OpenGL is a system of instructions to draw 3d objects. Like Quake III. It slows down Vue though. It bogs the program down actaully. It shouldn't but it does. It's up to you wherther to turn it off or on. If it works on and you like it then use it. Personally I have it turned off and only use it if I need it to make detailed meshes. Try turning it on. I think it's on by default anyway. If it works then use it if not then turn it off. You have to work in wire frame mode then but that is not to bad and the program works lots faster and you can create 10 X more complex things with it.

I use OpenGL:-)

If you only can see wireframe, you may have OpenGL disabled (see FILE--->OPTIONS).

Otherwise you can see your interface like this.

OpenGL is soley dependant on what graphics chip you have. If you have a nVIDIA or ATI base graphics card, then you probably do have OpenGL available to you. Some on board graphics chips, such as some SIS graphics chips have very limited (if any) OpenGL support...so for 3D graphics use with the majority of 3D applications their use is limited. Cheers

Then be real careful about getting any new drivers. Nvidia slants driver performance for games, not graphics programs. A 'needed upgrade' could wind up forcing you to disable GL, or rolling the driver version back to the one where it worked.

jibrielson, when OpenGL is switched on, you will see the above icon on top of each of the 4 windows. Clck on it and select SMOOTH SHADED from the list. Do this for all windows where you want to have OpenGL. Personally I use it in the main view and the top view and for the two other windows choose wireframe. You can color your objects as you used to do with wireframe to recognice it easily. Hope this helps? :-)Guitta [![guittalogo.GIF](http://www.guitta.net/icones/guittalogo.GIF)](http://www.guitta.net/)
