Mine :) Me and my dad just finished restoring it! A three year project! Hey ornlu that's my dad's jetta next to the 65' mustang, and he's had problems with it too! As cool as the mustang is, we are gonna sell it and buy me a "college car" with the proceeds. Unfortunately we were not thinking about practicality when the new V8 went in...and then again with the 4 barrel carb....and then again with the ceramic headers....hehe. Thing gets about 8 miles per gallon too. But I still have a year to drive it around town before I'mm off to college.

Don't have a pic handy, but a '95 Mitsumbit*hi Mighty Max pick-em-up truck; 175,000 miles on it (I did drive long distances..;), belts are loose, thermostat busted on the radiator keeps my long distances to 20 miles or less, uses a quart of oil a week (already had the head gasket replaced), seats 1 comfortably, 2 uncomfortably, and my 'special' bed drawer in the back..
(quick project for other pick-em-up's, if you're tired of your knees getting mangled by the gaps in the bed liner, measure the length and width of the bed, subtract an inch on each, have someone cut a plywood piece to the measurements, put two steel handles on the back end, cover with carpet squares (if you had to transport PC monitors like I used to), and slide the whole thing in. Whole thing works like a drawer, and I almost never have to crawl in the back after something..;)

madmax - I love that Mustang! How much do you want for it? (Pity I live in England). I drive a nice-enough Saxo 16v at the moment (modified, of course, but not too much - just suspension, wheels and exhaust). My last car was a boy-racer Vauxhall Nova (I've had 9 of 'em) - a little hatchback with 17,000 of modifications, including a 2 litre 16v Astra engine, rally performance chip, Cossy head, fast cams, stiffened chassis, adjustable rally suspension and custom manifold & exhaust. 175bhp in a car that only weighed 1600lb - 0 to 60 in 6.4 seconds, 132mph top speed (around 200kph) as measured and verified by our very own local constabulary. And that was with a guy weighing 320lb in the passenger seat. I had that car for 8 years until its total lack of traction got the better of me and we flew together upside down into a field.

I love my Subaru's. Gave my 93 Impreza to my daughter to drive since a deer was nice enough to dent it up for me. Got myself a 98 impreza now. Ok Roch222 I'm 41 here's what I remember. I used to have a subaru station wagon before my current cars but I forget now what make and model. Also, had a dodge aries station wagon. Before that I lived in Massachusetts, had a Ford Ranger, some ford station wagon, the absolute worst I had was a gremlin, think it last 3 whole days before it fell apart. My best running car was a 64 Dodge dart, slant 6 225 engine. Had a 69 Mustang, lol it had a rear quarter panel made out of sheet metal rivited to it, but I had to have it. Also needed a large rock to prop up the passenger seat. My first car was a 71 Plymouth Fury, me and a girlfriend slept in it for a week or 2 one summer. I'm thinking I've had one or two other cars but thats all I can remember. Aha, the ford wagon was an escort! Err so hard to remember the past. What I do remember was getting made and slamming the door shut, then the car wouldn't start, the damn thing had an emergency fuel shut down system in case of accidents. LOL the guy at the garage said slamming a door wouldn't have triggered it, he has no idea how mad I was when I shut the door that day. Well anyways,I remember having one other car like the gremlin, except it ran for a while just don't know what it was called, it was bubble shaped, hmmm. Ok I've rambled enough. I think thats 11 not counting any of my husband's cars.

Roch222 ( ) posted Tue, 22 July 2003 at 12:56 AM

ok ang25 - I also had a Grape 1973 gremlin (1st car) 1975 orange firebird, 1979 white formula, with one of those big eagles on the hood 1973 mercury monteray with the biggest trunk i ever saw, 1967 camaro convertible, stolen out of ny driveway 1982 datsun 280Z,flipped it inside the Midtown Tunnel in NYC 198? riviera that I paid 50 bucks for and lasted like 3 years, 1980 white volvo, I had a 1992 volkswagon fox, hit a house and wiped out a bush briefly a light blue chrysler cordova with white roof ( pimp mobile) I remeember having a blue firebird at some point too but dont remember what year, I think it was my first stick shift plus my 2 cars and truck from above.... anyway , we ARE BOTH PRETTY EVEN - I HAD FUN WITH THEM ALL AND IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU DID TOO! I thINK THAT GREMLIN LIKE CAR YOU HAD WAS AN AMC Pacer???? roch222

Rayraz ( ) posted Tue, 22 July 2003 at 4:22 AM

How do you people pay for such cool cars. I mean 17,000 worthe of modifications! I could buy our car 2,5 times from that money. Mustangs, pontiac firebirds (how much does that one cost BTW?). The only car I can afford now is a really rusty old wreck that's for sale a couple of streets from here. I bet if I would try and drive away in it the exhaust would fall of before I'd get home. I'll just spend the money on a new vid-card.

300 mph is very fast indeed. I'd like to know what driving that fast feels like, but I think I'd first need to polish my driving skills. I already drive much to agressive, and that's only on my bicycle.

I got to learn stick shift on my mom's 67 Camaro. That was so cool when I was a kid. Rayraz, back in 80 that Mustang cost me $200, gotta remember it was bondo'd and sheetmetal'd together, needed a rock to keep the passenger seat from flopping all over the place and rotted floor boards but it was a cool car when I was a teen. In the condition it was in it didn't last too long. Roch222, yeah it could have been a pacer but thats still not setting off the bells in my head. I just know that I didn't like it cause it was small and everybody would cut me off like I didn't matter. Were there anyother cars mid 80's that were just like the pacer, small bubble shaped? Angela

catlin_mc ( ) posted Tue, 22 July 2003 at 8:19 AM

I've just bought myself a new car, it's a Renault Kangoo Trekka 4x4, last years model. In other words a van with seats, but what seats they are, it's almost like sitting on a sofa. @Roch222, did you mean 39 years?, although I think expressing them as tears is more appropriate to a lot of us.........lol 8) And I'm 42 so I've shed more tears than you or Ang. 8) Catlin

Incarnadine ( ) posted Tue, 22 July 2003 at 8:20 AM

If anything goes wrong at 300 mph, there won't be any organs to donate. Got to 165 mph once in a nitrous equipped mustang. I have no need to ever go that fast again. Normally on a good divided highway I peg the cruise at 120 kph (~75 mph) and let it run. Gets 37.5 mpg (Imp). Power, economy and comfort with great sound (grin).

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!
