Well, I fixed the permissions. Came up with that on my own ;).  There were a lot of problems after I had to delete a user which had become troublesome.  Not the person, I just had to backup my son's data and destroy his user after he had found a new and exciting way to crash the system... hard.
Still didn't work until after I had d/led the application file about three times. Now it works, yay.
Interesting about the broken Save Image As. That seems like it would be a relatively easy fix and early on the prioritization. Is there a patch in the pipeline any time soon?
EDIT: Thank you for the help, especially Dan.
PS: Now I need to Target Mode my old laptop and recover my user objects and materials. In all the excitement and repeated installs it looks like I ate my backup. Me ineptum.

Oh yeah. It also doesn't save my license code. I have to input that on every startup.

Quote - Probably a stupid question, but you are trying to install the MAC version aren't you?
Yeah. I do have XP on Bootcamp and I have downloaded the PC version just in case. I know sometimes Windows versions get updated more often and XP is fairly antiquous.
That's a desperation move... akin to blender.

Well, I reset my download, so I should have 6.1-point something.
I'm running 10.5.5 on a 2.1 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. My previous version was 6.0, which I was able to get to run sing Rosetta. Now I have downloaded 6.1, which starts okay. The problem now is mostly file access. I can't save br6 files, ordinary image save fails(image export seems to work), I can't load png terrain hf's and I can't load image textures.
I'd rather not drop Bryce, but right now if blender could import 16-bit displacement images I'd use that.

Thread: WIP-01 - Dan Dare era city scene | Forum: Bryce
Quote - As i've been enjoying modelling some 'classic' Hampson Era style designs- (Gallery postings), i thought i'd make one of those Big scene city views that used to grace the Front page of the Eagle comic in the 50's. As always i've begun with my faithful post-it note thumbnail sketch. Then as i had half an hour left of my lunch break i modelled some craft for the background.
More to follow.
I really like the ship on top in your first post. That and the city would be easily adaptable to my Travelleresque millieu. Actually quite well since I'm still trying to figure out exactly what I want starships to look like.
Thread: Pipe Work | Forum: Bryce
This reminds me of the utility room in the last house I rented. It had this weird pipe loop that connected the cold water to the hot water if you opened a valve. (!?!) After some problems with a leaky pipe we cut that weird little bypass out. Nothing exploded, so I guess it wasn't necessary. Never did figure out why that was put in. Applying what I remember from e-fundies to this, I would say the resistance and, judging from the look of those two little tank-things, capacitance of the system would vary when closing those valves. Maybe this is a component in some sort of analog hydraulic computer. Interesting.

The way he's posed there gave a different meaning to, "boned."

Thank you. A very useful feature, this baking. I've been baking a lot of textures lately in planetGenesis.

I'm not sure if I could afford it, but I'm pretty sure that system won't fit under my desk. It'd be great for those TG2 renders. Who needs backface culling with a decent computer !?!

So thats what, "bake," means!?! I suspect a necessary prerequisite to successful use of Blender is a strong familiarity with the jargon.

Perhaps I'm being a pig, but I would also like lathe modeling. That would make my tool kit complete.

Higher precision numbers. Instead of using an infinite plane, I want a sphere 6,378,000 m in diameter. I want to put up an actual moon 1,738,000 m in diameter 384,401,000 m distant. While we're at it shader trees, collision detection, and waves in water that respond to edges. A faster renderer is always a good thing. I use tg2 a lot, so bryce render times don't bother me that much. Oh yeah, I want a terrain editor with capabilities on the order of Daylon Leveller. I'm on a mac so...

That's not how it works Pakled. You find someone who knows how to make things go. And you call yourself Pakled? :giggles:
Thread: When is Daz going to fix this #%!*+* piece of Crap ?!?!? | Forum: Bryce
@Dan Whiteside - Seems to work. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Lately I've been using the free Bryce 5.5 I'd downloaded. It's nice to get some use out of the version I paid almost $40.00 for. I should have have looked at this bank of brilliance earlier. :)
