Hiyall!
  • I did it!! - I finished EC II 2.0.1!!

Thanks to all of you who wrote to me - in return, I've done my utmost to make the update respond to all
suggestions I received.
I hope - and trust - you will be pleased with the new capabilities. (I am! :-))

At my site you can find detailed information about the update, which is downloadable from DAZ

Also, the Manual is now ready.
It is to be read online from my site, or again to be downloaded, as zip, from DAZ

And finally: I made it a lot simpler for you to get to my Poser pages.
Something you perhaps might want to bookmark:

http://www.pcbos.nl/3D.htm

Will get you to the Poser place without you having to look for links etcetera.

Cheers everybody,
and thanks again for the great time you made me have!

Paul Christiaan

Well, you know - you're all very much worth doing it for -I got very interesting mails from seriously professional people, and learned again a tremendous deal - nb: your contributions, Dialyn, are included in the update as well!

Cheers

So, is this a free update for purchasers of EC II? And, I went to that link but could only find a link to the DAZ store. Thanks. Larry F

Larry F ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 3:45 PM

Okay, found it. Thanks again. Larry F

Yeah- free update

Momcat ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 5:48 PM

I can't find it. The only updates I see are dated 2/14/03

Koda ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 5:59 PM

I don't see it either KODA ;=)

Jaager ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 5:59 PM

What sort of formating are you using on your site? All I see is a slate blue page with a two line title at the top. No links what so ever. Either IE 6 or Norton is filtering something, but I have no clue what to uncheck, and dropping my guard in general seems a bit risky.

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 6:07 PM

Two windows open when you click on the link. Or do when I click on the link. One is the slate blue one. But there should be another that opens as well which is the one you want. It seems to be working fine with my IE 6 so that's not the problem. I have Norton antivirus too.

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 7:33 PM

I can open both windows, but when I click on the Update link I just get taken to DAZ. I cannot find any update info there....maybe I don't know where to look. Does this update apply to the Poser 4 version only? I recently purchased the Poser 5 version. Before I keep "clicking", let me know! :)

redon634 ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 7:35 PM

I don't see the update or manual at Daz either. Maybe later tonight or tomorrow?

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 7:37 PM

Ok...I think I found it right on your site?? The "Eye Corrector" for P5, Light Sets for P4/P5. Not sure about the White lights, radiosity, victoria morphs or zoom tool. Are these the updates you were referring to??

JetM ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:02 PM

First off, thanks! That's very cool to have an update. But, I see the version 2.0.1 page, but no download. Missing something...?

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:12 PM

Well, I don't really see how to download it either. :(

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:31 PM

Ok...if you go to the site and first click on ECII on the left side. Then when you get to the next page click on the Update 2.0.1 button also on the left side. That brings you to the Update 2.01 page. Click on the DAZ link and go to the store.....select your version of ECII. At the bottom is the update. It is dated 2/14/03 for P5. As Paul says on his page if you check the ? in the script for the Sun dial or Lighworkshop, you can find out what version you have. Mine is 2.0. I purchased it two days before this update. Now...I'm going to install this update and see if it makes any difference. I'll let you know.

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:41 PM

Follow-up: The update dated 2/14 is for something else. Provides presets that can be used to create effects automatically, but does not alter the software version....I still have version 2.0. Paul! The dang thing isn't at DAZ for either P4 or P5! :) What browser are you using Jaager?

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:49 PM

I've sent an email ... maybe Paul will come back and clarify things. I just don't see the Lightshop update that he is referring to...but that could just be me.

Jaager ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:52 PM

AdSubtract off - no effect Allow Java with Norton - no effect No windows show at all. This is the 3rd or 4th European site that goes nowhere for me, the others are in FreeStuff Found the DAZ update. OK, so why is the update for Poser 5 have the Poser 4 number and the installer saying that it is for the Poser 4 version? The German version is 36b The English is 34b yet on the Poser 4 program The German update is 34b

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:53 PM

I don't think any of that is the right updater. I wouldn't download until we hear more from Paul.

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:58 PM

I found the same confusion with the versions. I purchased the P5 version and yet the installer says it's Poser 4. I even double checked to be sure I had purchased the correct one. Who knows! Frankly I have not been able to really figure out how it works yet to get the effects Paul does. So for all I know I might have the wrong version installed. Who knows. That's why I was interested in the update....and the tutorial. The presets from that 2/14 update might be useful as well....if all else fails :)

Jaager ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 9:58 PM

I am using IE6 I have something excluded, but I am not going to experiment with dropping shields. It would help if I knew which one was blocking.

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 10:01 PM

I'm using IE6 as well and can access his site just fine. Are you running a firewall? I'm not. If you can tell me what shields you have up, maybe I can see how that correlates with what my settings are.

Jaager ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 10:01 PM

Poser 5 version of original = ap036b-envcreatorP5.exe

dialyn ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 10:05 PM

Do what you like...I'm holding off doing anything until I hear from Paul. I can wait another day without the updates. It works fine without them and I'm not going to start downloading until I'm sure what I'm doing. But that's just me.

Jaager ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 10:07 PM

Yes, I have Norton I Net Security 2002 I do not have Java console checked - I don't know what it means, to me a console is a piece of furniture with stereo equipment built in - now obsolete.

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 10:25 PM

Since I don't have Norton Net Security, I'm not much help with that. I do know he runs a lot of script on his site which may be where your problem lies. In my Tools, Internet Options under Microsoft VM, I don't have the Java Console checked either, but the JIT compiler whatever that is), is checked. Is Install on demand (other) in your internet options advanced tab checked? Under your security settings (Tools, Internet Options, Security Settings) what are you using? If Custom, click on the custom button and see if Java is checked. Under Microsoft VM my Java Persmissions are set to High Safety. Active Scripting and scripting of Java applets is enabled. I have no Active X stuff enabled, so he can't be using that.

Jaager ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 11:34 PM

Our IE 6 settings seem to be the same. I voided the update d/l too. I think someone at DAZ was more interested in speed than acuracy and messed up the page. I tried the page with Norton off - no effect.

sandoppe ( ) posted Thu, 06 March 2003 at 11:43 PM

Very strange.....I guess next week I'll know if it's Norton as I plan to install the new Norton Internet Security 2003 when I upgrade my antivirus software. I need the firewall to keep the spammers from exploiting Windows Messenger and plunking their stupid ads on my desktop:) Just out of curiousity, when you get the blue page, there's not another one laying on your task bar is there? Just a thought!

Hello All!

Sorry, sorry, sorry!
You are right and I was wrong - the updates are not at DAZ yet (though they have been sent in on time, I fully believed they were there already)

Possibly they will wait till later tonite with releasing, you know, with the list of new releases sent round.

But don't worry - you know me by now: if it takes too long, I will see to it you can get the download via my own page. You will not be left
standing out in the cold :-)

This is what I can do: I will wait to see if the downloads are up for grabs this night; if they are not, at least the UPDATE will be waiting for you at my site, tomorrow at the latest - till the moment DAZ has placed them.

--the Manual is readable online at my place
--you can later download from DAZ, so you can call it up straight from ECII

Well, cheers everyone - and sorry for being too early..

Paul Christiaan

Hello everyone- Sorry once more I was too quick off the mark- but, better late than never: since the update is STILL not at DAZ (....), you can get it at my place now, for the time being - at least until it's to be had at DAZ. Take care that you download the right version for the kind of EC II you have! - UPGRADE or new. As far as the Manual concerns: please have patience till it's available at the DAZ product pages. For those of you who MUST have the Manual here and now: mail me at tech@pcbos.nl, telling me whether you run MAC or PC, and I'll find a solution. And please note: if the Manual is not up at DAZ by coming Saturday, you'll be able to download it straight from me as well. Apologies for the inconvenience! Paul Christiaan

sandoppe ( ) posted Sat, 08 March 2003 at 8:37 PM

Question Paul: On your website you say the following: "Make SURE you download 2.0.1. UPGRADE Version if you bought an UPGRADE from EC I to EC II" I purchased EC Delux Version II for Poser 5. I never had EC I. I know I don't have version 2.0.1 as I check, so I assume I should download the Poser 5 version 2.0.1 update from your website?

pcbos2 ( ) posted Sun, 09 March 2003 at 1:40 PM

Hello sandoppe-

that's right:

originally bought:EC II for Poser 5: download 201 Poser 5

originally bought:EC II for Poser 4 FULL Version: download 201 Poser 4 FULL Version

originally bought:EC II for Poser 4 UPGRADE from EC I: download 201 Poser 4 UPGRADE

Mac idem ditto.

Please Note: if you download & install the WRONG update, you have to RE-install the original EC II all over again!

All update versions are NOT compatible with each other.

Any questions: mail me.
Same goes for suggestions, of course.

Cheers
