should go into this material file? Is it a text file that I create with an editor? Thanks again for your help.

Thanks templargfx, sounds good but I have one question. I'm not sure what I should use for "clear.mt5" as I have not .mt5 files in my materials folder to use as a guide. I really want no texture maps loaded at all as even a "blank" one will not stop poser from doing its texture filtering calculations. Is there a way to program a python script to simply remove all maps associated with all the body parts/zones so that you get a completely untextured figure? Thanks again.

Thanks randym77 and ernyoka1, I'll look into your suggestions. I did mean to ask specifically about MAT files but forgot to put it into my post.

Thread: Glowing Hair | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
I had a hair prop that glowed like that because of its "transluscence" setting in the material room. I lowered it from 1 to about .2 and compensated by "raising" the ambient color from black to medium gray (RGB = 128/128/128).
Thread: Billy-t's "Clear Mules" for V2 available anywhere? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks...but where is the v3 version that you mention? That would be just as good as the v2. BTW, I did try contacting him but probably English poses too much of a problem. Thanks again.

Also always check the size of the textures for each item. I once had a problem rendering a complicated image until I reduced the sizes of several textures. For example, one pair of shoe props used a leather texture that was 4000x4000! I saved the original and reduced it in photoshop to 1000x1000 which was more than enough for my purposes.
Thread: Strange artifacts when rendering window blinds---can anyone help? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the input, everyone.
Moe---The prop is definitely loaded only once.
ockham---I tried bucket sizes from 32 to 512 but it made no difference.
MungoPark---I'll check that link out. The blinds do seem to be one-sided as the beige material color disappears when you look at the reverse side (it's black).
Thank you again.
Thread: P5 can't find "camera.obj" | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Hi ockham,
Thanks...I did check the PZ3 file and the pathnames refering to "camera.obj" seemed correct ("runtime:geometries: ... :camera.obj").
I also saved the file under a new name and the problem persisted.
As I mentioned, I didn't have any problems working with the file (adding figures to it, rendering, etc.) even when I ignored poser's prompt to locate the missing file. I'm guessing "camera.obj" corresponds to the on-screen representations of the cameras but even they appear normal.

Thread: Can Poser executable and PZ3 files be split-up to separate drives? | Forum: Poser - OFFICIAL
Thanks for the answers. I was hoping to install P5 into just C:poser instead of the convoluted c:program filescurious labsposer but as Lyrra points out that may cause havoc with my old PZ3 files as far as finding geometries and textures. Maybe I'll try it anyway.
