Mauser invented the bolt-action rifle in the late nineteenth century, and all bolt action designs are derived from the Mauser design (the US government had to pay Mauser a royalty for the design of the M1903 Springfield rifle). During the twentieth century the Mauser Model 98 rifle was manufactured under license by perhaps 20 or 30 countries. Quite literally tens of millions of Mauser model 98 rifles were made, and are still available to (mostly American) collectors. I just received a German k98 Mauser rifle this week via UPS. It's sitting against the desk next to me.Thread: Gun Model WIP | Forum: Bryce
The AK-47 fires 7.62x39.

No, the magazine is curling in the correct direction, assuming this handgun is firing rifle cartridges. Rifle cartridges are much narrower at the bullet tip than back by the rim. Handgun cartridges less so, but this is the future, right?

Guns at this link have Picatinny rails on top and sides, which are used to mount optics and accessories (lights, etc). This is the hot ticket in tactical small arms these days. I can't think of any significant changes or improvements in firearms design in the future, except perhaps caseless ammunition or biometric operator authorization. Aside from optics and materials, there haven't really been any significant improvements in the last 60-70 years. So it has been difficult for me to imagine a significantly "futuristic" design for a gun. That was one aspect of Blade Runner I never really got. How do you improve on the revolver? All I can recommend is a red dot scope. You can find these all over the Internet. For your project, remember that the slide moves separately from the barrel, and that you need a case ejection port on one side (traditionally the right side). That's pretty good modelling for Bryce.Thread: Has anyone seen this!?... | Forum: Bryce
Sadly, I would rather eat a live cockroach than load and run RealPlayer to see those animations.

No one has mentioned the attributes box. When I am playing in Bryce, I seem to spend most of my time working the numbers in the attributes box. Everything by the numbers! Keeps your objects where you want them. ALSO, very important: when slecting an object, always use the Ctrl key and select from the list, even if there is no more than one object under the mouse. This prevents you from moving the objects just by selecting them. I have made this a habit and now I never select objects with a single mouse click.

One thing I would have liked to see in this (and all other tutorials) is an explanation beforehand of why we are going to do something. Okay, so we scale the object by 160%, but why?

"That is, you can always close down an offending site if they display your work without a permission." This is exactly what the RIAA is trying to do. With peer to peer netwrks like Kazaa, the "offending site" is some user's hard drive. This is why the RIAA wants to know who those users are.

Can I have more details on the thickening and thinning? I think that's what I'm looking for.
Thread: Do I need a vector drawing? | Forum: Photoshop
I just downloaded Streamline and gave it a try. Whoa. That's exactly the effect I want, with no effort. So all I have to do now is clean up the raster image a bit before vectorizing it.

Pop-up blockers block pop-ups. Disabling active content ensures that nothing anyone dreams up later can harm you.

Simple solution for avoiding problems like this: Turn off Javascript in your browser. In fact, turn off all active content (Java applets, Javascript, ActiveX). Also while you are at it get rid of IE and use Mozilla or Opera or something else which is less of an insecure pig. If you have active content turned off, you can't get pop-ups or any of that other crap. Some sites require Javascript for certain things. Those that actually require it for navigation almost never have anything worth seeing, so I never see those sites. In other cases I simply turn Javascript on when I need it, then turn it off. Honestly, the Internet would be a better place if everyone simply turned off Javascript and boycotted sites that require it for navigation. Redneck - pop-up free since 1994
