Wow Gear, We are truley Blessed to have someone of your skills among us, Could the plugin Just import Motion files into Bryce or could the poser charecters come in to Bryce all linked appropriatly for animation? I' don't know how helpfull I can Be with the programming but I'd be glad to help Beta test it for you. Cheers to you Gear Hawkfyr

Wouldn't it be easier just to make a plug in in Bryce that would allow one to pose figures in Bryce for each keyframe of the animation? I know I've ranted at Bryce many times because it wouldn't allow me to pose figures once I had made and imported them. It doesn't seem to me that it should be so hard to allow Bryce to selectively pose a figure. It would just have to have some kind of plugin that would allow it to read the hierarchy structure methinks. I also think if you can suss this, Corel would probably be interested in it.

I know when I import a figure into Bryce as an LWO, all the various parts are still seperately selectable, so it's possible to select a body part now and move it, though doing that seperates it from the figure. If you can figure out how to have Bryce read an LWO figure so that moving a body part doesn't seperate it, you have it.

you can re-locate the origin points ( after ungrouping in Bryce)but I'm not sure ,but I think it doesnt import the mesh that fills in ,for example: if you bent the arm,the elbow would be blank. wouldnt it? Are those called joint paramiters? would that be a problem? Hawkfyr<~~~~~~ who really doesnt know about this kinda stuff

I like the simplified front-end for Poser nestled under the lower Bryce controls Idea. How about incorperating the walk designer and/or mimic? I know thats probably stretching it for a plug in. lol how about the animation editors? would that have to change as well? I have no Idea the degree of complexity involved with this sort of thing . I'm just wondering aloud. Hawkfyr

It would be a hard task! Since Bryce has no modifying tools for objects, except for scaling and position, the object matrix stays the same. The transforms probably are applied to the whole matrix, not to individual vertexes. Some deep surgery will be needed to force the engine to interpolate between deformations, keeping the joints seams welded. Bryce, as far as I know, only modifies terrains (no seams to weld). I'm affraid that the one thing that kept Meta from releasing such a plugin was the need of extensive rewriting of Bryce's code. Nandus

Waiting for one company or another to animate Poser characters within Bryce is not working out. I'm a little rusty as a programmer, but I think I can do it with a little help from all you wise guys. My opening salvo involves both programs being open at the same time. A 'plugin' in Bryce allows Poser controls to manipulate Poser characters already nested in Bryce, and a hybrid application of BVH files both within Bryce and "applied" through Poser. (best with two monitors or a simplified front-end for Poser nestled under the lower Bryce controls) Before I give any more of this away, I need quality feedback from you. Fire away. -Gear (lonely, pathetic, desperate, tired and making a lot of progress much to his own amazement :)
