Hello, I am the creator of Natural Hair. I built the 3d object in Rhino, the UV Map in IV Map pro, the textures in Adobe Photoshop and I use Poser Pro Pack. Recently I recived a email of Wenke telling me this:"I must show you something, I have Poser 5 and in the image i send you, you can see thats the light will change the colour of the top hair. So I don't know why but it happens for me." - see the picture The question is: Can someone tell me why this hair style dont work in Poser 5?

Just one more thing, my web site (www.3Dream.org) is currently with a lot of traffic so if you dont have this hair already, try to upload latter. Thank you. 3Dream.

Did they use displacement with the hair? The same thing happens with the hair from Digital Babes, among others, but displacement seems to solve the problem.

Never mind...that's not the problem. I just tried rendering in Poser 5 and that didn't help.

Is Natural Hair a free item? I'd love to try figuring out what's going wrong here, but I can't download it. If it's free, I'd be happy if someone mirrored the file.

I've rendered this pic with a white global light. Same result with the Poser 4 Renderer. I've tried different render settings, but no luck. :o(

it is the way poser 5 treats normals. if you look at the mesh its done like folded and p5 treats them as if they were inside and dont take light. Think one cant correct it in poser itsself.

Here's a test with a white global light...

And one with a colored light... I don't seem to be getting that problem. I also tried just the standard lights, and they seemed ok. Picked up some of the color from the lower right light, but that's normal. Nothing like what wenke got.

Are these single-sided polygons? If so, it's probably a problem we solved recently: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12356&Form.ShowMessage=1331059

Use the production firefly mode; activate Use texture filtering. ? Mazak

I use the production firefly with and without texture filtering, with displacement connect to texture/to transparence, all the same. Perhaps it is a SR-Problem? I have SR 3 installed.

Did you try the material node fix posted in the thread I linked to?

wenke ( ) posted Mon, 14 July 2003 at 12:56 PM

O.k. Here is the result of setting the diffuse node value: 1

wenke ( ) posted Mon, 14 July 2003 at 12:58 PM

Setting: 0.3 Here the texture looks bleached.

you should plug the texture into the new diffuse color node and set the diffuse_value in the PoserSurface node to 0.

Unplug the texture from the unused node channel.

stewer ( ) posted Mon, 14 July 2003 at 1:11 PM

The new diffuse node is a replacement for the top two channels of the PoserSurface node. It works exactly the same, except that it appears not have the problem with the one-sided polygon normals.

Thanks a lot stewer, it works ;o) Now I can make textures for the hair. So, my monthly download limit is reached, perhaps I can found somebody which is so nice to host them?

stewer ( ) posted Mon, 14 July 2003 at 2:41 PM

No prob. One more entry for the FireFly FAQ, if you would please give me permission to use your images ;-)

Thanks a lot for all comments. Now, I guess , we all can use " natural hair " without problems . Wenk , my web page is having some traffic problems.

stewer, wenke, that's really odd. Mine is set up like all other textures. Texture connected to diffuse and specular, with diffuse white, and value of 1; specular black with value of 1. No displacement map either. I wonder why mine turns out alright. I'm using Sr3 as well. Very very odd though.
